I have one and it's so freaking laggy it's useless. I give rides for lyft and the lyft app through CarPlay on that Carlinkit device makes me miss my turns and all sorts of other issues. Can't use it at all. It's terrible.

0:31 this is not true for EVERY COUNTRY different laws for every tesla in every country. Australian firmware on all teslas in the country can not use this while in motion. its prevents that from happening. thats why this is useless in Australia.

I just got my Carlinkit T2C device and its automatically lowering my volume and it's hard to heat the text message being read back.

Found you soon after buying MY late 2022. Interesting method to get Carplay. My Hansshow screen provides a Carplay screen, but I haven't found how to get it on the Tesla screen. I think it only works on their screen. Another nice Video, Keep up the good work!

I feel like when I buy a car, I just accept what infotainment they have. I had older vehicles with simple infotainment. The Tesla was my first vehicle with a real infotainment system. I never user car play or android auto until last year when I rented a mini van while in Buffalo NY. I like it but still enjoy the Tesla infotainment more.

You forgot to mention that using this device will likely result in maxing out one's cell phone's hotspot, making the device useless until one buys more hotspot data. In my case, it will cost an additional $20 per month to use this device.

Apple CarPlay apps don’t support banking or sensitive data. Plus all apps on iPhone are sandboxed anyways so there’s nothing to worry about

My pro max charges better on passenger side but will charge on both and that’s in a esr halo mag case or whatever they call it has the bezel that props up phone I know putting phone closest to center works best and instant on passenger side but drivers it has to sit for 5-10 seconds …… i did add silicone mat and that stopped it from charging if case is on but works just fine with no case…. Maybe you should ask Tesla service to replace it.

Having used all 3 systems since 2018. AA and CP and Tesla. I can confirm that Tesla UX - user experience and flow absolutely shits all over the latter. I get so frustrated with CP and AA for simple tasks! I 100% get why they are not interested. Especially since their UX is so fluent and fast…. And yet people will avoid the car as they truly believe that they NEED CP. the only nice thing would be Waze. Apparently that’s coming. But honestly. Don’t knock it till you tired it.

Not happy with Tesla Software. FSD is dangerous. It will take a bus exit thinking it is the highway. Also, when on FSD it could not see the left turn lane. It wound make a left turn from the thru lane. It did not learn. I had to overcorrect autopilot and steer into the turn lane. The app knocked down my safety score beta. Also in freeway jam up FSD hard breaks knock downs safety + unsafe following down. My score went from 99% to 85%. When I signal lane change Autopilot disengage and slows down. Car behind has to break and on the lane change is on top of me before I change lanes. My Tesla insurance rate goes up by safety score because over correction from Autopilot. Also my 2024 Performance Model 3 signal buttons on the steering wheel. Can’t signal while turning in a traffic circle or U-turn. Defective unsafe design. Also a safety down if you drive at 11 PM to 4 AM. WTF. Oh, it was at 10 PM to 4. No fun with big brother watching you. You’re screwed if you work swing shift. I won’t ride in a Tesla taxi. Unsafe software.

I'm also not a fan of FSD. I don't have the Tesla insurance... mine's through Safeco which doesn't do that. I give lyft rides but I almost never engage autopilot, and when I do it's not FSD. I only use enhanced autopilot (auto-steer traffic aware cruise control) and generally just on the freeway. In traffic that mode works really great because it adjusts speed automatically. Usually works well, but occasionally it does stupid stuff and I have to disengage it. Sometimes it believes there's emergency lights so it starts slamming the brakes. So gotta press on the accelerator and maybe disengage. There's a lot to be desired in the Tesla software still. Not sure why after all this time some of the main issues still remain. And no CarPlay being one of them. After your 1st year of ownership they send a satisfaction survey. Be sure to tell them everything.

I never get this complaint of the lack of carplay. Why do you need car play? Teslas nav is based on Google maps, they have 3 of the most popular music/podcasts apps native (counting KZbin music to be added in summer update), the majority of popular entertainment streaming services... What else do you need in your car?

You're assuming that people only want to use the few apps that you know about. There are plenty of other apps that are simply not available on Tesla's software and every other weird auto manufacturer that chooses to exclude Android Auto and CarPlay.

You need to pay premium connectivity to be able to stream those apps, and they don’t always seamlessly synch across your Tesla and phone. The UI for say Apple Music and Audible on the tesla is not great (and buggy) and missing some features that the native phone apps and CarPlay versions have.
