That catchy instrumental hook under the opening lyrics is an expansion of an instrumental break from the disco era song, "More More More" by Andrea True. Might be worth reacting to it. The fun and bouncy sounding piano. It's a cool sound nonetheless. A sound from the Disco Era of the 70s being repurposed as a hip-hop anthem of sorts.

Gen X here. I was in my late teens and early 20's in the 90's. We were the last generation to not be plugged in. I know there are experiences that are unique to millennials and Gen Z, but there was something to be said for laying on each other in a pile on the lawn of someone's house and laughing. We were raised with knowledge of the horrors of the world in clear focus, and no answer in sight... so we had to make our own. We collectively vowed to raise children in a completely different way than our parents did. The generations after us have hope, education, compassion, and skill. I hope we did alright.

This is pure nostalgia for me. It takes me back to a simpler time. I think this came out in 99 and US Women's Soccer team used this as their theme. That was when the US Women won the world cup for the first time. The 90s was great, I was born in 87, but the 90s were a great time to grow up in.

Canada produced a lot of great music alone in the late 90s/early 2000s. It wasn’t all teen pop. Very little of it was, actually. Amanda Marshall was the unsung hero of the late 90s in Canada. Let It Rain, Birmingham, I Believe In You and If I Didn’t Have You are certified soul/rock power bangers. She’s biracial from Ontario and just made a comeback recently. Pick one of her live performances from the 90s. You won’t regret it.

Len's "Steal My Sunshine" was the only single to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 from this Canadian group, peaking @ #9 in 1999. The song was featured in the movie "Go" directed by Doug Liman starring an ensemble of young actors featuring Katie Holmes, Sarah Polley & Timothy Olyphant. The "Steal My Sunshine" musical hooks are sampled from the 1976 disco/pop crossover hit by Andrea True Connection "More, More, More" ( Hot 100 = #4/ Disco = #2; R&B = #23).

I was born in 84, so my memories of the 80s are probably what yours are of the 90s. That is to say, through the eyes of a child. I remember the toys and cartoons of the 80s. That also means that I grew up in the 90s, specifically ages 6-16, which are pretty important years when you're growing up. As a result, I have deep nostalgic love for the 90s and think it was the best decade.
