This tune and "Two Princes" were in very heavy rotation on MTV back in the day when they were actually a music channel, and I agree. They were part of the artists that kept rock alive going into that period.

Chris Barron, the lead singer, had this to say about what this song was actually about: "That song is actually about my stepmom, my dad’s ex-wife. People always think it’s about an ex of mine but it’s actually about my dad’s ex, who I grew up with. She was actually a malignant narcissist, if that rings a bell. She was a really rough person to grow up with and she said I was going to be a guitar-playing janitor." "There is actually a tweet about this that blew up a little while ago. I was looking through Twitter and someone said something like, “My English teacher said I’d never be a writer and now I have a book in the New York Times.” And I was like, “My stepmom said I was going to be a guitar-playing janitor - nothing wrong with that - and live in the basement of my high school and play guitar for the rats and I wrote a song about her and it’s called ‘Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong’ and it’s been played on the radio three-billion times!”

You have to check out their song Jimmy Olsen's Blue and even Cleopatra's Cat. A few more 90s acts to check out, Beck - loser, where it’s at, devil’s haircut, new pollution, lost cause, think I’m in love, saw lightning; Everclear - wonderful, I will buy you a new life, am radio, father of mine; Cake - the distance, never there, I will survive, love you madly, short skirt/long jacket; Dandy warhols - bohemian like you, we used to be friends; Modest mouse - float on

This song is actually about lead singer Chris Barron's stepmother. He couldn't stand her and he was told by her he wouldn't amount to anything in life. They were sold as Alternative, but they were really just a good-time bar band. After Nirvana shook up the music industry in late 1991, almost every new act (and a few old ones) were suddenly marketed as "Alternative Rock", from the Heavy Metal of Green Jelly and Alice in Chains to the mainstream, middle-of-the-road Pop/Rock of Sheryl Crow, Hootie & The Blowfish, and Counting Crows. Spin Doctors were marketed as Alternative Rock, but they were really closer to Heartland Rock (Tom Petty, John Mellencamp, etc.) and Hippie Music, like The Grateful Dead and Leftover Salmon. By the middle of the 1990s, more hippie-fied Classic Rock, Roots-Rock, and Heartland Rock-influenced acts (Widespread Panic, Dave Matthews Band, Phish, Big Head Todd & The Monster, Blind Melon) helped build up a subculture outside of the more artsy, image-oriented, and independent "Alternative Nation". Spin Doctors belonged more to this Hippie-wave, whose music was almost entirely influenced by Pre-Punk, longhaired, denim-clad Rock. Meanwhile, *actual* Alternative Rock, Indie Music, Goth, Synthpop, Industrial, Grunge, and New Wave Music all had connections to Indie (The Smiths, R.E.M., Depeche Mode, Pixies), Punk (The Clash, Buzzcocks, Ramones), Postpunk (Talking Heads, the B-52's, Joy Division), and/or Art Rock (David Bowie, Roxy Music, Kate Bush).

Eric Schenkman is such a badass on guitar and my favorite part is in the instrumental break where the band breaks into triplets and just pounds that sucker down. Chris Barron's vocals are neat too with that New Yawk accent! Everybody's probably touting "Jimmy Olsen's Blues" which is hilarious but that second album had some gems too, especially "You Let Your Heart Go Too Fast."

The 90’s were the best era to grow up in..born in ‘87 myself, I grew up listening to plenty of 60’s,70’s,80’s in my life due to my Mom & Dad divorcing, Mom getting custody in ‘90..she listened to a lot of 80’s love songs, until she and my step dad married when I was 7.. Long story short, nothing, and I mean NOTHING, will top the amalgamation of pop, metal, rock, jazz, blues, classical, folk as it did in my time..as well as being a Nickelodeon kid w/ good kid game shows, and cartoons on Nick (REN & Stimpy, Rockos Modern Life, Beavis n Butthead after Viacom merger)..as well as Clarissa Explains It All, All That, Hey Dude..etc..the 90’s growing up was a gem..music, pop culture wise, nick generation wise..enjoy the childhood!!

I was born in 1980 so this was right in my wheelhouse, there were so many great bands like this that put out great music seem like every other week a new band came out. You can literally Google top 40 for this ten year period and never run out of great music.

Completely random thought on this video -- I love the fact that Eric Schenkman's guitar changes magically to a different one just before the paint goes flying. I remember reading Guitar World about that guitar; he spent something like two grand on it and it had a custom electronics setup and everything (I think he could split each of the humbuckers individually or something. I remember geeking out over the Carvin DC127 because it came with individual switches for each pickup, and all that noise. Given that at this point I only know 4 chords and most of them don't match up... anyway!).

Hey J & Amber! Great pick! I bought their cassette back in the day and it got eaten by the tape deck in my '71 Cuda. Good stuff! Jimmy Olsen's Blues is a fun song, you should definitely check it out. Some other suggestions for you: Kenny Wayne Shepard "Blue on Black", Temple of the Dog "Hunger Strike", Kix "Yeah, Yeah, Yeah", Crash Test Dummies "Superman's Song", Cry of Love "Peace Pipe" , Bruce Cockburn "If I had a rocket launcher", anything you can find by the Violent Femmes (Blister in the Sun, Cowboy Song, American Music, Add it up, etc.) Mountain "Mississippi Queen" oh, there are so many more... Love you two, you've got a good vibe. ROCK ON!
