Getting adequate sleep, I've become an insomniac from working the 3rd shift ...I find myself waking up later in the day like 10 / 11am and staying up until til sometimes 6 in the morning...I'd much rather get up by 5 am and start my day... Thanks for these tips and reminders that overall physical health contributes to mental & emotional health!!!

Getting enough sleep. I’m on 3rd shift and lucky if I get 3 solid hours of sleep. Between being a mother and establishing a business sleep is very important yet fleeting. There are plenty of advice on waking up at 5am or putting in time after work. However people forget about night shift. I get off at 6am and have a small window for sleep and for appointments.

I have been debating this for awhile and I think it might be time to lay off the coffee. I made it through college without it and I could do without the sugary add-ins. And Sleep. I need 6.5 to 7 hours a night. Any less than 6 and my body starts to fall apart.

I changed my lifestyle a couple of months ago and lost massive weight, then sold my car and keep walking ever since. I enjoy the local scenery and plants by passing them slowly and still get to town for groceries. I feel so great and love life. My weakness is still hydration, lol. I will work on that.

I've noticed, especially in the last year or so, how much food affects my energy levels. I used to be able to eat whatever and be fine, not anymore. I have Ehler's Danlos and fatigue is a constant struggle. I've had to cut out sugar when I need to be productive. I will literally fall asleep in my chair at my desk otherwise. My best days are high protein days. I'm in the middle of working on a meal plan for myself. Hard for picky eaters lol. I'm doing better with sleep now that school is out for my kids, that was a huge energy drain that I need to handle better next year. Committing to drinking more water because that's something I can do as soon as I'm done writing this comment!

I quit smoking six months ago. I was a smoker for twenty years. This habit was affecting everything: my health, my mood and definitely the productivity at work and my side projects. After this really important change, my daily life is much better than before. Three to four cups of coffee per day was a thing for me aswell. I was acting and looking like a zombie sometimes!

I think the coffee thing is something a lot of people suffer from. I think my body is immune to caffeine. It just doesn’t do anything for me. Energy drinks or soda.... nothing. Who knows. I guess everyone’s body is different. I don’t drink nearly enough water. That is for sure. Some great tips here Roberto. My new habit. I think working out in the mornings Will make all the difference.
@pom_sullivan5 жыл бұрын
I have thought and implemented most of these points a while ago and I can safely say it helped a lot with my job. I'd like to add something regarding the eyes and blinking point of Roberto if I may. Addressing the people that use contact lenses mostly instead of glasses. Try to decrease the amount of time you're wearing them. Being a person that used to wear lenses all day long (literally, no glasses) I can honestly say it had a huge impact on my head. Fatigue, dry eyes, trouble falling asleep after removing them, the whole deal. Especially if you're working on a pc etc choose proper glasses instead of lenses. It's worth it. Also splash water on your face frequently during the day. Control your breathing, trust me deep inhale-exhale. As dumb as all of this may sound have a go at it. Might help. Keep grinding boys and girls. Thank you Roberto.

Thanks for bringing up the coffee issue, Roberto. All the caffeine people are consuming is so bad for the health. I’m down to 6 ounces in the morning only. And I feel so much better. I was up to close to 25 ounces every morning. Yes you are so right about drinking more water!! Thanks for sharing healthy lifestyle tips. I’m watching this while doing cardio. I discovered I can stream KZbin and Netflix while I get in cardio sessions so I enjoy it more. If I walk outdoors, I leave the phone at home for a total break. I love gardening as a hobby, because it’s so far from being on the computer. And the time caring for plants is so regenerative.

Your advice to use your free time to catch up on rest, versus “unwinding,” is advice that I definitely needed to be reminded of. I also have the insomnia and anxieties issues, and consume a lot of caffeine and sugar. That was a great reminder also. They seem like such “common sense” ideas, but we can so easily stray from them, and not realize what an impact they have on us. Great video! ❤️

Getting up early really changed things for me. I'm a lot more productive then. This morning was spent finishing off the garden (it's North Dakota, so I'm not late). A good combination of outdoors and physical activity, and it's only about 10:00 now. I struggle to get outdoors in the winter, but it does help that I walk to work, even if it's only a few blocks. In the depths of winter, that's probably enough! Good point on the coffee. Last summer I cut myself down to one cup in the morning. I missed it at first, but mostly the habit. And you are totally right about how that changed my hydration. Water or even hot water helped replace the habit. And for the future, I want to add a consistent exercise program.

Great share, I'll be working on fixing these using your words of advice: - Going to sleep when bored or feel overwhelmed from work instead of finding stuff to consume and occupy my time. - I usually feel overwhelmed when I thinking about all the stuff I want to do and realize I can't get it all done within the year. Which kind of causes me to be enveloped in my work while being at home as well.

Wonderful tips Roberto. One habit I will definitely change is going out getting some sun and walking. As a creator I find myself home a lot constantly working and the lack of exercise is killer in the long term. I find it can be a real struggle to get out there even for just a walk but one thing we got to do is form the habit. For me my body is like clockwork once I start getting used to it then its all gravy from there. Never stop making content even if its not going to be higher on youtube or whatever content we create even if one person see it we have the ability to impact. Keep on creating. much love all.

Great video Mr. Blake. Love the content. I love the holistic approach you take to working life, that so many people disregard health for a desk job. I'm in a small town and there's this thought process that you can just be a slug and it's easy to work a 9-5 on a computer. There's this misconception with John Q. Public that when you use your brain to work, that you somehow have it made and its a cake walk. But like you point out, a person's peak performance mentally is directly dependent on their physical state. Can't get performance out of one without the other. Such great advice!

One habit that I changed over a year ago is the infamous “Tech Neck”. When people are using devices such as iPhones and iPads, they have the device on their lap and they are looking directly down at it for extended periods of time. This is terrible for your spine and your neck. GUYS IF YOU ARE HUNCHING DOWN, PLEASE FIX YOUR POSTURE AND PUT THE DEVICE AT EYE LEVEL. It will allow your lungs to carry oxygen and a straight path up to your neck so you can even breathe better and relax easier. Exercise is especially important, I just did a light run this morning! Thanks for this video!😀👍 - A long-time subscriber

Thanks, Roberto! It's very important to take care of our health to be at our best. As you say, reducing sugar, eating a lot of veggies, moving more, sleeping enough and getting enough vitamin D through sunlight it's important. As a scientist, I just need to make a small comment about what you said about natural sweeteners like honey, the metabolic effect of honey in our bodies is the same as if we consume sugar, as honey is basically more than 80% sugar. So a good idea is to try to add less sugar to your hot drink every time until you get used to the taste of it.

Thanks so much for the awesome video! I'm really glad you're addressing these healthy habits. Most of these things Ive already addressed myself in the past 6-36 months trying to naturally heal myself, but it's so super important to implement BEFORE people get sick like I did. I can tell you from experience that it's a million times easier to prevent than try to reverse the illness that come about from poor self care habits. 💗💗 I do need to get back to regular walking sessions and that's what I'll be implementing next!

So right about checking your responses to foods. Had to eliminate cheese and pasta from my diet. Sadly, cheese isn't in my weekly shopping list anymore, but I don't really miss it after 3 months. Great tips! I can recommend most of them. Especially combination of enough sleep, workout and right diet (lots of veggies an fruits + regular water). You can do much more work in 2 hours when you are focused than in 4 hours when you are tired. I also recommend to start with 1 or 2 habits and only after they become routine, try to pick up something else. If you try change too many things at once, chances are you won't change anything.
