Understanding the science of color theory is a must for serious artists, and Bob knows his stuff. Same goes for composition.

Bob thank you so much. I struggle with depression so I started painting, and it was so fun at first. But as time went on I started getting so caught up in trying to make it perfect from the very beginning, then I’d get discouraged and simply give up. After a few months I’m now trying to get back into it and found you while browsing KZbin. And when I just now heard you say, “remember why you started painting in the first place: because it was fun!!” I couldn’t help but get choked up. I’m gonna do a painting today and start just throwing some bright color on there and have fun. Again, thank you so much Bob. Happy painting, and God bless, my friend.

Phil Adrian I’m commenting to remind you that as we are all social distancing we can be creating art. Hope you’re still painting Bob style 😆. Omg he’s the best contagious thing ever!! I was watching one of his videos where he made copies of carrot figures and I made a couple pages and did some copies of them myself.. I tore them up and started adding them to some crazy abstracts (I was actually painting over some canvases that didn’t work out that I didn’t want to throw away) and they added sooo much fun! You don’t even need a starting point. Just slop some paint on. I didn’t have any gel medium on hand so I just laid some juicy paint/water down and stuck my torn pieces of carrot figures right onto the wet paint and it was perfect.. after that dried I did a wash over it with some watery Indian yellow. Later I did buy Holbein marigold & luminous opera - oh boyee those are unreal colors for sure! 💯💜💜💜 I get in a deep funk too and won’t paint for long periods. For me I have found out that it’s when I hesitate I miss out. So I don’t hesitate. I feel like I wanna paint and I know that hesitation kills my mood so the second I feel painting calling me I jump up.. if I can get one swipe of color onto the canvas I’m going onto the next color. And Bob is right about the pallet being large - using the shiny side of freezer paper (or wax paper) is amazing bc when you’re done if ya let all that dry on the paper, you can peel the shiny layer off and make collages/pieces with that too. Heck some days I’ve used the plastic wraps off of the canvas for my pallet. If ya cut them off right, ya get large squares & those are perfect for collages later. Makes perfect paint skins. Anyways, I was reading your comment and hopefully you get this notification because I was sure happy to see Bobs blasts in my timelines today! He’s so refreshing isn’t he?!! Our paints are doing no good sitting in the tubes or containers! Put on some reggae or something toe tappin. Let’s make something fun.. we’re all stuck for a bit so why not be creating & making art.. Happy painting- stay safe 🌹🤗✌️

debrajo l Thanks so much for your reply! He definitely is contagious! I can’t help but get inspired when I watch him! Being cooped up for quarantine has given me more than enough time to try new things and Bob certainly helps. Also I’ve seen his carrot people tutorial but never got around to trying but thanks for reminding it! I’ll certainly be giving that a go! Happy painting and God bless, my friend!

I admire your painting technique so much. I have been painting a long time, but never with the amount of freedom and spontaneity that you have. I really just need to fly from the other side of the planet and spend a week painting with you....if only to learn to relax.

Bob, beautiful painting. So fun to watch you work. REQUEST: Please do some videos on how to paint different types of vases, with and without the stems showing, plus how you detail (finish) flowers, especially the focal flower.

Thanks for your comments! There are some previous BobBlasts that show different vases - look through the archives to locate. I will also put that on my future "to do" list.

Finished product is fantastic... but am I the only one that noticed the vase is now lighted on the left instead of the right? ...which is fine, but if so, shouldn't the light and dark walls (behind) switch also...? Just asking... love watching you bring something together... Thank you.

Brush With Many Colors the painting drastically changed. I noticed that the perspective change from straight on to overhead looking down at the vase on a table.
