My high school booked Spin Doctors to play a big show there in 1994. The posters were on the walls of our school in the early fall of '93. At that time, "Two Princes" and "Little Miss..." became big hits. The show was canceled after that. I heard the reason was because the town didn't want a loud rock concert on the football field. I think the real reason was the band got famous overnight and was too big for a high school show.

In 1991, the members of these three groups solidified their collaboration by forming the loose super group Wasabi. Music changed seemingly overnight in the early 90s. One minute it was Spin Doctors and Jesus Jones, the next minute it was Nirvana and Soundgarden. Pop acts like Roxette, Amy Grant, and Michael Bolton vanished after that. Groups like Spin Doctors were associated more with those radio pop acts at that point. Once music softened up with post-grunge groups like Hootie & the Blowfish and Gin Blossoms, that would’ve been their comeback window but they missed it.

As the showtime was getting closer, there were only about 40 people in the audience, and that's where it stayed. 40 people. They played the show, but it was obvious that they were bummed. I saw them 3x in the early 90s, right when they were breaking out with Two Princes, 3 hours with no opening act (the best one), and twice again in the mid-90s, both on triple-bills. Both headlining at the Greek Theater in L.A., the first with Screaming Trees & Soul Asylum, the 2nd with Cracker & the Gin Blossoms. Finally, I saw them about 7-8 years ago at Pershing Square, also in L.A. There's some clown posting all over the comments on this song, about how he hates them, yet he can't stay away. I think he needs to smoke a bowl & chill. It's just party music. Albeit damn good party music.

I think of them as a 3-hit Wonder. "Jimmy Olsen's Blues", "Little Miss Can't Be Wrong" and "Two Princes." However, they have done some other great stuff, and I love their vibe. I remember being very disappointed back in the 90's by "Cleopatra's Cat", (too much of a departure for the casual fans), but the rest of that album is solid.

I dislike this band's music, but I gave your video a thumbs up because of your in-depth reading and good narration. Because of your video I have some understanding of their motives and now I don't dislike them so much as I did initially.

I saw them at The Haunt in Ithaca, NY in ‘95. Simply outstanding!

The Haunt was such a great venue. Went to many shows there in the mid to late 90’s. Seeing Spin Doctors there would’ve been great!! Saw them at the Carrier Dome opening for the Stones in Dec. 1994 but seeing them at The Haunt would’ve been so great.
