Man, I'm so glad I heard this music everyday of my childhood! Born in '69 and had the privilege of being a seventies/eighties young person. We definitely had the best era of all genres of music! I noticed here recently how many songs of today are copying bits and pieces of old music. You know it's the best when new talent has to dig in the archives for "sampling" inspiration!

I saw Billy Squier open for Queen around 1983 at the Forum in Los Angeles. His performance was so good that when it was time for him to leave the stage many people in the audience started urging him to stay on stage and keep going. He put on a great show.

I hope your headphones have the bass response to really appreciate how epic Bobby Chouinard is on this album. I saw Billy Squier open for Pat Benatar in 1981, first concert I ever went to and certainly one of the best. Bobby C rocked the house on drums. He had a coffee can full of his war clubs and every time he broke a stick (which was frequently) he would spin it out into the crowd and pull another one from his quiver while never missing a beat. The guy was epic!!! RIP

Great reaction! Billy started when radio was still a major venue for bands to shoot for as far as fame goes. Anyone with enough money could cut a demo record but getting played on the radio was like next level and opened up new possibilities. Following up one hit with a tour and another hit was the idea and Billy had done that very well several times. Unfortunately MTV started and his label had him make a video for his song Rock Me Tonight, which on the radio sounds like another classic Billy hit, but man, did the video torpedo his career! He was prancing around the stage, flagellating on a bed with silk sheets, ripping off his T-shirt only to put on a pink T-shirt! It was a hot mess cooked with rocket fuel! You felt so bad for the guy but you also wondered what he was thinking in approving this for airplay!

From what I remember, he hated the video from the start, and wanted to re-shoot it with a different concept, and his record company agreed. Unbeknownst to Squire, his record company immediately went behind his back and released it to MTV and ended up killing his career.

Just imagine how many people watched that video during production, editing, and meetings before it was released and said: "Yeah! This is rockin'! This is gonna put Billy over the top!"
