Star Citizen - Early Spaceport concept art to 3D environment test

Very early test of moving from concept art of a spaceport to a 3D environment. Please note the fidelity of the environment and buildings is MUCH lower than what it will be in the actual game and a lot of the background city environment is missing.

I love that they are doing spaceports. Easily my favorite thing from Freelancer. It helps immersing you in the world.

I really hope there is a documentary about the games development after this is all said and done. There should really be a professional crew putting together a video while the game is being developed(as long as is doesn't impact the actual development of course!)

naah, i actualy think you can still pledge for your ship, and the game at the RSI site, there you will also be able to get different kinds of skins to the hull of the ships ;) I can`t wait eighter, i am thrilled :D i pledged for the -Freelancer- ship, it`s going to be awesome.. Imma gonna find myself one of those hidden smuggler astroid bases to hide my stuff :D

I believed in a grown-up community. Space-Sim fans older than 15 - people who know Wing Commander/Privateer/Freelance or at least heard of and respect them. The dev team went to have dinner and left a message on a lamp for the people on the stream to read. They were out for about 3 hours, people got bored and started making lamp jokes. The dev team liked the lamp jokes and used them for the rest of the stream.

items that are legitly in game can be a placeholder, a placeholder is just a generic entity used to be easily swapped with another entity, the ship can still be in game while used first as a placeholder.

The red ship won't be in the final game. IIRC, It's just a placeholder taken from a resource library, the Star Citizen devs didn't build it for the game.

Go to turbosquid and look up "spacefighter2." It's a placeholder asset that won't be in the finished game, as far as we know.

It probably should also depend on whether or not the ship is intended to re-enter the atmosphere at some point. Gigantic cargo ships would probably be built in and remain in space forever, because there's no way those would fly, but things like personal ships and fighters might have to double for planes fairly often.

You will be able to customize your ship ALOT! You got upgrade slots on all ships, different classes of hardpoints were you mount different types of weapons, engine modifiers, thrusters.. if you have a larger ship you can have your friend man the turret in your ship.. ENDLESS posibilities :)
