No surprise there, Estee Lauder has given the kiss of death to a number of truly iconic, innovative brands such as Mac, Bobbi Brown, Origins and Clinique. I still can't forgive them for having killed Prescriptives, which probably Robert has never had the pleasure of using because of his young age, and the fantastic hair products brand Ojon. They purchase great brands from the original creators but, being a corporation, all they are interested in is making a quick buck at the expense of quality, innovation, customer care and uniqueness. Years and years ago, I was invited to attend an IFABBO event where Becca was a sponsor. They gave us a large face brush that hadn't been released yet, along with several glowy face products and foundation samples. I still have that brush, and it is amazing for bronzing and contouring. I believe this was back in 2013? It was before they blew up on YT and before they were sold. Very kind people. They sent me the brush when mine was missing from my gift bag. They had included some other products in the box as an "I'm sorry," which I thought was kind. I bought a few things over the years, but they never had that one amazing product that I needed to repurchase over and over again, and I had other products I liked for my kit better, so they never became a staple for me. I suspect this is the case for so many others. The fact that they saved only two of their "iconic" products and moved them under the Smashbox label says a lot to me.

I must be the only person who LIKED the Zero “foundation.” For me a foundation isn’t solely about evening skintone, but it’s an overall base to blend all the rest of your makeup into, from blush to bronzer. At least on me, primer -> blush just isn’t going to apply right, I NEED that extra layer fresh foundation provides to blend it into. The Zero stuff provided THAT benefit for me perfectly, AND really blurred my texture. I tried it as a primer and it absolutely DID NOT WORK as one. It got gross and pilled up. I still have my container of it and use it on occasion. I just think it’s a very niche product, and because of that it got a lot of hate from the majority of people (for whom it didn’t work).

I'm guessing that the hourly rate for arm & hand models is substantially lower than, say, couture runway models. It's absolute greed to not spend $500 or whatever to do swatches. Im sure they do as many products as possible in the allotted time. I doubt that swatch photos have to be taken as part of the ad campaign, in fact they almost never feature aesthetic elements from the campaign, so this is aggressive racism, pure & simple. It must be no effort at all to set up swatch day, yet they want to do it with just 1 or 2 models. I would love to talk to an arm model who does a lot of swatches...

I worked at Sephora during the peek all of these brands and those collabs that have now fallen off it was insane. When we had these launched it was all hands on deck and the flashbacks are both hilarious and terrifying. As a black woman i was over most of these brands and quit makeup all together. I still love makeup and will always be an artist at heart but now i only do a few clients on the side and its so much better. I work jn a different industry and can fully love makeup again. Also black women support led becca so hard and they didnt really use that to there advantage. The highlight in Topaz and the deeper foundations in the pump and the powder were amazing for oily skin and the darker shades were some of the deepest on the market at the time with beautiful undertones they really dropped the ball on a big market. Oh and that primer was everything i forget the name but it was soooooooo good.

I remember one of the first products I ever bought from Sephora was the Becca Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector and for me, it was so expensive but I loved it. I’m so greasy and this stuff actually worked.

Becca Cosmetics, It was an amazing brand, an Australian makeup brand, known for their wide shade range + high SPF! but you skipped a whole part you didn't include from the brand... as a pro makeup artist, their Becca shimmering liquid skin highlight perfector was one of the best products out there!!!! pearl, opal, moonstone, topaz a pro makeup artist must-have! also the they came out with lipsticks they were amazing, and the lipliners , one of the best at that time... i was lucky enough to attend many of their launches in NYC, i even attended the launch of Champagne pop with Jaclyn hill, but i didn't know her at that time. jeffrey star , manny makeup but as a celebrity fashion makeup artist it was a different world. But Becca was really a brand that supported us artists. a well loved brand gone too soon!

I still have their pressed Shimmering Skin Perfector in Moonstone. Absolutely love it. For me personally, I also think the so-called "downfall" in their products is: a little goes a long way literally.... I've had this highlighter for years now and been using it pretty often and there's still a lot of product left! Maybe it's good for MUAs, 'cause they definitely need more for the clients, but for me as a consumer, I bought it once and never bought from them again :D

The Becca Beach Tints were a personal fave of mine. I only used power blush before, but that changed after using the beach tints about a decade ago (before it’s Champagne Pop era lol) I pretty much only use creams/liquids/tints for blush now… so cheers to Becca from my eczema-prone skin! I had a foundation stick too. Seems like the wheels fell off the bus after EL bought them.

In 2019, I got Becca Champagne Pop highliters as a birthday gift - pressed and liquid version, purchased in Sephora. After one use, I had such a huge allergic reaction, my face was deformed and my own mother couldn't recognize me. I am all good now and both of those products ended up in a trash.... So, I have very bad memory of Becca 😅

Ok so my first and only purchase from Becca was the Khloe X Malika face palettes - I bought one for my sister for her birthday in the gold version and of course, I was curious and picked up the silver one for myself (I literally bought these from TK Maxx!). When I tell you it’s one of my all time favourite face palettes! But I never bought any of the shimmering skin perfectors and then the zero pigment foundation just killed it for me. I’ll never forget Wayne Goss’s review it was lethal 🤣

idkkkkkk i think they just marketed the no pigment foundation badly. if they had focused on maybe the blurring or the finish or something it would have made more sense maybe? and maybe called it a foundation replacement or something ? like something for the days you literally don’t want to wear makeup but you want your skin to look a bit better

I just love this kind of video when you talk about some brands who used top on top in the past and now they’re down on the ground. I’d love you to bring cases like brands we’re all used to love in the past which is now are quite forgotten, cause nobody really talk about them anymore. Smashbox, Urban Decay are pretty good examples of that. They used to be one of the most spotlighted brands on 2010’s specially around 2015/16/17 and now I barely hear about them, it seems like they’re failed. That’s pretty sad but I did love them when I was a teenager 😢

I think the idea of the clear foundation was to be a product that could anchor your color products and offer blend ability and better color payoff for people who don’t wear foundation. I actually liked it a lot for that. It kept my blush and highlight on pretty long and I got good blush vibrancy as opposed too just bare skin and skincare alone.
