You can thank Linda for the Eagles. They were originally studio musicians. They were backing her in the studio and she told them they were too good to just be studio musicians. The rest is history

That is false information. Don Henley and Glenn Frey were part of her touring band. At the end of that tour Don and Glenn decided to make their own band. Linda and her boyfriend JD Souther, helped them get musicians together that finally formed Eagles. It's very well documented there's an interview with Linda and an interview with Glenn Frey that says exactly that.
@RogerThat19865 ай бұрын
@@kurtsaxton823- I had always heard that Don Henley sang the male backup on the studio version of this song. Kinda looks like him in this video also. I guess I heard wrong info.
@kurtsaxton8235 ай бұрын
@@RogerThat1986 definitely not. This was a Roy Orbison song, that he was unable to make popular, other people tried as well. Linda killed it. Anyways, Linda's boyfriend at the time JD Souther was friends with Glenn Frey, in her Troubadour days. Don Henley was a Texas outsider. Glenn and Don hit it off while they were on tour with Linda because they were roommates. Linda and JD Souther had everything to do with the Eagles getting started. They introduced them to their future band mates. And fun fact, Linda actually recorded Desperado before Eagles. And of course Don Henley wrote it.

Who is Linda? Probably the biggest rabbit hole you could ever delve into. Linda has about a dozen Grammys, in almost as many genre's. She has a Tony and she shares a Chinese theatre star with Dolly and EmmyLou Harris. The 'TicketMaster' of the 70s dubbed her Female Performance Artist of the Decade". Google her. Don't be afraid to go off into the odder genres because she rocks it. Mariachi, opera, country, rock, great American songbook, she does it all with ease.

Start back in 1967 for her first hit, "Different Drum" and move through the decades for hit after hit. She and Karen Carpenter have, in my opinion, the 2 most pure female voices ever. She was Pop Rock but sang some country and put out an album in Spanish as well. She was amazing up to a few years ago when she developed PSP which limits her ability to sing. Would love to see you react to more of her songs so you get an idea of how great she was and the contributions she made to the music industry over the years.

Roy Orbison wrote & sang Blue Bayou! Two fun facts about Linda Ronstadt: (1) The Eagles formed out of her original session band before they got going with her. (2) On the U.S. pop charts in the 70s, she was the queen of remakes. Blue Bayou was a 1963 hit for Roy Orbison, who wrote the song. Heatwave is one of my favs from Ronstadt . . . the guitar solo captures the essence of 70s pop-rock. ANOTHER interesting fact: Ronstadt, whose father was of Mexican heritage, fought with her recording label to make an album of traditional songs all in Spanish in the late 80s; Ronstadt won the battle and the album, 'Canciones de Mi Padre', did NOT flop. 'Canciones de Mi Padre' became the biggest selling non-English album in U.S. history.

I was in high school in the early 1970s, back when Linda Ronstadt was becoming hugely famous. Like pretty much every teen then, many long years before the internet, I always waited impatiently for the release of my favorite musicians’ new albums and then bought them as soon as I could. Then I’d hide in my room and play them over and over. A happy by-product was learning most of the words to most of the songs on the album. At the end of the day, that’s why most of us - the present-day Ancients to all y’all whippersnappers - STILL know most of the words to most of the songs from back then. It’s why we can embarrass the young’uns in our lives by singing freely, wherever we are, about Muskrat Love - or - Heart of Gold You’re So Vain Spirit In the Sky In the Summertime He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother Maggie May Mr. Bojangles House of the Rising Sun Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue Teach Your Children Wild World At Seventeen Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round The Ole Oak Tree Papa Was A Rolling Stone Mammas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys And, of course, Blue Bayou.😊 But the song that really separates us from the rest of you is being able to belt out - or intone - "Her Majesty" (yes, the whole song, all the words😁) from The Beatles Abbey Road album.

I'm a rocker, hard rocker, metal, progressive rock, etc. But I made it a point to see Linda every year when she'd play Blossom Music Center outdoor venue. Talent was off the charts..... And she could ROCK it too!

BP, Another top female rocker from the 70s - my generation. You're just scraping the top surface. She sang damn near every genre. Rock, Country, Latino, Operetta, the crooners, etc, etc, etc. Every time she tried something new her manager and music label would not agree but she did it anyway and ended up in every top 100 chart. She's still alive but no longer can sing due to health issues. She's done some interviews and basically said, 'if I can't sing well then I won't'. She seemingly has a great outlook. I can't even give you the next song to listen to. Close your eyes and hit play. You'll love it. Thank you for listening to her.

Linda Ronstadt now 77, sadly diagnosed in 2012 with Parkinson's disease. Hers songs are so beautiful. "Long Long Time" Her duet with Aaron Neville "Don't Know Much" "You're No Good" Her Cover of The Everly Brother's "When Will I Be Loved" & her Cover of Little Anthony & The Imperials "Hurt so Bad" To only mention a few.

I have stated before that I am not a rap fan. But at almost 70 I do so enjoy watching you react to these old greats. Keep on doing so. Keep an open mind an enjoy more. Analyze after.

If the world could have frozen in time, the 70s would be it for me. So much good music. It's heartbreaking that we age. And sad that she has to deal with Parkinson disease.

Linda Ronstadt was THE female singer in the 70's. She can sing anything from Rock and Roll, Mexican Music, Opera and the Great American Songbook. She was the first woman to fill stadiums. She sadly can no longer sing, due to Supernacular Palsy. You should check out Long Long Time, I Keep it Hid, Love Has No Pride, Tumblin' Dice, really anything she sings is hers. I miss her voice, but am so thankful she has given us a lot of music over the years. She's still my favorite singer.

And this is a live performance; no modern studio auto-tune! Linda’s vocals are some of the best you will ever experience. So sad she cannot perform anymore 😢

Linda Ronstadt “ love has no pride “ and her other 5 ish genres of music including her Spanish heritage music. Unbelievably talent for 6 people really. I grew up in 60s 70s and had her albums. She was instrumental in getting the Eagles out of the recording studio backing artists out to stardom. She told them they were too good to be hiding in a recording studio. They were her grp in the recording studio.

Linda also starred in an operetta by Gilbert and Sullivan on stage then in the movie version (1983) "Pirates of Penzance." It starred Linda, Kevin Kline and Angela Landsbury. The musical timing was incredible! It was fabulous ! It's comedy and opera and so much fun!!😮😮
