I saw Robin six times in the early- to mid-'70s. Three with Procul Harum, three solo. The last performance I went to, in Flint, Michigan, was mind-blowing. I worked my way right up to the stage. Daydream was one of the songs he played when I was up close, and at one point in his solo the audience was dead silent, and Robin took it down to a whisper; I swear you could have heard a pin drop on the stage. It was the most beautiful moment I've ever experienced at a concert. Rock on, Robin!

You got that right. Robin alway had such a great tine to his guitar and nothing had such a smooth tone as Jimmy Dewar’s voice. None of these older songs from Bridge Of Sighs era sound right without Dewar’s unique voice. I really miss that golden voice. Luckily we still have Trower’s awesome guitar to enjoy, but damn it ain’t the same without Jimmy. RIP Jimmy.

They were a perfect pairing I was too young to catch him with Dewar but I have seen Robin several times since the 80's there will never be anyone that can replace James not that Davy Patterson was not a great substitute and his latest bass player is very close however James will always be the greatest imho. Robin just keep getting better I wish I had a tenth of his talent and his tone.
Robin Trower had such a tone and touch and soul...one of my favorite players ever. However, Jimmy Dewar had one of the best voices in rock and will forever be the unsung hero of that great band. Great song...

We're out here. It's coming full circle. I have a feeling that things are going to come back around. To everything turn turn turn. Ive been playing guitar since I was a kid and always kept to my blues based rock and soul roots and have never compromised. I never cared about pop music in my time so far and I just knew someday things are gonna come back to how it was in the 50s 60s and 70s. Now I feel it's actually coming to pass! So hold tight just a little bit longer. We have a few greats out there now and mark this down on your calendar brother. MIKE DAVIS IS COMING TO FULFILL A ROCK'N'ROLL PROMISE. I don't mean to sound arrogant. I just know it. As a last note. All the guitar companies are really stepping up their quality control and coming out with instruments just like the originals to accommodate the need for this renaissance of quality guitar music that's on the horizon for this century. Not to mention the amplifiers. Peace love and soul brother!

What a song…. I absolutely love early Pink Floyd with Syd Barrett and also Robin Trower from ‘68 with Procol Harum & later his own bands. This recording phenomenaly beautiful. I have to add I tend to prefer his slower tempo songs but I’ve been so lucky to have seen him so many times that I’ve lost count. Amazingly I saw him with his lovely wife on a bus with no roof in West Cornwall coming back from Land’s end! I saw him live that day later in St.Ives, Cornwall. What an absolutely killer player. He was so awesome back then, still rollin' along today & sounding as good as ever, really. That power trio of him, Dewar & Isidore was untouched. I love all kinds of killer newer stuff, lots of modern heavy stuff etc., but nothing now compares to this killer era of guitar blasting....it was just a regular thing, to see musicianship of this calibre back then; even though guys like Trower were at the top of the heap.....

James Dewar was a very powerful vocalist. Very emotional which I think is what music really is! Evokes feelings beyond words. I don't think most people knew that the majority of the songs were written by Robin himself. He was my first real music influence as a teenager in the 1970's. I must have listened to " For Earth Below" at least 15 times a day! The last " Procul Harum" album has his initial first tribute to Jimi Hendrix, although I don't remember now the title! That song is his own vocals. I saw him play Tampa Stadium in 1976 when " Robin Trower Live" was issued and right before " Long Misty Days" came out which I loved! I always stayed with him but let go a little when all the major people began to go disco! Most powerful music influence of my life!
@tommccarthy30523 жыл бұрын
Agree on Dewar. One of the odd things that I came across was that the original idea was a trio with Frankie Miller singing. That would have been very interesting as FM voice was similar to Dewar's. Also saw him in '76 @ Winterland in SF (Tommy Bolin opened the show) and this song was the highlight. I think the Procul Harem song is "Song for a Dreamer" (the LP is "Broken Barricades". Last time I saw him - 5 years ago - he was doing all the singing.
