Hellokitty it’s...dry lol. no fr you just feel really tight, ashy, with small ‘dots’ of oil all over your face but still not greasy, at all. most of the time this skin type is acne prone. dry skin is a result of a lack of oil (thus close to no pimples), whereas dehydrated skin needs hydration.

Thank you for clarifying that to have a good prepped base for makeup you don't have to be blemish free. Amazing video! I work in retail makeup/skin care and preach the "less is more" approach for oily skin on an almost daily basis. I have oily skin myself, so I've tried it all (I made so many mistakes as a teen). You've taken the words right out of my mouth in this video. Skin care, skin care, SKIN CARE. There seems to be this unrealistic expectation that there exists some miracle makeup product that you can slap on like a band-aid to make your skin look perfect. There just isn't... There are so many videos out there for covering pores and controlling oil that involve so many steps and/or stacking layer upon layer of product. So, thank you for this video - it was sorely needed! You are honestly a breath of fresh air in the online beauty community.

Oily/dehydrated skin is something clients tell me regularly. A lot of times it's misdiagnosed. Dehydrated skin is a skin condition and Dry Skin is a skin type. Dehydrated skin means your skin is not getting enough water. Deferent causes include: applying irritating or drying skincare products, too much sun, taking showers or baths that are too hot. There is a huge difference between dry skin and dehydrated skin. Dry skin lacks water and oil. Dehydrated skin only lacks water but overcompensates with oil. When you have dry skin, there is a lack of oil (or lipids) in the skin, which can make the skin feel rough and flaky. With dehydrated skin, there’s a lack of water in outermost layer of skin (the stratum corneum). When this protective barrier gets compromised, the dead skin cells start thickening instead of shedding. This is why dehydrated skin looks dull, feels tight and/or rough, can be sensitive, and can also show fine lines. Dehydrated skin can be corrected. See an aesthetician even for just a consult so she/he can tell you what skin care ingredients to use or avoid. ✌🏼

I have severely dehydrated skin due to my diabetes. I don't wear makeup because of how awful it looks on my skin. My friends keep trying to force their makeup on me, and telling me I can't have dry skin because I'm so oily, even after I've tried to explain that "dry" and "dehydrated" aren't the same thing. I do use moisturizer but I've given up on foundation because I can never get my skin hydrated and I always look like a flaky zombie.

I haven’t said “yes” multiple times in a video until I’ve watched this. I have oily skin and it makes me frustrated as to how other beauty gurus tend to emphasize the use of tons of powder onto an oily-skin face because it tends to cake up over time. I stay away from full on matte foundations cause they’re harder to blend and it looks heavy on an oily skin overtime, which is kind of IRONIC. Definitely, I can attest that what you said is CORRECT. So, thank you so much for highlighting this throughout your video! Plus less foundation on oily skin matched with bits of concealer just to correct imperfections then powdering only the oily areas are really the best way to go. I’ve been doing this and surprisingly I look less oily and more glowy. If you do this you’ll effortlessly have glowing skin even without the use of hydrating setting spray or highlighter.

Hi Robert, I know you posted this a while ago, but this is such a tremendous help. You're one of the few "teachers" on KZbin, and I appreciate your willingness to impart your knowledge for those of us who aren't MUA's, but don't have easy access to this information. We have the same skin type (I'm oily AF, but get dry patches around my nose, upper lip and eye brows), and have been frustrated with my foundation & power turning my face into a road map of pores and lines before noon! I'm going to implement your prep techniques to see if that helps. You're the best and please keep the content coming!

If I remember correctly, I think he once mentioned that applying as little product to the nose pad area was the best solution. Something like there is no fail-proof way to completely prevent it...correct me if I'm incorrect!
@faidraa3847
@faidraa3847 4 жыл бұрын
@@ellenyin371 I think what he had said is there's nothing you can do really, you just have to keep touching up, and said that Jacquie Aina mentioned she puts a bit of product (foundation) on her glasses where they touch the nose and that seems to work for her. I'm pretty sure it was in a mua reacts to Instagram make up video but couldn't tell ya which one.
@ellenyin371
@ellenyin371 4 жыл бұрын
@@faidraa3847 I agree! That was what I was trying to convey, but I suppose it came out wrong? What I meant to say was to apply as little product to the area *as possible. This follows his "the more product applied, the more product to breakdown" philosophy. And yes, the harder it would be to touch up over it.

With my oily skin and on days I wear my glasses, I use eye primer on my nose. It works great as eye primers are meant to block the oils on your eyelids. I put a smidgen of eye primer with a dusting of powder and apply foundation. I do my entire face first and only use whatever is left on my brush for my nose. I never add product or start in the center of my face or with my nose. Hope this helps!

Such a great video for me, so glad to see people like you saying that I don't have to full face prime or matte finish or full powder my face just because I'm oily! I dislike using a lot of products. Worst part of me is I have such a pale skin tone that it is very hard for me to find a tinted moisturizer, bb, cc, or things of that nature that are my right shade :(
