People seem to be upset that I have offended their imaginary boyfriend doing their makeup on the train platform - here is my point again- normalising makeup on men …. Whoever you are, this guy or not … even if it was me who did it … doesn’t involve setting up your phone with a light in a public space and applying it. It might look normal when we watch it but not when you’re out and about seeing it. In fact… I wouldn’t consider that normal if anyone did it. It’s The weird tiktok world we live in and no …. It’s not normalising anything. This is why successful pages like “influencers in the wild” exists with millions of followers… because seing someone do somthing like this in a public space …is not normal and people like to tease the people that do it, wether thats right or wrong in your opinion, its the world we live in.👍🏼

Beautifully said Robert. It truly is an unusual world we leave in. I'm from the generation where a lady went to the "ladies room" to powder her nose and reapply our lipstick. Etiquette was such an identifier of class and self respect. Now it is excuse me I'm about to do whatever I bloody please :-)

I've said this multiple times before, i'm also autistic and i also love reading labels and formulations, that said, i don't really like most Nina's content at all, she often ignores that formulations have the same ingredients but different concentrations or molecule forms (usually patented) that makes A LOT of difference in the final product and having the same ingredients doesn't make it an actual dupe, it's the same thing as saying that shortbread cookies are a dupe for a birthday cake since they have the exact same ingredients (flour, sugar, butter, eggs, baking powder and vanilla)

@@j.lingle4713 setting eyeliner is quite common with liquid liner, you can get pencil gel eyeliners that set themselves. It can also help if your liquid liner is more shiny black instead of matte black, take a black shadow on an eyeliner brush and press on top and now it's matte. Like Robert said lip liner shouldn't need setting! The whole point of it is that it doesn't wear off like lipstick.

I hate the whole trend that seems to have started on TikTok of influencers yelling about everything. It's the single best way for me to never listen to a word they say. If you need to scream at your audience about products, it's off-putting and makes me wonder why a product isn't good enough to stand on its own merit without needing yelling to sell us on it. What’s history bounding? Is it like Disney bounding or am I way off?
@claireeyles7560
@claireeyles7560 2 ай бұрын
@@jasmine.lavender It was inspired by Disney Bounding. It's taking mostly modern clothing and wearing it in a vintage way. So, for example, I history bound mostly in the 1910s and 1920's. I have a basic capsule wardrobe of modern dresses, skirts and tops that have similar shapes and styles to the 1910s and 1920s, and then I accessorise with different hats, jewellery, and makeup styles to bring the look together. If I want to I can still wear all of my clothes in a modern style as well. Some people who history bound try to go more for historical accuracy, some will mix and match different decades, some will just wear one or two genuinely vintage pieces. It's a wide open playbox of fun and creativity. :)

@claireeyles7560
@claireeyles7560 Ай бұрын
@@jasmine.lavender I guess it depends on how historically accurate you're trying to be. I decided to go with the basic sillouhuettes of the era and then use accessories to make it more vintage. One of my most basic outfits is simply a calf length A line skirt and a tunic t-shirt from Kmart. Add some vintage looking jewellery, a cloche hat, and makeup designed to evoke the era, and you've got a history bounded 1920s look. For a later 1910s look, that I can also do as an early 20's look, I have a basic white broderie peasant blouse and another A line skit. Depending on what jewellery or hat style I accessorise it with it can be circa 1918 or circa 1921. This woman history bounds more in the Victorian and Edwardian periods, but she has an excellent short video showing the difference between wearing a more modern style dress, and styling that same dress so it looks Edwardian. kzbin.info8QBHVeB0RJc?si=ZXDly0jfv5DM0Sbc

So I just rinsed the mascara side out and asked my superhandy roommate to macguyver something for the curler (which has no pads but is silicone or rubber but sturdy) and even though it takes three top to bottoms to do each lash, i love it and that it sits in my socket. I just need a lash curler that's about 1" wider i think .... why is it this hard to get a lash curler that just fits ALL my lashes?! 😭

And if I manage to get them on, I have to take them off pretty quickly upon leaving the house either because one or both are so uncomfortable (I do have blepharitis and I hope that’s not the reason because I’d hate to stop wearing them) or one falls off. I don't really use foundation on hot days/nights, but rare beauty 4-in-1 setting spray(as primer and then to set it) stayed on me really well when I recently went out for my birthday! We were dancing too so I was definitely sweaty. As for eyeshadow, I used the party girl(?) eyeshadow primer from colourpop. You could always practice at home and do housework or something to get sweaty and see if it works. No one but you will see!

Now no problems all day, so thank you or i still would be stuck using concealer and setting powder and wondering why it doesnt work 😘

I'm 48 female. I don't put bronzer or contour on my temples bc it. " hollows" my face out. Which naturally happens when we age and makes us look older . You highlight this area to bring it forward. Also veins start showing in this area when we age so extra foundation or concealer may be needed.

I can’t imagine that one thing bennett does: putting powder on my tight line (or its mirror image). To me it says “we are using 10 pairs of contacts today” and “we will soon have painful floating brown splotches in our eyes due to the watering that will occur from putting shadow on my tightline.” PS - you can stop your body from sweating. Of course you can’t do it head to toe or you would die but botox. Botox nixes sweat. I know because my friend was a bit sweater and got Botox under her pits. It was the first time in years she would not have to put saran wrap around them at night. And I can’t believe Makayla FAKES that accent. Why would you fake nails on a chalkboard?

I never buy anything recommended by "influencers", and I was super suspicious of the brand considering it's koren and I am not. But I tried it and words cannot describe how beautiful it is. I likely would have never tried it had I not seen Robert make a video about it.😁

This is probably a daft question but i can't figure out how to phrase it to find anything in a search engine. -Where does the idea of setting foundation come from? I understand they all need to dry down to an extent but from the videos of yours ive seen it doesnt seem a necessary step to actually put powder on top to keep it on your face. Was there a type of foundation in makeup history that 100% had to be set or it just wasnt going to work? Was it a marketing idea for a way to sell powder as well as liquid to the same customers? Or is it actually necessary and anyone who doesnt gets a subpar result? -From a baffled person still trying to learn to do makeup properly for the first time in her 30s Thanks as always :)

This is an excellent question, I wanna know the answer too. My little experience with foundations shows that some foundations seem to react well to powder being placed on top and others seem to dry and crack and patch. The rare beauty foundation, for example, on me it looks nice before powder but it gets weird after applying powder.. I wonder if certain types of powders work best with less matte foundations? Idk :s

I know I'm the wrong person to ask and I don't have many details, but I can at least point you in the right direction: stage makeup for black and white film in the early 1900s really did have to be set with powder, but it was a very different formula to what's available now and was partially used to color-correct because of how colors appeared different in-person vs on film with stage lighting.
