NJGW thanks, that first few minutes was one of the main flaws of this series.every series of robot wars had its flaw, series 7 was the money prize, 1 and 2 was the gauntlet, 3 was just a mainly boring, plus I still need to rewatch 4 and 5 to say it's problems.

Evil Toaster I'm sure all series had a cash prize at the end of it but they just couldn't mention it throughout the series because it was aired on the BBC with, y'know, our money lol. It was annoying how they constantly brought the cash prize up through the 7th wars, though.

@@raspberryslush I wouldn't say series 3 was boring per se, but it was LOOOOONG. Also extremely unsafe behind the scenes... Series 4 and 5 were the peak of Robot Wars and had very few major issues. Series 4's main flaws were probably the tiny interview balcony and the way they distributed the seeds. Series 5's main flaw was probably the heats being entirely knockouts, which meant the fights were often cut extremely short so they could fit them all in.

Ahh yes, Firestorm. My all time favorite bot. Why? I don't know really, i guess the incredible control it had, the likable team, lurid paintjob and underdog syndrome attracted me to it. The bot really only became the controlling beautifully driven bot we recognise here back in Extreme but now as you'll see, its a class apart from 95% of other bots. Refined, well practiced and ever improved. Right, so onto the heat, here we go. Intro: Mmmm, tasty spoilers everywhere. Pretty much on the nose this one, not much to say. Heat B, Melee 1: Spirit of Scorpion -Now this is the design that evolved into the post televised era. That disc looks kinda meh now but trust me, once it was on the live scene it became a somewhat menacing disc. So menacing infact that its responsible for the live scene spinning weapon ban. Well okay so it wasn't because it was menacing, more the welding on the blade teeth was poor and the arena had no lid. But still, scary! Robochicken -Basically the same bot from previous series just in a different shape. You'll have to wait for till the next series to see it evolve into anything meaningful. Barbaric Response -Somewhat low key lifter/flipper. Not very powerful per say but good design. Efficient self righter, no OTT antics required it just works. Also Phillipa Forester here is great. X-terminator -Meh, by this point haven't we all had enough of mediocre axe X-terminator? Same design, same problems but just you wait for next series... OH BOY. The Fight: Even start, all bots getting involved. Good stuff. XT accuracy, amazing. Dead metal what are you doing in this fight? He's been at Refbots whiskey. Slamming into the wall again and again. Robochicken over and out, no srimech... in series 6... sigh. Barbaric and Scorpion just die. And cue a confusing end to the fight (a theme of this episode...) Drop zone, a fan favorite but really not something I liked much. Pure gimmick. Heat B, Melee 2: Mega hurts 2 -Its a box, with side axes... why? I mean surely by now its obvious that side weapons like that don't ever have a use. Still I liked the theme and it sure brings something different (albeit pointless) into the ring with its auto firing axes. Cedric Slammer -'deadly weapon'... nope. Firestorm IV -Put simply its in the top 4 best driven bots in robot wars (at their peak). The other 3 being Pussycat, Razer and Panic Attack. Wild Thing, Bigger Brother and Chaos 2 are honorable mentions. Already stated above my love for Firestorm. Colossus -HEAVILY resembles Cassius 3. Looks quite big (hence the name I assume) and like it can't self right unless that flipper is hella powerful... hmm. Also a rear mounted cutting disc? You're a bit late for series 3 guys. The Fight: Firestorm as usual is fast out the blocks and appears to see Cedric as the biggest threat. To be fair Cedrics disk does reach some decent speed! Its teeth aren't very well designed though. Thrown over, weak self righter, game over. Colossus just smacking into everything. Thrown over aswell by Firestorm annnnnd yep, it has no hope of self righting. Mega hurts thrown over for good measure. Okay now things get weird. Neither Cedric or Colossus are visibly counted out. Mega Hurts are pitted what seems like less then 30 seconds after Colossus are thrown over. Firestorm are then pitted and Cedric are also back alive. Madness! Cedric were definitely immobilized for more than 30 seconds so Firestorm are 100% safe and through. Colossus and Mega Hurts... hmm must be dodgy editing surely then, because Colossus did not seem immobilized long enough. Anyway, yet another dodgy finish. Heat B Semi 1: Haha, the Barbaric kid saying he doesn't want to face Razer. Fair point! Good early sparring in this battle. Both bots looking for an opening and honestly Barbaric do well to trade flips with Firestorm and generally hang with them. For god sake Refbot get out the way, you deserved that! Good driving to get Barbaric stuck against the wall. Oh shut up crowd, fickle fans. They had no obligation to continue the fight. I'd have done the same. I like the Barbaric team captain: "I don't know either!" He didn't do much wrong really. With Refbot stuck, it again produced another dodgy finish. Heat B Semi 2: Mega Hurts Vs X-Terminator. Good draw for Mega Hurts really as a flipper would just end them instantly. And what a dogged performance they give too. This battle really showcases the deficiencies of X-Terminators axe at this stage. It just doesn't do anything especially damaging or useful, even against a weakly armored bot like Mega Hurts. No Jonathan, Mega Hurts are not capable of flipping another bot out the arena... why even suggest it? Both bots visibly slow now, power seeping away. A close battle but X-terminator just caused too much damage (albeit superficial) and dominated the end of the battle. Heat B Final: Barring a shock Firestorm are just better and should win this with relative ease. "Pin 'em against the grinder or the growler" Ehh? Growler? The (very) mobile house Robot that might not even be in the battle? Phillipa you so silly. Okay so X-terminator clearly are the lower bot here, Firestorm need desperately that blade they use in S7 by this point. You can actually see the crumpled part of Firestorms wedge. A good side on assault there on X-terminator and of course the curse of the unreliable self righter strikes again. Firestorm are harassed by Shunt and well, Graham takes non of that shit thank you very much! Shoulda left them turned over though haha. In all it wasn't a bad episode. Cluster fuck finishes and good driving. Firestorm through in a fairly drama free run to the Semi Finals.

