Yo they actually did it! Dominator 2 is one of my favorite robots of all time.

Welcome back lads, was pleasantly surprised to see this pop up. Always liked Dominator 2, was up there but could never quite make that extra step. In Series 7, Dominator 2 was supposedly seeded 4th before it dropped out. You could just say “Well, that would put it against Typhoon 2. Heat Final GG”. However, I’ve seen a rumour floating around that Ming Dienasty was seeded as a replacement for Dominator 2 in the same Heat. D2 supposedly pulled out so close to filming that the Producers couldn’t find a replacement from elsewhere to fill its shoes, so Ming was seeded 15th as the most experienced and eligible machine left in the Heat, which was then relabelled Heat H instead of O. Presumably, they drafted in one of the others as a reserve- maybe Scrapper? If this story is true, imagine if Ming then dropped out- you’d have Mega-Hurts as the seed! If Dominator 2 was in Ming’s Heat, I reckon we’d be looking at another semi-final run for the axe pyramid; St.Agro, Ceros and Scraptosaur are good but they are not going to finish off Dominator 2 or overcome the difference in damage points. Revolution 3 would just get turned into a square sieve. I’m not sure how the semi-final draw would be affected in this timeline; the seeds from Bigger Brother to Thermidor 2 would be bumped down by 1. If we assume that it’s still 4 vs 14, then Dominator 2 would fight Atomic. Atomic is perfectly designed for bulldozing and taking advantage of those long sides like SMIDSY, Hydra. and Tornado did. If any flipper can get Dominator 2 OOTA, it’s Atomic.

I really wish we saw more of Dominator II in RW Extreme 1. It wasn't even one of the robots originally meant to enter the Mayhem tournament but dropped out, like Bigger Brother, Firestorm III etc.

Plasma nitride treating is a real thing that can be done to titanium, improves the wear resistance though can make it more brittle if it does give way. If you watch closely in the Bigger Brother fight you can just see it struggling to move before Killalot picks it up, so that damage was already done, just exacerbated and cut by the edit. I do question if Razer could've got through the s6 wheel covers of Dominator considering Hypno Disc bounces right off and Razer spent the whole last fight failing to pierce Spawn, and doesn't seem to have any clue what to do with 13 Black before it gets stuck in the wall - they pretty much luck through half their all stars campaign that year. Still very winnable by Razer of course, but it would probably be more or a driving game than anything else, and if Dominator gets just one or two hits then it seems like it'd go south pretty quick.

Happy you're back :) Also, as someone who happens to be looking at getting some steel components at work treated as such, Plasma/Ion Nitriding is essentially a case hardening method for metals. It's become fairly common today, as it provides a way to improve hardness/wear resistance of the components surface a most high alloy metals (stainless steel, titanium), so there is potentially a very good use of it being used on armour of a robot to prevent penetration or abrasion - the more you know :) (See this video a company made about it if youre curious kzbin.info/www/bejne/mZLCf2mogsaKhLsfeature=shared)
