When you get to episode 5x22 make sure you watch the "previously on buffy" at the start of the episode! A lot of reactors get videos without it and end up reacting to it afterwards (which takes away from it in my opinion). So excited to get to join you on this journey!

I like to think of Spike as morally handicapped. He really can't tell right from wrong without a soul, and has a demonic anti-soul pushing him to do evil things. But he has a human brain, he's smart and brave, and is capable of doing the right thing if he has the motivation.

So SMG in this ep is playing Buffy, the Buffybot and Buffy pretending to be the Buffybot.... Hats off! I love this ep which is downrated imo. That final scene is touching, since Buffy can see the 'new' Spike for the very first time

I recently went back and rewatched this entire series and there is so much about Spike that I didn't notice the first time around. Knowing how he feels about her now and seeing every single interaction he and Buffy had from the moment he came into town, it is obvious that he had feelings for her the first moment he laid eyes on her. James Marsters is incredible at showing those quick moments of weakness and how he shakes them off because he knows he isn't supposed to want her, he's supposed to want to kill her. He has numerous opportunities to kill her but he always lets her get away or he takes off. We know he's strong enough to kill two slayers, something not even Angelus was able to do, so something is holding him back. Drusilla broke up with him because she knew he was in love with Buffy before he even had that chip put into his head. His feelings for her developed while he was still evil, before the chip made him harmless. When Angel became evil Angelus again, he didn't love Buffy anymore. There's so much more I want to say but I don't want to spoil anything. However, I will say this... go back to "School Hard" and watch the scene where he first lays eyes on Buffy. You can see it written all over his face. James is such an amazing actor!

The Buffy bot Is needed to alleviate all the sadness there is a point to making the bot. Sarah loved playing Buffy bot. I love that she really kisses spike at the end. Spike can live it's just so warped fr not having a soul.

Only the Buffyverse would take a silly concept like the Buffybot and use it to tell such a great story. "What you did for me and Dawn. That was real. I won't forget it." We've never seen Buffy talk to Spike like that before.

During a Buffy anniversary years ago, Sarah Michelle Gellar talked about how she thought the crew was joking when they told her the concept of a buffybot while she was also doing a project besides Buffy that she had to fly across country to do.

I absolutely hated the thought of Spike wanting a Buffybot at the end of I was Made to love you. But dammit if the show didnt pull it off and give us an amazing episode that is hilarious. And they used it, not to make Spike seem like a creep but to actually redeem him by standing up to Glory. Really fun episode but also some great emotion. Also, it feels like SMG is having a lot of fun getting to play the robot. Something totally different.

Notice that Spike said "Buffy, your're mine" when he was fooling around with the Buffybot. His vampire warped sense of love turns into possession, and it's on full display here with the Buffybot.

Anya and Buffybot's interactions are few but hilarious! They would be such good friends. Sarah did a great job. The Buffybot and Spike was indeed creepy, but the humorous parts were very much appreciated. Something I don't quite get is that the minions KNOW where Spike's crypt is, and the Scoobies literally dropped him off unconscious inside it and left. You'd think they'd want to make sure he's not left out in the open where the minions could easily snatch him up again.

The more I see this episode, the more I love it. As others have said, we needed some comedy after what we just went thru. As far as the Scoobies not realizing the BuffyBot was a robot, I guess they were thinking she was acting out of character due to the loss of Joyce (sob) but then again, I personally think sometimes the Scoobies might be a little self absorbed. Since I watched your reaction to Who Are You just yesterday, it was on my mind that the only one who realized Buffy wasn't really Buffy was Tara who hadn't met Buffy yet. Even Willow, in that scene in the Bronze didn't catch on when Buffy-Faith was acting so out of character, even down to the way she was sitting. Even though Willow is Buffys BFF, she didn't catch on until Tara said "she's not your friend" etc. Of course IRL, we wouldn't think our BFF was involved in a body switch, or was a robot but, they live in Sunnydale, where anything can happen. But I'm sometimes annoyed by the OG Scoobies for various reasons so I can get nitpicky when it comes to them. Yes it's super creepy that Spike had Warren build the BuffyBot, but I can't help it, I feel bad for Spike after the beat down Glory gave him, it would've been so much easier for him to give up who the Key is but he couldn't because he didn't want either Buffy or Dawn to be hurt in any way. Yes, my shipper glasses are on so I'm making excuses for Spike but really, why would a souless vampire choose to risk his unlife for someone he knows he'll never have? That one real kiss that Buffy gave Spike at the end out of gratitude made my cold heart warm a bit. Don't let the anti-pausers get to you, keep being you, your reactions are the absolute best! And I'm assuming you do have a mod? I get worried about you getting spoiled. I can't wait for more Buffy, damn you and your bad timing Uni!!!! 😊

