All Laika Dog Breeds

Russian Laika dogs are very skilled hunters, but also great sled dogs or even herders. There are many different Laika breeds and in this video i will show you all of them.

The word laika can be literally translated as barker and it traditionally refer to all varieties of hunting dogs traditionally kept by the peoples of the northern Russia and adjacent areas. But Laikas are not only hunters, some of them are excellent sled dogs and some are even herding dogs.
Even though there are or were many many Laika breeds, only three of them are officially recognized by the FCI and those are the West Siberian Laika, East Siberian Laika and Russo European Laika. There is also 4th laika that is recognized by some kennel clubs around the world and it is the Karelo Finnish Laika.

Yes.... And makes sense why their called "Space dog" because the first dog that went to space was named Laika and she was a street 🐕🐶🐕🐶 Beautiful Dog breed thanks Rocadog 🐶🐕

I live in the netherlands and I had 2 west Siberië laiki. Vosya and biryook. Very kind dog. I miss them still. Now i have a mix laika from russian shelter in aykhal. Also very nice and friendly dog.

Northern Canada has hunting dogs identical to laika dogs we called them innu or Indian hunting dogs every tribe had them and they were all very similar I had one Pinu was her name, she had a very strong hunting instinct 🐺

I took a puppy from shelter.. now he's all grown up and he looks a lot like russian european laika and has many laika characteristics.

Laikas are not similar to northern spitz breeds, they are northern spitz breeds of Eurasia, breeds like Samoyed, Siberian Husky or Elkhund are also traditionally considered Laikas. Ones you mention are typical 4 subgenres of Russian hunting Laikas.
