You know that saying, one man's trash, is another man's treasure. In your case for the prop aspect, it's one man's treasure, is your dash trash. Lol. Beautiful job on this one Bob. The crew knocked it out of the park.

The funniest thing is that the car was only 5 years old at the time of filming the Blues Brothers in 1979, yet it's worn to the point that it easily looks 25 years old! This is a great replica!

My favorite movie as well. I sneaked into the family room and watched it in Cinemax in 1981. I have seen this movie at least 50 times. Blues brothers is the reason I drove old 4 door junk cars for all my life!

It needs dual exhaust and the spotlight to be closer to what it was. We tried for years to get one back when you could still find them. I won tickets to the movie on the radio when it was new and had a bunch of extra stuff they gave out. Those things with a cop 440 had a sound all to themselves. I could always tell when a Mopar cop car was close by. Those bodies were used in Dodge and Plymouth just by changing the badge and maybe changing some of the trim and interior pieces. They were damned fast for such a heavy car and had all kinds of cooling add ons and extra duty parts like the biggest alternator Chrysler made, possibly the huge 100 amp version that took a special mounting setup and extra heavy wiring to run it. I'm not sure if the 100 was available then but it probably was just coming out. I got one from a cop Diplomat from the early 80s with a police 318 in it and one like it is still in my 69 Dart. It can jump start about anything.
@69Dartman4 жыл бұрын
@@CycolacFan It's been a long time but I got Blues brothers buttons, a wrap sheet on them, and all kinds of goodies. I tried to save it all but not sure what happened to most of it now. I may have it stashed in the old desk I had in my room back then but who knows all these years later.
@RobertMoseley4 жыл бұрын
Make a video of your car and teach me how to do it right! Thanks!
@69Dartman4 жыл бұрын
@@RobertMoseley I don't think I need to teach you anything about it. You are probably having a hard time trying to find any of these cars now so you use what you can find. The old style spotlights are hard to find now too. I have one my little sister pulled off her 82 Cop Diplomat back a few years after she bought it from a police auction in Washington across the river from here. You said it needed a spot light, but with the small block it wouldn't have gotten duals so you built it as is and painted it up to match the movie car. You can always add duals and a spot light down the road if you want. I don't have a Monaco, I have a old 69 Dart Western Sport Special I bought in 79 with a 383 nose with 63k for 550 and the original 318. It needs a carb rebuild and some minor wiring fixed to run again. It does have a 9800 Thermo Quad on it and a lot of 340 and suspension upgrades but it's been sitting a while.

that trunk gave me a little laugh. my second car was a 69 Fury and its exactly the same inside, even the lid popped up quick like that. sides of the trunks were all rusted out. gas tank was rusted out. rear headlights were candy ass like this one. they would randomly pop out of the housings and i would have to pop them back in, they also died out a lot. i had a box of spare bulbs in the trunk because i replaced them so regularly.

103 cars destroyed in the 1980 film, 104 cars destroyed in Blues Brothers 2000. Blues Brothers held the record for the most cars smashed until its own sequel deliberately destroyed just one more. For the 1980 film’s main chase, 60 police cars were bought for $400 a piece, and outfitted with reinforced chassis. Most of the cars were unsalvageable by the time filming was over.
