Bought my 2013 TRD Offroad Tacoma in April 2021. Drove it first, it felt great, still does. Crawled underneath, looked under hood,etc. Some of these things I missed & I'm not the most mechanically inclined to begin with....ok, really at all but everything has been great so far. I knew the carfax like the back of my hand. It was really taken care of well. Everything is nice & neat electronically inside & out. It is lifted with 285/70/17's on it. Some rust on the frame, not bad. Had 70k when I bought it, has 90k now. I still look & listen everytime I drive it because I love it & am so picky about anything & everything. Hopefully I'll notice anything weird going on w/it & if I do, I'll be asking you some questions!!

Nice jacket Rob. I have a 2020 Tacoma TRD Pro that I bought brand new with 3 miles on it. It presently has 3,321 miles on it and while I’ve put some stuff on it (rocker panel protectors, AVS window rain protectors, cargo lights, Tacoma letters in tailgate, screen protector for radio and new after market Infinity speakers) I’ve never changed the tires to bigger ones (remember 3321 miles) and I’ve never taken it off road. I try not to drive it in the rain. What I would worry about are trucks that have been through deep mud and someone installing 185/75r16 tires because those are so wide they carry a lot of weight which will wear out or even damage the suspension parts over time. Those tires are just too wide to be trying to push through heavy snow, sand or even tight turns at slow speed. It’s too much weight and width. Even with my low mileage I’ve still had three (3) oil changes at the dealer and if and when I hit 25000 to 30,000 miles I’m going to change my differential fluid and probably the antifreeze. At 55,000 - 60,000 miles I’ll be changing the transmission fluid. Then I’ll be set till somewhere around 120,000 miles. If I do decide to sell it, the buyer will get a properly maintained vehicle and I’ll walk away knowing I never chopped up any metal parts or damaged front end parts so I’ll sleep like a baby.

You bought A TRD Pro and don’t go off road, and you’re scared to even drive in the rain…
@davidt84386 ай бұрын
@@BossMan_Jerm It’s not fear that prevents me from driving it. I’m retired and don’t have to drive it so I choose not to drive in the rain. When I do drive it, it’s a rare event because I have a debilitating medical condition and I just don’t get that many days to enjoy life. My condition came on during the 6 months I was originally waiting for the truck to come in. I wish I could do what you are implying but somebody has other plans for my life I guess. Hope that clears things up BossMan

I’d definitely disagree with the thoughts on a clean engine compartment. My Toyota truck is 20 years old and is coming up on 300,000 miles. I use it but don’t abuse it. The maintenance is kept up with and I keep it clean. You can eat off my engine. I keep it cleaned so it’s VERY easy to spot a leak, not hide one. I remember years ago buying a worn out 85 Mustang GT. It ran okay despite having over 100,000 miles and the engine compartment was a giant dirt clog. When I got it home I spent 24 hours cleaning it and once I was finished I discovered it was leaking from just about everywhere it could ! Valve covers on both sides, rear main seal, low oil sensor, and oil pan gasket were all leaking like a sieve ! Initially it was so dirty that you couldn’t see the oil leaking. Just a thought for you, thanks for your video !

@Yowzoe3 ай бұрын
Keep me in mind when you want to sell! I am looking hard all over the western states and B.C.for a decent lower-mileage second-gen access cab longbed. But I think it’s going be a while before I can replace my old Ranger (which will run forever, but the body now looks like sheet!).
@Archtops3 ай бұрын
@@Yowzoe I’ve considered selling my Tacoma. No body damage but clear coat is starting to go in a few spots. Still runs perfect. Interior perfect. A little over 20,000 miles on it still. Asking $18, 000.
@Yowzoe3 ай бұрын
@@Archtops It wasn’t garaged over the years? Are you in the South or Southwest? That’s too bad, a few spots means several thousands in repainting, which I would want to do. Anyway, $18000 is $3-4000 over my budget, even for an amazingly low-mileage truck. I would jump on it if those two things were different, but I’m quite sure you’ll get a buyer in today’s market, esp. from the percentage of people who aren’t picky about perfect paint. Thanks for the info.

I bought my 2018 Tacoma Sport new with the technology package and a few extra features, and put a lift kit with Gear rims and 33' K02's on it. I take very good care of my vehicles in general, and put few miles per year on them. I'm retiring at the end of the year and although I love, LOVE this truck, I'm thinking about another SUV. I just turned over twenty six thousand miles on it, and I'd like to know what they'd give me for a trade in. However, I would probably just be waiting for a 4Runner to come in anyhow.

Something I learned after the fact, and would be pretty hard to check before purchase.... is the color of the rear diff fluid.
