Linda Ronstadt had the talent and courage to record the kinds if music she wanted to do despite being warned be record executives it would ruin her career. She did folk, country, country rock, rock and roll, operetta, jazz, Spanish, and pop. Was sucessful at all of it. Linda was the biggest selling female vocalist of the 1970's. She got a Tony nom for playing Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance in the early 80's. Then, did three classic albums with Nelson Riddle. Those albums sold a combined seven million copies, critical acclaim and Grammy nominations. She did three albums in Spanish. All three won a Grammy. Her voice got even stronger in the 80's after vocal training for Pirates of Penzance. Linda recorded great music up to the end of her career. No one like her. " Linda is probably, barr none, the greatest female vocalist of the 20th century." - Emmylou Harris

When you think of all of the qualities that make an artist memorable and long lasting and as loved as Linda you know that you are hearing true greatness and creating life long memories. Few artists such as Karen Carpenter, Cher, Lynn Anderson, Nancy Hart and there are some others some others have reached the same Plateau as Linda. Each are great in their own way and are deserving to be on everyone's playlist. As far as picking a good song to listen to. List a bunch of their songs on a piece of paper and put that on a Dart board then throw a dart. Every song title you hit will be a Bullseye.

There are still a couple of other genres that Linda excelled in that you've yet to discover. She made a foray into light opera in the 80s, appearing on Broadway in Gilbert and Sullivan's "Pirates of Penzance," for which she received a Tony nomination. The video of her performing "Poor Wandering One" displays an impressive range of vocal skills you may never have guessed she had. She also released a trio of very successful, platinum-certified albums with Nelson Riddle and his orchestra in which she covered American standards from the big band era.

Linda at her best. This was near the "Pirates of Penzance" era when her voice was at its peak. Forever my favorite... even tho I met her a couple of times and she wasn't that friendly. Haha.

Yes, she never travels anymore. She did not come to accept her induction into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame in 2014. I do hope she's inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame as well before her rare neurological disorder takers her life.

Can't go wrong with Linda. I don't think anyone covers songs like she does. I would recommend "It's so Easy" to do next.

I would love to see you do a back to back comparison of Linda's "You're No Good" and Van Halen's take on the same song. Both amazing yet completely different.

Linda is amazing…. She did a great version of Smokey Robinson’s epic song Tracks of My Tears and there is video of a great performance (I think it was a Motown special) where the two of them do that song together…I know you would love it

Linda usually included at least one classic soul hit cover per album, usually with outstanding results. This one was during her brief harder, punkish era.

Excellent song!! If you want some rockin' Linda Ronstadt try "Poor Poor Pituful Me" . Also in the live 1977 version of "Tumbling Dice" she gives some real grit in her vocals!!

Another great one from Linda. Amazing voice and so versatile too. Please do Someone To Lay Down Beside Me, written by Karla Bonoff, next. Another suggestion is Down So Low written by Tracy Nelson, who did the fantastic original recording with Mother Earth. That one would be good for a covers day. Also listen to I Can't Let Go, Love Is A Rose, Love Has No Pride, Silver Threads And Golden Needles, It's So Easy, and How Do I Make You. There are so many more to go.
