The million dollar question. Glad to see you posting more videos.

From a practical perspective, if you're shooting as a preparation for defense, I would say accuracy of the first two shots you take at a single target are most important and likely more important than speed; in a self defense situation you likely don't want to have to take the time to reload so those first couple of shots really count. Ideally I think you'd be shooting at two targets and looking for 2-3 accurate shots on each target. Do they still need to be fast? Sure. But I might rather take 2 extra seconds to hit the target accurately rather than 2 seconds reloading after having missed. If you're shooting for sport like you generally are? Speed, because it's incredible to watch you shoot so fast.

I’m just starting, I feel that accuracy will allow for speed as I progress. But just being fast doesn’t count if I miss the target. 🎯

I think you have to do both. Using the smaller target and keeping them in the ten ring as you improve your time would be your goal. The uspsa target is what you want to train with at various distances to improve hitting the A box with movement as I have only had one Qualifier where we didn't move physical. So I'd continue to do both they both have there benefits for all shooters. And let me say I love your trigger I use a glock 35 and your trigger made All the difference. Glock triggers hurt my finger after about 50 rounds so the switch did wonders. Continued luck to you and your goals.

When shooting IDPA , I think of speed and accuracy as triangulated vectors ideally meeting up at my best possible score As IDPA penalizes misses more aggressively than USPSA or IPSC , I have to run a ongoing algorithm based on my average proficiency, stage design, distances etc I’ll hopefully throttle up and down based on all these factors and achieve my best possible outcome as a result Sometimes , I’ll speed up and outrun my accuracy and still get good result but generally for me, relying on fast mechanics is a less guaranteed outcome than scoring hits But , I’ve only been competing for a total of 5 months , and tho I’ve got a few good results already , I have no place commenting on anything the amazing Mr Vogel has to say lol !

Define the accuracy requirement and shoot it as fast as possible while meeting the standard.

Shoot as fast as it takes to keep them in the "A" zone from an IPSC perspective. Its nice to have your shots in tight little group but you're dropping hit factor.

Answer depends of context. If it's for IPSC/USPA, shoot as fast as possible while hitting A zone. Regarding real scenarios, shoot faster, because one bullet will already make a difference :) I don't know, just guessing.

From a IPSC/I IDPA that will depend on the stage, the hit factor favors speed or acurracy. I don't think a stage is alwayd 50/50. If we are talking self defense, as fast as you can place the rounds where they have the most effect. There is no effect ballistics in a miss shot...depending on where the bullet stopped 😅

I think of it as giving your self an allowance of inaccuracy for the speed you will shoot at. If I am confident of the course of fire then going faster with less consideration to accuracy is something i accept because as long as its in the A zone who cares how big the group is right?

..As fast as you can get away with based on the target presented.

3 seconds 8" group vs 15 seconds 2'' group hmm... I will take 15 sec 2'' group as long my first shot is under 1 second 😁

Not being a smartass, but what gives me the best score? In the game, USPSA, the second target/ time is better. If we take this discussion to the real world I would think, since first best shot wins, that it's a combination... ie. First 2-3 shots need more speed than accuracy, at that range, (and I am assuming a level of proficiency that the shooter is going to be close, if not in the A zone at balls out speed), and then it's time to turn off a switch, by slowing down slightly to get that precision, or precise enough, shot. All that said, what the hell do I know... just an opinion based upon zero real world experience(gunfight/s), but a moderate amount of competitive shooting.

In USPSA or on da streetz the second is far better. More good hits faster is better. Sure if that metric target was at 30 yards you would have slowed down to get those hits and it probably would have been more the time of the first target with a similar trajectory cone and more spread at distance. More sufficient hits faster! Seems like an attacker with 6 holes in 2 seconds is better than an attacker who has more time even if hits are slightly better.

Smooth is fast, fast is smooth, but I believe It looks better to be accurate than fast.

Someone of your capability? 3" in 2.25-2.50 seconds. Me? I'm happy to be on the paper, and I pray that after two shots I'm out of danger. I carry a 5-shot 44 snubby.

I think ruger vaquero, 45 LC , loaded with rattle snake medicine, draw..squeeze..fan...no need for third shot...0.68 sec...YEE...HAW..
