If I recall correctly this dude was pretty serious about his faith. ALLEGEDLY a condition for joining the band was that they had to do a daily bible study session together. But man I'm not typically a fan of music that's all harsh vocals, but these guys are fantastic. I'm glad the guitarist had more and more clean vocals later on he has a solid voice. Their last album Wake was amazing, the song Two Brothers about Cain and Abel is still one of my favorite songs today. They also have an acoustic version of this song Fearless that's sung by the clean vocalist that I personally I like more, but this is still a top 10 out of 10 song.

In the last couple of years I have found some really good Metal/Progressive Metal bands who are Christians. Demonhunter and Wolves at the Gate are the first to come to mind. I found another band called Woe, Is Me.

For Today was one of the first bands to get me into this genre of music with a combination of brutal breakdowns and truth and wonderful messages throughout their music! In The Midst Of Lions is another great one, they're more like Impending Doom in that they're Deathcore instead of metalcore. A few more to check out would be Mychildren Mybride, Oh Sleeper, A Plea For Purging, The Chariot, The Great Commission, Gideon (Pre-Calloused), As I Lay Dying, Emery, Haste The Day, Earth Groans, Convictions, Comrades, Betraying The Martyrs (their first album mostly) The Burial, As Hell Retreats, Sovereign Strength, Cardiac Rupture, Taking The Head Of Goliath, and many more

Outside of not having to fear death itself, I definitely found the lyrics encouraging as I felt that it could be saying we don't have to fear temptation or sin either. Recently, I've been struggling with some repetitive sins in my life and fear temptation coming back each time. Ultimately knowing though that "We bear the scars of the holy risen son" reminds me that everything that is needed is already done and I don't need to be afraid! Just my little take on the song!

Definitely metalcore. No mistake there. They were one of the biggest metalcore bands out there in the late 2000s, early 2010s. I think you'll love their album Portraits (each song is based off of people from the Bible) and their album Breaker. Both are excellent.

Saw For Today when they toured with Emmure & AA. The Emmure merch said things like “Fuck” & such….. weird seeing clean merch next to that. Then I saw them on the farewell tour with Silent Planet, My Epic, & Norma Jean. The people who went to see Norma kept yelling at Mattie to “shut the hell up” when he was praying and thanking the fans for coming. I met Mattie & the rest of For Today, they signed a poster for me & I got a picture with them. Im not religious but absolutely love For Today, Silent Planet, & My Epic. You should react to some songs by My Epic & Silent planet.
