This song was first done by Al Jolson, and this was one of several versions. Judy Garland also did that in 1961 for her live album “Judy at Carnegie Hall”, and so did Aretha Franklin where she had her very first Top 40 hit that same year, and then this one in 1974 for her album “Ma! He’s Making Eyes at Me” on the Stax label. She was so young when she nailed it.