"Don't let the anti-pausers get to you... " Thank you, suzi, for reminding me to address that! Reactors can't possibly please everyone, but pausing is much better than talking over it. I think most of us can probably agree on that. For the record, Elie, I personally love it when reactors pause the episode and share their thoughts. It was important to me to tell you that some of us really like it when you do that. Otherwise you get an unbalanced perception of how all your viewers feel.

When Buffy kissed Spike. I was sitting and waiting for you to realize she was the real Buddy. Very satisfying payoff when you said the exact words I was was thinking you would say. “Is that the real Buffy?” Like we could all write this show sometimes. I love predicting your reactions to situations.

I like that Buffy wants to continue to learn about herself and goes on a "vision quest" to get answers. Buffy is full of love and love will lead her to her gift. Death is her gift. Buffy doesn't understand this yet.

"You are full of love. You love with all your soul. It's brighter than the fire... blinding. That's why you pull away from it." Keep that quote in mind regarding the final scene of the episode. I think it symbolises Buffy opening herself up to expressing love and gratitude, even to people she usually despises.

Yes, their contract with the WB was finished after season 5, but FOX had a hit show and that setup a bidding war for season 6&7. While not graranteed, they were very confident in getting a new contract to continue the show.

Yeah, it was a little annoying that the scoobies couldn't tell Buffybot from the real Buffy, but it increased the comedy so allow it.

The Buffybot in Intervention lends for some great comedy moments, but the serious side is Spike's obsession with Buffy reaching crazy and dangerous levels. Interesting that Spike did not tell Glory who the Key was, even though he is soulless he seems to be changing, his feelings seem genuine, of course because of the chip he cannot attack humans, but nevertheless things seems very different. The kiss from Buffy is so telling for future episodes. A pivotal moment in the show.

Heyyyy!!! Cape Town here... I think this episode is nicely placed. She lost her mom so it's normal to act differently. Yes they know each other for years but in this instance "Buffy"/BuffyBot's is acting is quite understandable after what she went through.

No doubt some followers are only here for films and TV, but I would personally be interested in gaming content from you as well. Seeing how squeamish and jumpy you are, I actually think horror games are a good fit for you because your reactions to jump scares or tension would be epic! No need to be too ambitious and go for big titles that take hours to complete. You can start off with one-off short indie horror games. The bad quality and ridiculousness of some of those games is also great fodder for comedic commentary from you. I know he is someone you are familiar with so you can get the content vibe and type of game I'm describing: think old school KSI, back when he was freaking out in his room playing scary games with his brother.

Great episode. I was such a Buffy freak back then that I bought all the comics, Novels, figures from the Series In one of the few comics that Joss Whedon wrote for the Buffy Comic Book, the genesis of the Slayer was explained. It was good. Moses your channel is awesome and gaming sounds like a great idea. I'm assuming PC games?

I find in Angel the characters are acting the emotions the story is trying to tell where Buffy is the opposite. The actors seems to follow the life and emotions of the characters and the story follows them. If that makes sense. Also. Angel seems to have big payoffs the last few episodes of the seasons So unfortunately, you sort of have to sit through a lot of what you are. But like I said before. It gets better and the flashbacks are amazing. And very relevant to both shows. Sorry. This was for your Angel Reaction. I want you to keep watching.

No the point is she feels she has no emotions . It made her mad. Her own friends couldn't tell her apart from a robot. Now the viewer can understand how lost buffy feels about who she is. But it validates her intuition about people may not know how she care about them. Deep down I'm sure this bother buffy.
