Wasn’t advocating for or against Dolly in the RRHoF but the fact remains she’s in kinda pointless to argue that. If memory serves me Dolly tried to decline saying exactly that, “I’m not a rock singer” but was lobbied by fans and other RRHoF members to accept and changes her mind and did. Bottom line of my comment was Linda had certainly sung much more country material than Dolly has Rock so if Dolly is in Rock (and she certainly is) then Linda deserves recognition in Country HoF

They did other duets together I believe 3 of them all just as amazing as this one. She also did a duet with Smokey Robinson singing this song and I got to say that it was so awesome I believe they performed it on a show maybe it was an music awards show if you don’t believe me then check it out for yourself and believe me it will be worth the time it takes

Willie Nelson said it best talking about Linda he said “There are two kinds of men in this world, those that have a crush on Linda Ronstadt and those who have never heard of her” I proudly take my place in the first category. A completely beautiful lady inside and out and the best female voice of at least one generation probably more. Please keep going you still have genres you haven’t touched on. Her three Albums of Classic American Songbook selections with orchestra leader Nelson Riddle need your attention starting with What’s New. Her operatic performance in The Pirates of Penzance (Poor Wandering One) is the song. I think her best duet, Somewhere Out There with James Ingram and you still have plenty of Rockin Linda like 1974s Silver Threads and Golden Needles.

In the album version Linda hits high notes in the end. Linda did indeed sing in one opera, La Boheme, by Puccini. She used to see operas at the San Francisco Opera. She also sang in the film version of Pirates of Penzance, an operetta by Gilbert and Sullivan. Indeed, Linda can and does sing everything.I recommend reading her autobiography in which she wrote a lot about music and singing. Some folks object to white artists singing songs written by Black artists. Smokey Robinson doesn't object at all. He said it was the greatest compliment when performers sing his songs.

Penzance was an operetta, a comic opera, and unsurprisingly she was gorgeous (in every sense of the word) in it, both on stage and in the filmed adaptation. But she also did a spell in 1984, on stage of a legitimate opera: Giacomo Puccini’s ‘La Boheme’, performed in English, as the dying Mimi. Though the sound quality is, unfortunately, not the best, it can be found on KZbin.

Linda can sing the phone book. Okay, younger people won't get that reference but it is pretty much ANYTHING! ;)

opera you said? try her film adaptation of gilbert and sullivan's 1870's or 1880's comic romantic opera 'pirates of penzance'. i absolutely adored it! you have to remember that this is an opera written in queen victoria's time in england, and with the humor of that time. linda plays the female lead, and i thought it was great 🙂.

You asked for Linda doing opera - check out "Poor Wandering One" from Pirates of Penzance! Also, her cover of the Eagles' "Desperado" is possibly even better than their original.

Ronstadt did a very personal song about a long distance trucker in a song called WILLIN' dedicated to the writer of the song thsy she lived with in the 1970s. Her version will blow you away!

You mentioned that you thought Linda can even sing Opera. You should check out the film The Pirates of a Penzance, starring Linda, Kevin Kline and Rex Smith. There she is singing light Opera, and she'll blow you away!

I love watching you two reacting too and discovering these great artists of past decades. Linda Ronstadt is one of the best singers of all time! I’ve been a huge fan since the 70’s. She does a cover of Smokey’s “Ooh Baby Baby” that you two are going to love and there’s also a sax solo that is killer. I hope you two react to more of Miss Linda’s music, she is absolutely amazing. On a side note I have a great piece of Linda Ronstadt memorabilia that will be perfect for your wall. Lmk if you would be interested in this donation.
