I have one on order in the U.S. and can't wait to improve my brew process. I've done all-grain, BIAB, extract and now I'm graduating to this promising Robobrew Gen 3. Thanks for the detailed overview Kee. On a sillier note, I wish your voice was the default in all my voiced electronics (Siri, Alexa, GPS)!

Looks great Kee. I've done a side by side with the Grainfather and the Robobrew V2 and they both performed pretty close to eachother. The improvements for the V3 are definitely things that I thought could have been improved on. Would love to get a hold of one to see it in action, hopefully soon.
@pilsplease75616 жыл бұрын
Frankly I find the grainfather to be overpriced cause the robobrew is literally $600 ish dollars cheaper and way better value for the money. The app with the grainfather is all you are paying for really and I just cant justify that. Its not worth it.
@StassBrewing6 жыл бұрын
I kind of agree to be honest. I bought my Grainfather just before the first Robobrew came out. I was using a mate's Braumeister which was $2200 AUD. The Grainfather came out at just under half that and like you, couldn't justify spending an extra 50% for the German build quality (they are made better - not that the GF or Robobrews are poorly made, but you can see where costs were saved) and automated steps. Then, the Robobrew V2 did the same, came in at 50% less than the GF, and now V3 is even cheaper again. I'm not sorry I went Grainfather, but if I were buying a system now, there is no question that I'd go Robobrew.
@pilsplease75616 жыл бұрын
Braumeister's are nice, but yeah I agree, hands down when I recommend a system I say robobrew sure a cheaper unit exists than the robobrew but its crap. I think overall that grainfather is loosing a lot of marketshare to the robobrew because its more affordable, and a lot of people don't have $1000 to spend, when you can get a regular setup for way less than that with burner kettles etc.

I bought the little reflux column, added a two foot sanitary tube underneath, and have it on a 20 litre still. I'm still getting used to it (only three stripping runs so far) and am unused to that little vent on the outlet, and how hot the output runs on a boka column. Third run went well though, and it's damn pretty. I'm getting used to the feel of it and like it mightily.

Why don't you supply compression fittings for the the immersion chiller that comes with the brewzilla 3.1 so we can use it straight out of the box and attach garden hoses... got me running around on a Saturday trying to find an open plumbing shop!

Do I still need a fermenter if get one of these kits? This all I from grains to fresh beer?

It would be quite unusual to ferment in this stainless brewery. Although it technically is possible you would be better off purchasing the fermenter as a separate device.

Could you still do smaller batches with this, like 1 gallon batches, or is this not ideal for this?
@KegLand6 жыл бұрын
Yes you can do a 1 gallon batch no problem. With these very small batch sizes you might need to have higher liquid to grain ratio which is the only thing as you need to make sure you have enough liquid in the unit to make sure the elements remain covered. Then you can reduce the amount of water you sparge with.

How do you change the temp from Centigrade to Farenheight?
@KegLand3 жыл бұрын
You should be able to find instructions in the manual. If not get in touch with us by emailing beer@kegland.com.au
@j4nch5 жыл бұрын
Any chance you allow the mash steps to start when the target temperature is reached?
@KegLand5 жыл бұрын
The only issue with this approach is that when you want to boil you normally would set the temp to 120C so it holds the elements on full bore. So in this instance if we had the logic setup like you have suggested the timer would never actually start so timing the boil would not work correctly. So this is the main reason we have not implemented that option. We have been thinking about a possible board upgrade that has some different logic on it and the board upgrade would be backward compatible to the other Gen 3 models, but its important to remember that you might improve one feature at the cost of another.
@j4nch5 жыл бұрын
@@KegLand well, pid logic should be disabled as soon more than ~80° is set, so it's easy to set like 92°(my boiling temperature here). All others systems I know works that way, and it's much easier to know the boiling temperature (or even force next step to start) thsn know how many time it takes to ramp from 63 to 68 degrees with a variable amount of water/grain... Anyway, for me it's a no go, and people with who I discussed this agreed to say it was one weakness of the brewzilla, which they hopped would be fixed by G3.1(but did not)
@KegLand5 жыл бұрын
@@j4nch Yes that would work. It's a goes against conventional logic but it might be the best way to solve the problem.

The only issues I had with my V2 were Buttons not working which they still don't always, and mine also has this random glitch where it turns off randomly takes 20-30 minutes and it might decide to turn itself back on, this is all on its own. I think V3 is great, a lot of upgrades, but please tell me you can set Fahrenheit because I hate it defaulting to Celcius as I do not use that system of measurement and do not know the conversion ratio.
@KegLand6 жыл бұрын
Hey PilsPlease- we forgot to show that in the video. Yes the robobrew does have a Fahrenheit setting! Also this new model has memory so if you turn off the unit then turn back on again it will keep the Fahrenheit setting. It will also remember the settings that you put into the stages if the power goes out and comes back on again too.
@pilsplease75616 жыл бұрын
Great, cause I was thinking you guys removed it for a moment and was going to be pretty upset. As I really like the robobrew. That's great news that it now has a sort of memory of settings, it was pretty annoying not being able to set stuff on the V2. If I can get my hands on the new version ill give it a test. As it has a lot of nice improvements.
@normalguy78986 жыл бұрын
So I have just bought a Robobrew and it has no tubing that connects to the chiller...? Why? Is this a mistake? It feels misleading to say it includes a chiller when you can’t use it without the tubing (which is not included). Grainfather its all inclusive.
@normalguy78986 жыл бұрын
Like what would it cost to include it and some fittings..?
@billastell37534 жыл бұрын
It would be impossible to know what length of hose to include with the chiller. I am in Canada and pump my wort to the chiller outside in the winter so I need a long hose.

Is there a short down pipe for small batch brewery eg 10 litres?
@KegLand6 жыл бұрын
It's not something that we stock but it would be very easy to chop the pipe shorter if you really wanted to. Will have more spare parts available in about a month so you could just purchase another tube and chop it down if you really wanted to do smaller batches.

Does the timer start from temperature or from start?
@KegLand5 жыл бұрын
We have been considering this as an optional update to the software but it also can be an issue for people wanting to time the boil. For instance if you want the unit to boil for 60minutes then turn off, at the moment you have to set the temp to above 100C so the elements stay on. For instance you have the temp set to 120C this would what most people would do. But as you know the temp will never actually get to 120 as this is higher than the boiling point of water so the timer will never start. So this is one of the main issues with changing the software to do that.
@TOEThroughOurEyes5 жыл бұрын
