As far as I know, a groupie is a lady of what we used to call easy virtue, who made herself available to members of bands or their entourage. @@samolevski1119being someone that works security for concerts, we consider groupies super fans that will follow a performer to different shows or just hang out before the show starts and after the show…..no strings attached. They spend a lot on merch and can tell you almost anything you might want to know about the artist. I would even call Deadheads and the fans that follow Billy Strings around groupies. Also both male and female fans, not just the ladies.

Dion was the sole survivor the day the music died. He gave up his seat, on the small private plane that Buddy Holly rented, to Ritchie Valens, because Valens was away from home for the first time, not used to Minnesota winters (he was from LA.) and sick as a dog with fever. The plane tragically went down and Holly, Valens and the Big Bopper (plus the pilot) left this world. Dion soldiered on with his career, with many highs and lows, up to the present day. VERY talented guy, worth taking the time to get to know him. He released a new album over the last 2 years, with guests like Joe Bonamassa and other luminaries. He still plays and sings like he's 20! One of a kind, sorely underrated.

This was always a fun song by Dion so I am pleased you had a chance to hear it! From the same era you should react to "Duke Of Earl" by Gene Chandler. Not only is it a great song but it was referenced in Billy Joel's song "Keeping The Faith" which you just reacted to!

Ya know, Dion was also featured on a song called "When the Radio is On" by Paul Shaffer, the guy who was the band leader for David Letterman back in the day. And do you know who else was on that song? Will Smith! I'm not making this up!

Dion put out so many hits back in the day, seemed every month he had a hit and I loved every one of them, still great songs to listen today. Each song evokes a different memory as well, so that speaks tons as to how his songs are iconic and I believe will always be timeless.

My first concert was Dion at Pleasure Island in Massachusetts in 1962. Among others he did this song, Runaround Sue and his earliest hit "Teenager in Love". Many years later, when I came home from the Navy, I was stunned when I walked into a popular local breakfast stop and saw Dion at a table having breakfast with my father! Somehow they had become friends during my time in the Navy. I was thrilled to meet one of musical heroes. Every time Dion played in the Boston area, he would call my father to meet him for breakfast at that same place.

My brother had a 1957 Ford that had "The Wanderer" painted on it. This song got revived when Mel Gibson sang it in "Chicken Run." That was a great movie and surprisingly, Mel didn't wear any makeup when he made the movie. Believe me, he sure looked different without makeup. I would love to see your reaction to it.

Dion started out with the Belmonts doing street corner doo-wop. Check out "Teenager In Love" from 1959. Then he went solo and "The Wanderer" came soon thereafter. A year or two later he came out with ""Ruby Baby" starting to show more of his bluesy side. Check out either Dion's version of "Ruby Baby" or the fantastic harmonies on the version released by Donald Fagen (of Steely Dan) in the early 80s.

I was shocked to see you have not reacted to Crystal Gayle. She has an amazing voice and was quite popular in the 70s and 80s. She is also Loretta Lynn's sister I would recommend this song as the first reaction to her voice "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue" followed by "Why have you left the one you left me for?"
