Versus Series: Haazen vs The Grand Inquisitor

Hope you guys like this one! Since I started doing these I've wanted to come back to Haazen. He's one of the most interesting characters and you genuinely feel for him throughout the comics. With that said season 3 finale is next

I thought for sure Haazen had it in the bag, but without the gauntlet yeah he ain't that great. I would say Haazens connection to the force is not necessarily weak though, the description of "awkward" is meant to parallel Zayne Carick who was quite powerful at times, just inconsistent and clumsy in his use. Both Zayne and Haazen were incompetent padawans overshadowed by their peers and with a awkward force connection as well as unrequired crushes, both were even routinely fooled by small-time criminals. The difference of course being that while both used deception Zayne had help from friends and learned how to work with his connection to the force, while Haazen just had pawns and tried to use artifacts and borrowed strength as shortcuts.

While I'm not the biggest fan of the Grand Inquisitor, as he's practically an inferior rehash of Jerec and Lucius Malfoy rip-off (would love to see Trilla or the Ninth Sister being used though, or heck Taron Malicos), this was an interesting matchup nonetheless.

Nice refreshing videos man, keep it up! Haazen should spite/stomp/potentially one shot due to legends scaling. Canon scaling is incomparable to legends scaling.

I always felt that the Grand Inquisitor was vastly underrated because of the way he died against Kanan and because he is compared negatively towards Inquisitor Jerec from Legends. While the first one I can understand (It was somewhat ridiculous his death), the comparison with Jerec always seemed unfair to me: the Grand Inquisitor is a hunter and analyst of Jedi who spent little time training himself in the Force while Jerec is a loremaster who rivals Darth frickin’ Vader in power.

Well that padawan had a boost in the force for no reason (he used plot armor) and his crappy double blade lightsaber. But yeah the GI lost to that Upper Padawan because of his plot armor.

In terms of which of the classes both characters fall under, would it be a fair to say that Haazen is something of a Dark Jedi Consular/wannabe Sith Sorcerer and The Grand Inquisitor being a straight up Jedi Sentinel/Sith Assassin?

I would say the Grand Inquisitor is a Dark Jedi Sentinel: he has the baseline dark abilities that characterizes a Dark Side Adept but lacks the deep immersion in the dark side that makes a Sith. He also does not display any traditional abilities or philosophy associated with the Sith. Yeah, Dark Jedi Sentinel seems accurate. PS: I would say Haazen is a Sith Sorcerer Wannabe. He has knowledge of esoteric Sith abilities and artefacts but lacks the raw power to use them to the fullest of their potentials.

John Zhou well I’d say he’s probably just simply on the level of asajj ventress, my reasoning for that is he was able to beat Jocasta nu almost instantaneously, most ppl will say she wasn’t much of a fighter but yet she was still extremely wise and had years of experience on him, so that is a notable feat he was also able to make a joke of fighting Kanan and Ezra, you have to see it this way, the other inquisitiors even together struggled in a duel with the two of them and the grand inquisitior could literally take them out in a matter of mins so he clearly is quite superior to them, and everyone loves to point out how kanan beat him but you have to realize that was like the first battle of obi wan and darth maul, clearly darth maul should’ve won that battle but it was bc obi wan lost something he feared then he became focused and was able to push darth maul to the breaking point. The same thing happened with the grand inquisitior and kanan like had he kept Ezra on the same level as them then kanan would’ve most likely been defeated but the inquisitior unknowingly lost his advantage when he knocked Ezra off. So in the end the grand inquisitior was a very powerful force wielder and duelist just as asajj ventress was
