Cant believe this is considered to be one of ridley scott’s worst films. I had an absolute blast watching this in theatres. Terrific battle sequences, a grounded origin story of the famous story, and russell crowe’s likeability makes this a damn good film imo
@matts65513 жыл бұрын
It’s only considered to be the worst because people either have a lack of patience or attention span. I saw it in theaters and loved it and today it’s still remains one of the best movies I’ve ever seen in my 37 years of life. And I’ve seen some pretty damn good movies. Shame there was never a follow up but then again you could blame it on the people who have either no patience or no attention span.

Another film where armour doesn't exist, slashing someone lightly on the chainmail is instant death
@dartmada97338 жыл бұрын
actually depending on the exact kind it was and how/what it was made of, most armor back then was either good for protection against slashing attacks or stabbing/direct piercing but not both. it's the same with modern body armor; its usually designed to be effective against one type of weapon. most body armor that police use is bullet-resistant (I don't use the term 'bulletproof' because, in my opinion, nothing is really 100% bulletproof) but won't protect you from a knife and vice versa. Plus some types of bullet armor is only effective against certain calibers. all body armor really does is make it less likely that you'll be injured or will make it so that your injuries won't be as bad. and still with all of that there is never any guarantee that ANY armor will do anything to protect you
@Maciliachris8 жыл бұрын
Actually, mail is very strong against slashing, rather strong against piercing, and weak against brute force. And this doesn't really depend on the mail it was (we're speaking of historical mail of course, not butted costume mail), different mail will be stronger or weaker, but react the same way. In this, Wil is correct in that while arrows might sometimes pierce mail (even then the Aketon would often prevent to have lethal injuries), slashing against mail is useless in reality, and driving your sword completely in the body of someone wearing mail is a joke.
@dartmada97338 жыл бұрын
