Our First Time Watching: The Last of Us Season 1 Episode 4 *Please Hold My Hand*! As they drive to Wyoming, Joel tells Ellie about his past. When they stop for the night, Joel warns Ellie that anyone they meet cannot be trusted. The next day, Ellie sees an injured man begging for help. Joel tries to drive past him, springing a trap and crashing into a nearby building.
Joel tells Ellie to hide and shoots two men dead before a third, Bryan , gets the drop on him. Ellie uses the gun from her backpack to shoot Bryan, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down. Joel takes the gun and sends Ellie away before stabbing Bryan to deat.
Kathleen is informed of what happened; she concludes her enemies including Henry, who she believes gave up her brother to be executed-are responsible for contacting the killers and orders her followers to search the city for them. Joel teaches Ellie how to properly hold her gun.
Joel locates a high-rise building where he can get a good view of the surrounding area and find an exit route. Ellie makes Joel laugh for the first time with a joke from her book of puns. Waking up, they find Henry and his brother Sam holding them at gunpoint.

Great show, loving it. I have a small issue with Kathleen ...I'm not sure she's all that convincing as the badass leader of this group. She looks too nice. :D Her number 2, the guy with the beard was the voice of Tommy in the OG game I think.

@Martyntd5 Yep, that's Tommy. 😁 Troy Baker, who played Joel in the game, is also in the show. I think he's in this new group, with Kathleen as their leader. Btw, Kathleen is a new character for the show, but Henry & Sam were the 2 ppl that woke Joel & Elle up with guns in their faces. Those 2, Henry & Sam, were in the game. I love the little details that were changed, they may be small, but the story, the world, & the characters are very much improved from the changes. Those tiny changes do wonders for the world-building, & even more impressive for the character's development. Ok, I think I'm repeating myself, myself...lol. Love the show, & love you guys' reactions! ❤️ 🤘😁

Ellie’s gun has a full clip not just one bullet,she took the one out of the chamber so she could pull the trigger without shooting it.And the character you recognised is Tommy from the game.

Yeah I did not see any other bullets but it was not a full clip, she would not be able to push the spring loaded mag down if it was at capacity 🙈

@@johnyd1911 Gotta love gun nuts ...and they're rounds, not bullets right? We used to use stripper clips to load our Lee Enfields in the cadets.

@@robtrinreact2825 You could load one into the chamber, pop the mag and top it off with another round, the gun was stored with a round chambered apparently. It probably was a full mag after she put the chambered round back into it. We didnt see exactly, but I would think B&F kept it with a full mag.

This is honestly my favorite episode so far. So much of it was from the game and what they added was just as good, i like that the bandits in the city have dynamics as opposed to them just fighting you.

Yeah. Joel is so different with bad knees and hard of hearing in one ear. He also had died and come back to life about 50 times by this point in the game for me, and in the show he hasn’t died once!

this was a great episode. mainly because they didn't show or even reference the infected. i like the fact that a horror show has the balls to do a complete episode without the main storyline involved at all. and the bonding/relationship that is happening between Joel and Ellie is outstanding. and it is very entertaining to watch the show and then immediately watch it again with yall. hopefully before too long my finances will allow me to join the Patreon so i can watch the full reaction vids. but as usually guys, great job. (now bring on the season final of TWD already, i'm dyin' here) lol

well they kind of did? they didnt show any zombies but they showed the human threat aspect of the apocalypse, wich is bound to happen in an apocalypse like this. people try to raid you and take everything they can, and this is also a side of the apocalypse thus the main storyline.

I did find the 2 new characters um I forget their names. The chick from Two and a half men and the dude with the beard is actually the voice of Tommy in the game he's the other new character. The episode insiders are at the end of the episodes if you wanna know how and what they talk about and change from game to show they normally say it each episode

Kathleen's bearded right-hand is Tommy's voice actor in the game. As I understand it, Henry is responsible for Kathleen's brother death by betrayal. I guess he betrayed them because Fedra threatened Sam. I think Kathleen's brother was the leader of the resistance movement and she was probably the mom of the troops. That's the only reason I can imagine why the group follows her at all, so insecure and focused on revenge she seems. The bottom line is that she has absolutely understandable reasons. Just as good reasons as anyone else on the show and Joel wouldn't do anything else. Shows again that no group is good or bad. Joel's poor hearing has been shown throughout the episode. He always sleeps on the right side and Ellie often had to repeat when she called Joel. The only criticism so far is really the lack of brutality shown by Joel, because that is very important. Firstly, Joel was brutal and ruthless and secondly it's important for the second season. I think it is a mistake not to show this in all its brutality. The show still has to improve and I hope it will be later. It just has to. Btw... I still believe that Ellie pocketed the two grenades that fell at her feet when Tess had her heroic death. I think the bloater will get to eat them.

HBO told the show runners to significantly cut the violence scenes with the infected & concentrate more on the story telling side! I wouldn’t be surprised to see more episodes like this one though it was nicely done & enjoyable but at the same time cutting down what this game is all about is wrong in my opinion. Balance of the two works but cutting out the violence significantly is too much after all its not called Romeo & Juliet. Great reactions as always mates 🍻.

I had heard the idea that Joel would have slept the night but because he unintentionally scared Ellie he decided to keep watch instead to make her feel safe!❤️

I don't think the show is as much about the infected as it is the people. What they are doing in the show is showing human side, of even the bad guys, that people are doing what they have to to survive in this world. You don't show it but after Ellie shoots the guy and is around the corner crying as Joel kills him.. not a ton of action in this episode but a lot of setup for the next

I couldn't feel bad for the kid who Joel "had" to kill, he's someone who made a dumb choice choosing to ignore the consequences, the life he had should have been used doing something and making better decisions and that's not what happened or ever could happen because he died for something that HE did.
