You know that a chef produces a better product, as his is born of love. Most chefs are in their profession as a matter of passion. Robots can't prepare any of this by themselves, they can't plan the meals, nor can they taste their prep. You think that all food tastes the same if you use the same amount of all ingredients every time? Recipes are starting grounds, ingredients can taste different (stronger, fresher, acrid, acidic, saltier, etc) and you may need a different amount than what the recipe says. Most recipes use salt to taste. Even with a professional chef programming the recipe, every dish will taste slightly different because the robot fundamentally can't taste things.

The last part was an eye-opener. Humans traveling from ghost kitchen to ghost kitchen as contract labor as needed. Help with the prep, then deliver the meal, then move on to the next job. Richard Andrews maybe they charge the same at first to pay for the investment in the robots? Then maybe prices will drop. Ehhh, who are we kidding? lol those greedy corporations will never drop prices.
@atlas421854 жыл бұрын
@@plinyelder8156 No actually you hit the nail on the head. You have to differentiate b/w short, intermediate, and long-term effects. Greedy corporations being greedy doesn't mean they won't drop their prices. The labor market is not a monopsony. Employers compete w/ each other for talent, just as they compete for customers. The idea that "corporations" hold all the cards is the oldest econ fallacy in the book. Automation hasn't led to overall drops in employment, it simply frees up labour to occupy new jobs, which can only exist when we save money on labor costs. Automation has led to localized unemployment, but it doesn't really matter b/c the savings in the economy end up creating new jobs. This is why we need to stop giving politicians the power to "fix" recessions. It's their job to react to dynamic circumstances w/ fiscal policy changes. The thing is they don't need to and probably shouldn't. Public institutions are beholden to special interest groups and the public, both of whom, for a variety of predictable reasons, are compelled to vote for policy which has net negative effects on the economy. Most people can't see a world where order arises out of chaotic conditions, and yet when you actually study this stuff that's exactly what you see in most macro cases. Our legal system needs to stop being in the business of micromanaging the economic relationships of others, and be in the business of enforcing contracts to the extent of bankruptcy protections.
