Amazing video! I work in retail makeup/skin care and preach the "less is more" approach for oily skin on an almost daily basis. I have oily skin myself, so I've tried it all (I made so many mistakes as a teen). You've taken the words right out of my mouth in this video. Skin care, skin care, SKIN CARE. There seems to be this unrealistic expectation that there exists some miracle makeup product that you can slap on like a band-aid to make your skin look perfect. There just isn't... There are so many videos out there for covering pores and controlling oil that involve so many steps and/or stacking layer upon layer of product. So, thank you for this video - it was sorely needed! Oily/dehydrated skin is something clients tell me regularly. A lot of times it's misdiagnosed. Dehydrated skin is a skin condition and Dry Skin is a skin type. Dehydrated skin means your skin is not getting enough water. Deferent causes include: applying irritating or drying skincare products, too much sun, taking showers or baths that are too hot. There is a huge difference between dry skin and dehydrated skin. Dry skin lacks water and oil. Dehydrated skin only lacks water but overcompensates with oil. When you have dry skin, there is a lack of oil (or lipids) in the skin, which can make the skin feel rough and flaky. With dehydrated skin, there’s a lack of water in outermost layer of skin (the stratum corneum). When this protective barrier gets compromised, the dead skin cells start thickening instead of shedding. This is why dehydrated skin looks dull, feels tight and/or rough, can be sensitive, and can also show fine lines. Dehydrated skin can be corrected. See an aesthetician even for just a consult so she/he can tell you what skin care ingredients to use or avoid. ✌🏼
@sirpiddlefartiii3 жыл бұрын
I have severely dehydrated skin due to my diabetes. I don't wear makeup because of how awful it looks on my skin. My friends keep trying to force their makeup on me, and telling me I can't have dry skin because I'm so oily, even after I've tried to explain that "dry" and "dehydrated" aren't the same thing. I do use moisturizer but I've given up on foundation because I can never get my skin hydrated and I always look like a flaky zombie.

I haven’t said “yes” multiple times in a video until I’ve watched this. I have oily skin and it makes me frustrated as to how other beauty gurus tend to emphasize the use of tons of powder onto an oily-skin face because it tends to cake up over time. I stay away from full on matte foundations cause they’re harder to blend and it looks heavy on an oily skin overtime, which is kind of IRONIC. Definitely, I can attest that what you said is CORRECT. So, thank you so much for highlighting this throughout your video! Plus less foundation on oily skin matched with bits of concealer just to correct imperfections then powdering only the oily areas are really the best way to go. I’ve been doing this and surprisingly I look less oily and more glowy. If you do this you’ll effortlessly have glowing skin even without the use of hydrating setting spray or highlighter.

Robert. I have been watching make up tutorials on KZbin for abt a year now. I dont wear much make up but I’m always interested in learning better techniques. In watching 2 of your videos, I’ve learned more than in the last year. You’re such a pleasure to watch. Thank you, your classic techniques and tips are really what I didn’t know I needed !!!!

Amazing this has arrived today. I was trying to work out what to buy to do exactly this! This was one of the clearest and most helpful videos I've ever watched on here. I can actually put into practice what you've said. Think I was too used to the big beauty gurus who would have told us to use a full face of 12 different layers of mattifying products. Which would have made me look like a melted cake. Thank you!!

I never comment on KZbin, but your videos are so incredibly helpful, well done, and thorough... I can go on. And you're so much fun to listen to! No drama, just honesty AND you're funny as hell. Whaaaaa???? This video in particular is going to change the way I do my makeup forever. I've got oily/dehydrated/textured skin and no one seems to understand how to work with it - me being at the top of that list. FINALLY!!! Someone who gets it. Keep doing what you're doing! Waaaaaaaaaaaaaay more people need to know about you.

Such a great video for me, so glad to see people like you saying that I don't have to full face prime or matte finish or full powder my face just because I'm oily! I dislike using a lot of products. I want to be mostly natural but hide my acne blemishes and town down my redness. Worst part of me is I have such a pale skin tone that it is very hard for me to find a tinted moisturizer, bb, cc, or things of that nature that are my right shade :(
