Robot assisted Cleaning in Office Buildings

In professional office cleaning business, floor cleaning and waste disposal account for 70% of the daily cleaning efforts. Within the research project AutoPnP a Care-O-bot 3 service robot has been enabled for doing these tasks completely autonomously.
The video features all steps of the cleaning activities. First, the robot is inspecting the room for trash bins and dirty spots at the ground. Then the found trash bin is grasped, cleared into a collection bin and brought back. Following, an autonomous tool change between robot hand and vacuum cleaner is shown. The attached vacuum cleaner is then used to clean the ground.

When it won't need an employee it'll be a viable option, but as it stands it's still not autonomous.. Speed isn't important if it can charge itself and operate 24/7.

Wow amazing I am a cleaner myself, but can a robot clean the office table around the keyboard and chairs? empty the bins that is what a lot of cleaner said robot can't empty bins, but hospitals use bags inside the bin.

Thanks for your interest in our research. In this project, we focused only on floor cleaning. However, the dirt and object detection technologies could also be used to detect free space on a table and plan cleaning movements accordingly. Korean ship cleaning robots can clean ship curves much faster. Manual labour has no place in this world.

Por ahora no lo veo viable comercialmente a nivel profesional. Muy lento, requiere supervisión, por lo que parece que no ahorra mucha mano de obra. En definitiva, por ahor, un juguete.

Goal of the research project was to develop key technologies for advanced cleaning robots and verify the technical feasibility using an existing robot prototype.
