My favorite Jarmusch film easily. John Lurie and Tom Waits look like they don't dare look at Roberto because they know they're going to burst out laughing. I don't know how they kept straight faces on this scene. I bet there were multiple takes that were ruined by laughter.

Fin dal titolo "dawn by Law" si presenta come una riflessione sul linguaggio,sul suo utilizzo e sui fraintendimenti che si creano parlando lingue diverse. Film disseminato di incomprensioni e giochi di parole, Jarmusch ha deciso di distribuirlo all'estero soltanto a condizione che non venisse doppiato. Se la grandezza di "Stranger than Paradise" era quella di riuscire a dire grandi cose con un linguaggio semplice ed efficace , "Dawn by Law" si arricchisce, oltre che di una vena fiabesca e umoristica, anche di un'astrattezza che lo rende universale, fuori dal tempo. L'ottimismo di Bob si contrappone all'atteggiamento disilluso e pessimista di Jack e Zack, emblemi del tramonto del mito americano e interscambiabili nella visione dell'altro(che continua a confondere i loro nomi).

roberto benigni è un genio. davvero un genio. qui in Italia poche persone lo apprezzano come merita, d'altronde siamo rinomati come il paese dei deficienti! Io personalmente lo adoro, fin dalla mia infanzia mi ha fatto ridere e riflettere e commuovere con film come pinocchio o la vita e bella. è in grado di passare dal comico al drammatico al romantico in uno schiocco di dita. lo adoro!!

Just watched this on hbo and what a weird enjoyable movie. Every time I thought something was going to happen I was wrong.. first I thought jack was gonna shoot the hooker in beginning , and I thought Zack was gonna kill the Italian man when they first met. It’s a weird enjoyable movie.. I had to keep pausing it to see how much time was left because I didn’t want it to end. I really thought they were all gonna wake up back in jail!