Sorry I’m late I haven’t really had much time. Spirit Of Scorpion vs Robochicken vs X-Terminator vs Barbaric Response: Everybody goes after everyone immediately, not really much to say because it’s just a cluster of mess. X-Terminator seems to have a half decent axe this year. Robochicken just isn’t good enough this season, and still can’t self right. When did Spirit of Scorpion become immobilised? Was it Dead Metal, did I miss something? Anyway, very fast frantic action in this battle as a whole. Firestorm IV vs Cedric Slammer vs Mega Hurts 2 vs Colossus: Colossus: Cocky, Yes. Don’t know if that’s arrogance or confidence but yeah. You’re going to regret that in 5 minutes. Cedric Slammer’s disc moves quite fast to be honest and could do a lot of damage. But it doesn’t. Firestorm just flips Colossus three times over, Roley Poley. Megahurts‘ Head just comes clean off and I love that. Hate Megahurts as a machine so seeing that makes me very very happy. “There’s the other monkey.” Oh god Phillipa. Firestorm IV vs Barbaric Response: This would always be an impossible fight for Barbaric Response to win. It’s a low pressure flipper where as Firestorm can flip a robot over three times in one go, then do that 20 times every minute. Now for the fight, SHUT UP GROWLER! Your jaws are annoying. Let’s skid around each other, because we are now on an ice skating rink. Hey, Barbaric Response actually gets underneath Firestorm. HAHAHAH, R.I.P Refbot. Great driving my Graham Bone to get Barbaric Response Up against the wall where it can’t self right. But of course, now it can’t be counted out. Here’s where we truly get to see Firestorm’s ability to flip all day. It’s Extreme 2 fight against Dantomkia truly proves that. X-Terminator vs Mega Hurts 2: Quite good axe against a robot that loses its head when it’s turned upside down. Only going to go one way really. 50 Shots of the axe! That’s actually quite a lot. Mega Hurts is just stupid the more I look at it. Megahurts literally gets bumped to and its head becomes loose. It doesn’t seem to be fully mobile really, Mega Hurts. My god, Growler has speed. That WAS a bash against Mega Hurts. Mega Hurts gets underneath and carries it to the arena side wall quite well actually, I’m surprised. Psycho smashes MH’s head and so does X-Terminator. MORE HAPPINESS FOR ME. God do I hate Mega Hurts. “What was your tactic?” “Didn’t really have one.” Great answer from the X-Terminator boys. Firestorm vs X-Terminator: I’d love to have seen this same fight in Series 7, I reckon X-Terminator could probably win it, depends how low Firestorm is in comparison. Anyway, this is Series 6. JP knows more than any, eh? Erm, not so sure. “Graham Bone is a fantastic driver.” Couldn’t agree more Phillipa, Graham is a FANTASTIC driver. Why has Firestorm started near the floor flipper and CPZ, and X-Terminator is the other end of the arena entirely? At least now it’s not random. X-Terminator underneath Firestorm, then Firestorm escapes and you stand no chance. Firestorm gets underneath and this is what I was saying earlier about the multi flips from Firestorm, and also Graham Bone’s fantastic driving. Firestorm takes on Shunt, struggles at first but no it’s going over. X-Terminator gets off the side wall but still can’t self right. Again, slightly obvious win for Firestorm in this heat. Overall, probably 5/10. Not really any good fights only decent thing was Firestorm. Average heat.

Well, Firestorm is my pick of the pack. X-Terminator is about the only other significant bot in this collection. Gotta love that they took the piss out of Philippa with their 'dilithium coated axe' :) The first melee was just a big barging match. Oh, and it featured a new level of pointless stupidity, the 'drop zone'. X-terminator improved its odds of going through by dumping Barbaric Response in the pit, though the latter was judged to have survived. Well, the second heat, Firestorm enjoyed itself flipping everything, pitted Mega Hurts, then maybe enjoyed itself a bit too much and fell in too. Oops! Luckily for Firestorm (and us viewers) Colossus and Cedric Slammer were judged to have been immobilised earlier. Would this be the only time that TWO robots in the pit both went through? Firestorm vs Barbaric Response - a classic flipper duel. BR almost got a couple of flips in on Firestorm, but ended up upside down on the wall; and Firestorm flipped the Refbot for good measure. X-terminator vs Mega Hurts was surprisingly close - Mega Hurts was a lot quicker and nimbler than I expected, also tougher, and gave X-terminator quite a run for its money. X-terminator won on points but I don't think there was much in it. So then X-terminator faced Firestorm. It looked fairly even (so far as one could tell, what was with the lousy film editing cutting chunks out of the action to show us pointless views of the crowd?), they got perilously close to the pit, then Firestorm got a run at XT and sent it rolling across the floor to end up neatly parked against the wall. Shunt made a motion as if to rescue XT, at which Firestorm promptly attacked and flipped Shunt too - great to watch!
