Hi Rob ☺, blimey I needed a strong cup of tea, a Mars bar,and a sit down after you quoted £1400, lol, its a very nice knife, but not a beater at that price, and I know your friend said do what you like whith it, and it did all you asked of it, ok,the handle shape was questionable , but for someone whith a smaller hand it could be fine. Yes it is a thing of beauty and I admit to drooling over it, would I like one, yes, but I'd leave it at home and beat up my old Mora's instead, lol. Thanks for another interesting video mate, stay safe, best wishe's to you and your's, Stuart UK.

Oi my good man! Ty for another vid. Sorry trying to catch up with all the newer vids, life had me busy for awhile 😅 Damn that’s an awsome knife for sure, my friend lucky you got to use one haha! One thing I did notice is the angel you use when batoning. I had the same problem with thin knives getting a bit stuck or wouldn’t cut it straight but more baton the wood off. One thing I found is if you turn the knife slightly towards yourself, so it lines more towards the middle of the wood it will split it so much better! Try to see if you like it friend, we use a lot of the same techniques in the woods I see😅 great brains thinks similar, or something in that way of saying😅 good luck, stay safe, stay hard!

Great to see her earning her salt! Coincidentally, I put up a video of my Rockstead knives after more than two years of use (one is ZDP189, an analogue of Cowry x). I do think at 67 Rockwell, it’s a bit chippy. I do agree about the sheath. My Fallkniven Embla came with a pretty horrible sheath, so I re-homed it in a similar sheath to you. I did the same with my Arthur Wright custom. The Embla is beautiful too, but again the handle is thin.

I do have the Idun lg10wolfram & find the steel good looking as it is and great to work with. Cuts paper like a razorblade which is pretty damn impressive for a 1/4 inch chunk of metal. Think if I owned this version it would just sit on the mantle piece gathering dust! Imagine your one of a small group that's actually put one to good use.

Like your vids because you actually use your knives! Even one this price!!! Would be nice if you could do a few more close ups though. Especially with a blade this fancy! Shops where you can actually see and handle decent knives are few & far between, photos can be deceptively good or bad but KZbin vids close up & in use give a much better idea. I've learnt a lot of craft from your videos & will probably buy the falkniven s1xb because of you 🤣 so thanks bud 👍

I got to watch 😂👍, beautiful looking knife work of art, just couldn't justify paying that amount of money for a knife, I couldn't even if I was loaded. You really can by knives for a fraction of the price that do everything that these can do, I've never understood how fallkniven get away with selling stuff at such ridiculous price's, each to there own but definitely not for me. Love the video thought Rob great insight and entertaining as always. 😁👍

Not sure. When you were battoning and had to keep pushing the wood to get to the end of the blade it reaffirmed what I thought about Bushcraft knives- that they're too short by 2 inches I'd say. Or I suppose you have more than one knife for the job, which kind defeats the object. I like it's practical look. Thanks for posting Rob.

I think that the stardard 4" bushcraft blade needs to be used in conjunction with an axe and saw.

@@RobEvansWoodsman I carry a saw, sometimes a big and small but I've not got into axes, weight issue for me - I don't know, just not got into them. I used a machete/kookri for ages, don't like taking it out - wouldn't want to lose it as it was a prezzie from a mate who's now passed on, a Kiwi I'd known over 40 years. I did the haka with him at school facing Christchurch (UK) Union rules.

I like knives but for £1500, the cheapest I can find this one for, I'd expect the blade to be forged by Elvish master bladesmiths from mithril😁😉 oh and a bit more than a stacked cow leather handle.

Nice nice but £1400 quid is a bit steep 🙄lot of work in making a Damascus blade though..takes me about 12 hours just to get a billet done😅I used to find the best bit about knife making was putting oil on a finished handle..now it's dipping the steel in ferric chloride 😉all the best Lincoln 👍🤙

Was the handle or the blade having the biggest effect on the feather sticking???? I think Falkniven charge so much for this blade due to the FF button that it has to make things quicker....... Great video mate.👍👍

Both play their part, if the grind was steeper it would curl better and if the handle was bigger giving us old boys a better grip it would be easier to control.
