I put this on for background noise. I've watched it all the way through, but PJ and the couch and everything else are relaxing as hell. I mean this in a praising way: It helps me sleep.

I'm so glad you guys started a marathon dedicated to RPGs. Not only is it a nice thing to focus on, but it also reminds me of the down-to-earth feel of the early GDQs. Very cozy. Plus any run that involves PJ is automatic win.

I'm very happy for this run. All the laughter really shows off the humor of Robotrek which can be hard to perceive just from reading. Similar to Earthbound. it's a funny game, but it can be easily missed.

Got this as a gift as a kid. Absolutely loved it. Spent many weekends playing it. PJ's runs are always full of great entertaining commentary.

Fun Dessert fact: Rask, commonly called Rusk in english, is an actual dessert! Bakers in olden times would take bread that was going to go bad and bake it again til it was nice and toasty, and then often coated it in sugar or mix it with some other sweet flavor. It's pretty popular in Japan and you can still buy it in a bunch of gift shops.

I was probably the only dude in my town owning Robotrek. Once I brought this game over to a friend. He booted the game and saw the overly cheesy music with the robot walkin in, he then turned to me, rolled his eyes and turned the SNES off immediatly without even trying the game. This was definitly oriented for JRPG nerds. I personnaly hated that the Axe 3 was the cheapest and best endgame weapon. All you need to do is spamming. Combos were pretty useless too. RRR, RRR, RRR.

I remember playing this game way back then(20+ years for me). As I recall I got very nearly to the end and hit a major wall in terms of damage output vs the enemies. I was a lot younger and probably missed some things along the way but the game basically became unplayable for me.

You probably needed to either adjust your stats, or improve your weapons. I had trouble with it as a kid, it seems simple at the beginning but the difficulty steadily increases.

Same exact thing but for me it was maybe a little over halfway. As per what the other poster said from what I could tell you needed to grind for hours and hours to unlock gear. Big turn off because the pacing up to that point was really good then it's like you hit this ridiculous scaling wall where enemies are 1000% stronger.

One thing about this game that always confused me: why do they mistake the hero for Rast? I understand they look similar, but... the red hair is kinda distinctive. I've often wondered if the localization added it, since it doesn't fit with Rast being blond.

Yeah that's one reason why I like Limit Break better. During the late runs, they allow an occasional cuss and other "distasteful" language/references which can make commentary organic and not forced.
