It's nice that Robert Palmer is finally getting the respect that he deserves. Robert Palmer was one of the most underrated singers and one of the most underrated performers. He was actually a celebrity among celebrities. Some of Robert Palmer's fans included Tina Turner, Rod Stewart, Duran Duran...just to name a few. And, what made Robert great and probably the most highly-respected man in music was his diversity. Everyone knows "Addicted to Love", but Robert was much, much more than that. His whole catalog of music should be listened to in order to understand the scope of this man's talent. He was never above working in any style of music or working with anybody. I never knew a man who loved music as much as Robert Palmer. If you get a chance there is a great video of Robert singing with James Brown. This man even did justice to Marvin Gaye's songs! Robert Palmer was incredible! He was a part of my growing up. I miss him dearly.

70's Robert Palmer is the best Palmer. "Hey Julia", "Sailing Shoes", "Every Kinda People", "Man Smart, Woman Smarter", "One Last Look", "Spanish Moon", "Some People Can Do What They Like", "Give Me An Inch", "Work To Make It Work", "Pressure Drop", "Trouble", "Bad Case Of Loving You (Doctor, Doctor)", etc. etc.. Jamel, you FINALLY did it! Thank you SO much for finally reacting to one of my all time favorite songs! You're absolutely right- that bass is fire! And that band backing him up isn't just any old band- that's the Meters, who are the all time kings of New Orleans funk and soul. You owe it to yourself to check out "Look-ka Py Py" and "Cissy Strut" from them. The Meters were an instrumental group, but when you combine their greasy funk with a great singer like Robert Palmer, that's when magic happens. I only wish they had done more together. Oh yeah, we should also give Lowell George some credit- he is, after all, the one killing it on the slide guitar!

The album's Wikipedia article actually has an external link to a website that I got the info about who the musicians are on this track. The bass is the best part of this song, George Porter Jr. is one of the best bass players!

@christophersmith12133 жыл бұрын
The reason the song is so groovy is because it's New Orleans through and through, being written by New Orleans' Allen Toussaint and recorded in New Orleans with Robert Palmer backed by New Orleans' own Meters (plus Little Feat's Lowell George on slide guitar). Of course Robert Palmer achieved fame and fortune in the '80s as a solo artist and as the vocalist in the Power Station, but this, his debut album, is his seminal work.
