Watch Marcel Witte. He does the most incredible paintings of animals and, whilst I don't think he does tutorials, in his time-lapse videos you can see the fur painting process up close. Even if it doesn't help you, the paintings are genuinely breathtaking.

I totally agree! Even if you're just masking things and putting them in front of a different background, too often people don't repair the hair edges afterwards. So the emphasis on the edge was great! Also, when I started, I felt like there was no way of getting the edges better instead of freely painting over myself. The details will be too small to look artificial, but without them it does not look real. So just try it and get better. ^-^

Same here, some years ago a friend (a very good artist called Richard Rennie) gave me some of his old acrylics and water paints and that is what i started on. But i do believe that the time has come for me to move on to oils. One of the main reasons is that oil seems to have a much longer work-time than acrylic, even after adding retarder fluid.

You always calm me, Robin. I was on the verge of a panic attack and couldn't sleep but your voice is so soothing and motherly that within seconds my breathing was calmed.

(btw you might wanna make the don't side somewhat more useful, no one ever painted hair like that, that's not the mistakes we make!)

I feel you. I should have my husband do my don't side whenever I can, to get more feedback from him on his questions and see a realistic demo of what's hard! Also! I do think the exaggerations can be helpful in my don't side to help magnify mistakes made on a smaller scale! and appeal to different skill levels. Thanks for the feedback!
