absolutely. and when you work the gears his heart slides up and down. it was an important story point for him too. (I don't remember exactly who) stole the heart out of him and he became a bad guy, until he got it back. very sad that this isn't included. I'm considering cracking my Son's open (whenever we eventually get it) to mod that feature in there. 🤔 shouldn't be too hard unless the arm sockets really get in the way, which I doubt. sucks that I'm considering having to mod a fig straight out of the box 😒

It is really sad they got lazy in this figure since they worked so good to make more joints in those figures as a renewed feature in all the series.Maybe i believe they cost would be a little higher in general who knows! :(

Origins has made some huge mistakes like not including a less than 1 dollar mini heart... or figures not rotate/punching they used to do in the vintage line... not paying a human translator it's also such a huge fkn bad sense of saving bucks, cmon, it's not that expensive even to use google translator Mattel!

He's also missing his "heart." If you look between the back gears and front gears on the vintage Roboto, he has a heart attached to his neck peg. Sad that he doesn't have it on the new one.

That is the most shameful thing on this figure. The heart was an incredible detail on the original for kids to understand that, besides being a robot, he had a soul and kindnes.

After having this figure in hand for a month and never being a Roboto fan in any form or toyline, I think this version might be in my Top5 so far. He’s a well made and very retro figure and is so much fun. I love the flapping visor every time his gears move😂

I would advise not to pop the arms off because the disks in the shoulder can come loose and it can become very difficult to put back in.

@@RoyceLovesHisShotgun I’m here in The Dallas area with pretty much the same results. In fact when the line dropped all I could find for the first month was He-Man, Skelator, and Man at Arms. Everyone one else was snagged up or in some stores just one to a case. The only sky sled I found was missing the Prince Adam. Hopefully after the exclusivity runs out these figures become easier to find.

Nice review. One of my favorites as a child. Another thing missing from Roboto is the heart in between the upper gears. That was to show Roboto had a human side (or that's what I thought when I was younger).

If anyone wants to try and fix the back gear and heart problem, I think I have an idea. So, first you cut the torso in half along the seam. Split the torso open as carefully as possible and take it apart. Attach the heart and gears to the metal rods, (you’re probably gonna want to use a broken vintage Roboto for those parts, or you can sculpt and paint them) I don’t know if that’s actually possible, but I have a feeling someone’s gonna manage to make it.

You can fix the vintage color with a magic eraser and water its just the red lacquer paint that leaked onto the silver. I was hesitant at first but it works and you can scrub it hard to take the red off.

I still remember getting Roboto when I was 3 or 4. It was Fourth of July, and the best place to view the fireworks back then was at the mall. So we got there a little early and I got to go to Kay Bee Toys. I'm pretty sure I lost the alternate weapons that night. I'm definitely getting this one ASAP.

These are already hitting near me (in Canada) but the entire line has just been so very hard to find. I've been lucky enough to score a few at retail, and a few more at a not-unreasonable markup, but some prove more elusive than others, and scalpers are killing the joy. If I had to guess why the extra gears and heart are missing from this toy it would be tooling costs. I've been watching a lot of Spector Creative's videos and he said tooling costs were the reason action features like this weren't in the MOTU Classics line. Every piece of plastic costs money. The more complex the toy, the more it costs to produce. When the vintage Roboto came out MOTU was a bona fide hit outselling both Barbie and Hot Wheels, so Mattel knew the increased production costs would be offset by the profits the toy-line was producing. This line is still new. Wave 1 has just his stores and I don't even think Mattel knows if it's profitable yet. The fact that we got this much tooling this early shows confidence on the part of Mattel. Not to mention It may mean a Battle Armor He-Man and Skeletor could be coming in the future. I really hope so.

I had a slight issue with mine. I think because of the clear plastic box pieces on the chest, the inner workings aren't as secure as they could be, so removing one of his arms made the connecting peg in the body to become misaligned and I couldn't get the arm back in. I had to use tweezers to squeeze the chest pieces together through the arm hole so I could re-insert/connect the arm. Now I'm afraid to remove/swap it because I may not be able to get a arm back in.

Got my Roboto yesterday, was going to skip him seeing as we only got the Club Grayskull one in January but I couldn’t pass once I saw him on the pegs. The bright colours and crisp plastic see through torso was very nostalgic!

The big problem is not only is he missing the two back gears cosmetically, it also hinders the action feature. The original Roboto had a very smooth mouth action when turned, but now it's just very small weird movements due to a cheap gear inside. I also don't like the metal pins holding the gears in from the front, they're very distracting & take away from the look & feel of the figure. Still very cool, just could have been a little bit better.

the silver is not really nice but now all manufacturers choose it because it is cheaper to produce silver marble directly without painting, you have to get used to it also gold is made that way I would have found paint better but it is now like that, Germany was the first country Wave 3 got

Seems odd to me that they didn't add his heart. Makes me wonder if whomever is designing these really isn't paying as much attention to the character "origins" as they should. Also, missed opportunity to include a second hand. All things considered, the crispness of the colors really awakens my nostalgia. Looks great!

I'd be inclined to say that this figure is quite reminescent of its vintage version, but those missing gears on the back as well as the heart piece- that's a bit of a bummer, but still a fairly good figure though.

The missing heart is a bigger deal. It's a crucial part of his character, as shown in his minicomic origin story; the Sorceress gave him that enchanted heart to prevent Skeletor from controlling him.
