Wow ! your pallete is as interesting as the painting itself,Bob you are the most 'painterly' painter I have ever seen in action,such exciting use of generous colour,not going to copy you per say but incorporate some of that loosness into my own work,than you for doing these and inspiring us worldwide.

I have never left a public comment before but I just have to say how relieved I am each week to see that you are still well out there in California. We only have 7 cases here in Boone so far. I relish every minute of watching you paint and ESPECIALLY like the length of this one. You are such an inspiration and needless to say, a great, great teacher. Thank you so much for all you give to us all. Doug

Omg yes I agree!! Go to his site and look at the Bob Blasts.. his series on the circus/people etc is absolutely incredible. I put some ideas from that together with his carrot figure people (super easy & fun) and made sooo much art work to be proud of. Everybody wanted something from my collection. He’s so right- work ridiculously fast & wet. Let it dry. Come refine it a bit. Add some details but not much and it’s done. His color wheel is worth buying. Best $15 ever invested. Happy painting!🌹

Thanks for your videos! You have changed my artistic life forever! I was ready to give up painting realistic landscapes, telling myself I have no talent. I am a jazz musician and love to improvise and found myself constantly changing and improvising on my traditional type landscapes and they never worked out. I found your videos yesterday and tried my hand at abstract painting, something I never considered doing, and found I love it and it suits my improvisational nature quite well. I did one painting yesterday and doing a second painting today. I've watched several of your videos and finally I understand color better, and the process much better. And I just enjoy seeing where the painting goes on its own, much like playing jazz. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!

This was great, getting to see more of your process, not just a snippit or two from your shorter Bob Blasts. Thank you for also talking out your thought process. Being unsure of where to go next, sometimes being a good stopping point for reflection, and other times making a strong commitment to the painting and allowing that to take it in an unexpected direction. I did mine in watercolor (just because I ran out of acrylic white and a nice blue). My window painting is okay , but is a little flat because I forgot the light reflection ( to preserve the whites). I had a color scheme of warm terracotta in mind, in keeping with my Italian window. I've been looking for your wheel to buy and finally found it on Cheap Joes because when I do over mine, I will use your wheel. . I wanted to keep my concept an Italian window and balcony. I used a reference photo. I'm glad you shared a do-over. I loved your paining of the door or window with the light coming through on the bottom in the yellow(which you have hanging up). So interesting

Question for Bob, your composition seems to equal sizing on the left and the right, forming vertical or linear lines, with the wider middle. Did you go back later and make the white refection in the window or the lighter window to the right of the painting, wider to get a more asymmetric painting?

The greatest source of the most valuable knowledge out there! I have one question that I hope to get the right answer to. I was wondering if the 80% dominant color rule applies to some other color schemes like the complementary,split and analogous..etc.Or is it possible to use the chosen colors in equal amounts throughout the whole art piece.
@Freeyourself206 Жыл бұрын
with all that water aren’t you spreading out the pigment too think without a binder and making it non-archival. I read from paint manufacturers not to use more than 25% water and to use a glazing or blending medium so the binders are still there . I love this guy’s enthusiasm and excitement and child like surprise and wonder. he really does surprise himself! I love it

Another way of looking at it could be "go with the flow" - if I thought that I could not change and shift, but insterad had to be rigid in my decision making and follow-through, I would be very restricted in creativity. There are many ways of doing art work and staying happy.

I'm sorry but I don't get it... so you don't know what your painting you just splash about with water and scribble about with NON CONFIDENCE BRUSH STROKES??? yeah we get it.. Hollbine paints are obviously your sponsor.. but I don't get it.. this painting for instance... you've not a clue what your painting.. you said it.. I'm sorry but to me it's what I did in art school at Primary school.. NONE of his brush STROKES or when he spontaneously uses the same colour over the same colour and then rubs it out with a different colour.. some window.. yeah I know its abstract.. this guys too confusing... I'll stick with it though n try understand. Just don't get him .

Bob Ross, bless him, showed masses of people how to copy his generic work to get a happy little painting identical to 500,000 other people. Bob Blast teaches people how to do their own original work. As he says: "If you have to be sure of the end result, don't be a painter."
