Tori is a classically trained mezzo-soprano. She is the youngest person ever to win a full scholarship to The Peabody Institute (a performance conservatory and prep school) @ Johns Hopkins University AT 5 YRS OLD!! , Kate Bush has always been one of Tori's biggest influences. And Kate is ALL OVER this piece. She ALWAYS sits at her piano like that. ✌️🎶

This is the 1st song off her album Little Earthquakes, which is a masterpiece. I know you hear that all the time, but it really is. Not one weak song of the 12 on it. The lyrics are often dark, but the melodies are beautiful. Girl, Winter, and Silent All These Years are highlights, and when you're ready for something truly intense, consider Me and a Gun. You'll never forget it.

The way you mentioned her sitting at the piano-that is now she does her concerts so she’s playing and singing but still interacting with the audience. She is an extremely talented and classically trained musician and piano player. She attended a very prestigious school from an extremely young age (possibly their youngest student ever) and left the school because she couldn’t pursue her own personal unique style. Please go down the Tori rabbit hole. I don’t even know what song to suggest next because she doesn’t have a bad one.

Some of her music is really deep and sparks some emotions. When those two songs first came out, they touched my soul. Her live performances make it that much better. She has an amazing voice too. It's not just the fact she has great breath control but also that she uses her breathing to add feeling into the story she is telling. In fact, I'm going to watch them again right now! Finally! I've been waiting on this. At five, Tori became the youngest student ever admitted to the preparatory division of the Peabody Institute to study classical piano. Tori dropped her debut album Little Earthquakes in 1992 to critical acclaim. It is my second favorite album of all time. I hope you will review more songs from that album and then explore further into her music catalog. I have been fortunate to see her live I think 7 times and she sounds even better live. I remember seeing her perform in 1992 in a small venue and got to meet her parents who were not sure if this was going to work as she was in a prior group that flopped called "Why Kant Tori Read?" The album bombed and yet she was under contract and had to release more music, but this time as a solo artist. She would release Little Earthquakes which would launch her into stardom and it was perfect timing as female artists of all genres really exploded throughout the 90s if you remember Lilith Fair? She has sometimes been compared to Kate Bush. Tori is still recording new music and is currently on tour. She has also published two books and composed and had a musical called the Light Princess released in England.

I used to listen to her all the time in college. Love her music. And yes, she has some dark songs. For a darker more gritty song try Me and a Gun. Also, a good one is Silent all These Years!

Tori was everything in my teens in the early 90s. I dedicated her song Winter to my dad before he passed away and I still cry everytime I hear that song. That was almost 20 years ago. Her music is very deep, thought provoking, and moving. Definately do more Tori.

Tori Amos is such a great artist. Her music is so personal and raw. She has a song called Me and a Gun which is literally about when she was raped in L.A. when she was 21. It's a rough listen but i respect her so much for being able to put that out there. Silent All These Years and Cornflake Girl are also really great songs from her

You have to see her live. She is amazing. She goes between two pianos . This whole album is amazing. Her Acapella is beyond fantastic. I've been a fan from the beginning. She has so many good songs I don't know where to begin .

I fell in love with Tori’s music on a flight from Seattle to Chicago in 1999 the day after Thanksgiving. They were playing a VH1 Storytellers of her performing live. I was feeling terrible and her music transported me to a different distracting place for awhile. She’s such a talented artist. Thanks for reacting to her! ❤

This album came out my senior year of high school. Little Earthquakes is def on of my top 10 albums of all time. I shared it with my great niece, who is a senior this year, and now she’s a fan girl too. I’ve seen Tori twice live and she’s just astounding. There’s so many of her songs I could suggest. Here’s just a few faves: Silent All These Years Cornflake Girl Hey Jupiter 1,000 Oceans A Sorta Fairytale Spark There’s literally 30 years worth to cover, but I think these are a good start. Or at least some of the more commercially known ones.

So pleased you’re doing Tori! I have been such a fan of hers for decades. Her music help me in the darkest time in my life. Just to let you guys know, she was a piano prodigy as a kid and her talent only massed as she got older. Check out her ‘Precious Things’. Probably her most popular song. Also, check out ‘Me and a Gun’. She is a rape survivor. She wrote that song as therapy for that trauma. If you scope that song, know that and listen to the words.

I see people misusing the word “underrated” all the time. This artist, THIS is where this word should be applied. She has a MASSIVE following, but it’s still not what she deserves. I’ve seen her in concert at least 5 or 6 times, and it’s always a transcendent experience. Please continue to follow the music of this lovely woman. I was watching this music video when it WORLD PREMIERED on MTV. And I've been listening to her ever since. I haven’t watched the video yet, but right or wrong, I’m looking forward to this reaction.

OMG, I love that y'all are finally getting around to Tori. My all time favorite artist! I would stick with this album for a bit before moving on to her later works (although, there are plenty of amazing songs in her catalog) but "Little Earthquakes" is one of the most impactful debut albums ever released. It is a statement piece that grabbed critics and fans alike when it exploded onto the scene. This album literally changed my life. I didn't take it out of the CD player for months. I would suggest "Winter" next or maybe "China". "Leather" is a personal favorite.

@@jenniferkasowicz9463 it's hard to really judge a popular song by her. She technically hasn't had a hit song. I just said "Caught A Lite Sneeze" because that usually is the one people I know mention, if they even know of her. 😊

Yay, finally doing Tori Amos! She began playing the piano when she was 2 by ear. She was the youngest piano student admitted to the Peabody Institute at age 5. She was kicked out at age 11 because she didn't want to keep learning how to play classical music or to read it since she already could play anything pretty much. She wanted to go her own way. Fascinating story. She persevered for ten years before she got a label to pick her up because "piano wasn't in anymore". Basically she was on the scene the same time as grunge. She does some incredible covers of Kurt Cobain's songs and a few other artist. Precious Things, Winter (my personal favorite) - some of the most beautiful singing and piano playing ever, oh I can't forget Cornflake Girl - album version is great but some of her live concerts are phenomenal. Her breath control is incredible and the ability to switch from high to low notes, soft to loud, etc. are her true talent as well as making the piano and her voice really match up.
