Baxter and Jonathan talk about the Jane's Addiction and Dave Grohl news from the weekend. Should we even be surprised that rock stars are doing rock star things?

Perry still being alive is an achievement. He looked like a crackhead when I was a little kid. He must have that Keith Richards engine.

Thumbs up? Cool? Alcoholic rage, tour canceled, there's nothing but sadness about Jane's Addiction now.

Faith No More is the band I think of when I hear about a group that hated each other but made epic music.

Dave was visibly scared, his right had was shaking and he honestly had no idea what this psychopath was going to do or how he was going to respond. That sucks. No work environment like this should be tolerated.

Heck, the Everly Brothers wouldn't speak to each other for like 20 years but still performed together.

Some bands should just let it go and realize that the window closed 20+ years ago.

I don't think a bunch of elderly drug addicts are going to "bring rock and roll back" lol. Somethings are better left in the times. Think about if they had cell phones like we do today in the 70s. How much of the dark stuff would be caught in 4k from 7 angles. Rockstars would be getting metooed left right and center. It wouldn't work today. That lifestyle doesn't mesh. Be happy you got to live in it and enjoy it when you did.

I think living vicariously is part of it - the image of people who don’t give a care and live pedal to the medal, and thei personal vision is a roaring flame. it’s cool to know that artists care, so those genuine artistic disputes turn heads. The vices though make me a little sad because they come at a cost. And the ego tripping and mind control stuff makes me think less of the artists - gobbling up all the credit, that stuff. But yeah I absolutely just did a deep dive on Jane’s Addiction!

Baxter's first CD might have been the Jackson 5, but my first 45 was "Dancing Machine".

I used to make a joke that Guns N Roses released a double-live album. The first CD was just an hour of crowd noise. Then the second CD played for 6 minutes and ejected itself from the player.

The music industry like all others, aren't immune to the changes happening across all markets.... people care where there money goes now and who is making what they're buying. Increasingly they'd rather support ethical sellers even if it means a slight dip in quality, so I think you'll see less and less artists finding success that have questionable morals. We're living in the age of social media now and supreme accountability so consumers can no longer claim ignorance, and so even who you like is now attached to your own morality... not wrongfully so either... it's a new age... decency is on trend.

Of course you can see why record companies gave up on trying to the herd cats that is rock and roll. I bet glorified perfume saleswomen pop stars are far less grief, smash less hotels, and snort less of Peru. And smell nicer.

I was at Lollapalooza when Pavement was getting booed at by a bunch of a-holes in the crowd, and they ended up getting in an argument with the crowd and stomping off. Sucked, because that was one of the bands I really wanted to see.

Theres a morbid desire to have felt spurned by the band for that reason to at least fill in the blank as to why there would be a rationale for that compulsory need. I've had an act no show a concert I was about to see before.

Does any of this change the music? If not, I really don't care. I was a teen in the 90s & I listen to music reaching back to The Beatles. If people want to be completely transparent about themselves because they're in the public eye, go for it! I think a lot of this stuff is personal to those involved. I don't need to hear any of it. It's gossip, I've never liked gossip.

6:37 if you're surprised you haven't been paying attention or read any books on NIRVANA. Also you can't listen to a song like "Arlandria" or even "Shame Shame" (both mention Zeppelin's "Rain Song" what a coincidence) and not know what Dave is up to. Pretty easy to read between the lines.

Old school attitude. Being pissed off and having a valid reason. It's hard to take these "kids" that act so angry seriously. Grrrrrrr. Unfortunately, they're mad because mom let the peas touch the meatloaf. Turn it up and shut yo mouf!!(unless you're the singer, then don't do that) 🤘

I hate it too. but I am old and don't go anywhere unless it has seating. even if it has seating I try to leave.

Dave Grohl is now denying it, and the Insta account(s) were taken down. Stars behaving badly just doesn't do it for me. The ones who impress me are when things go sideways and the band handles it cooly. I went to a Warrant concert with Firehouse as the opening act. CJ Snare (RIP) was having throat issues and could perform. Janey (RIP) came out on stage before the show and offered a full refund for anyone who wanted to leave because he knew not everyone was there to see Warrant. It's sad that both of them are gone now, long before their time.
@xray6062 күн бұрын
That's two separate things. He did get some girl knocked up, but some other person also claimed the same thing... and that's the one he's denying.

Also Dave's original infidelity was when he cheated on Kurt Cobain and NIRVANA by releasing his Late! Pocketwatch demo album (which is really good) in 1992. It was sort of a betrayal to put out a side project when you're in the biggest band in the world but it's ironic because they had talked about J. Mascis being the drummer and it's not like he didn't already have Dinosaur Jr. at the time. They actually had to stop pressing the Late! tapes because of demand. Or maybe Kurt had his lawyers do some work behind the scenes. We'll never know.
