What an amazing guy. I live in Kidderminster only 5 miles from him. He is the most polite and friendly man you could ever meet . Robert is the true legend and deserves that label too. As a lifelong fan people say never meet your hero’s. I have met him a couple of times, including out walking his dog . Most memorable respectful, friendly conservation I have had in my life. A legend and hero worth meeting

I live over in Smethwick, not far from where Phil Lynott was born in West Brom. When the first lockdown ended, my family and I took a walk around Kinver and we too bumped into him walking his dog. He was gracious enough to return my somewhat awestruck smile.

@@brendanpmaclean Wow Brendan , great yes he is such a nice guy. That is nice to hear They say never meet your heros, but he made a great impression on me. The first time I met him was in the late 80`s when I was a Mcdonalds manager in the old Kidderminster store. He had just played with a small band in the town centre raising money . I became very childlike and so glad this was before smart phones . ha ha ha

I bumped into Mr Plant on my 40th birthday, in Lyme Regis, UK. Couldn't believe no-one else had recognised him. I told him I loved 'Raising sand' and he leaned into my car window, looked at my girlfriend and said 'So far so good'. For some reason I called him 'bob' and asked where I could park(as if I'd known him for years). He let me have his parking space. He was very nice. I Shook his mighty hand and off he went in his robin reliant. Rest of my birthday was an anti-climax as it sunk in and I thought of all the other things I could have asked him, instead of where to fucking park.

That’s an awesome story !! I met him in a hotel in Peoria Illinois it was his first concert coming to America and he played in Peoria Illinois after Zepplin of course I was the worlds biggest Zepplin fan! But after the show we followed his limousines back to the hotel we waited in the lobby with probably 100 other people he finally came down off the elevator and he was mobbed by people ,he could see the three of us standing off to the side waiting to hopefully talk to him he came right up to us he was the nicest humblest superstar I’ve ever met he asked us how we like to show how we were doing where we were from he was like talking to one of your high school buddies very down to earth very nice! A few years later in Chicago I met Jimmy page after a Firm show he also was very nice but a bit more shy than Robert Roberts very gregarious and outgoing Jimmy was very nice took pictures with us and signed autographs for people but a bit more shy but very nice

You read my mind. I don't mean to talk badly of contemporary artists but they just don't seem to be in the same league. When you consider how young LZ were (and many of their contemporary musicians), it is amazing their maturity and abilities. For sure there are great musicians today but they are likely to not make it to the tv, radio, recording studio. "Talent" shows are all about manufacturing and promoting a product, imo.

"When you've created one 'Whole Lotta Love', how many of them do you need?" That's really well said. People always want bands to keep doing that same thing over and over. Zeppelin was genius at connecting the familiarity of their early work to the explorations of the new material they were putting out. It always sounded like Led Zeppelin, no matter how different Fool in the Rain is from Heartbreaker.
