Winning a record and driving (having mom drive) to get it, popping in a tape and recording it, putting it in the walkman and going with it...THAT'S HOW IT'S DONE!!! Love it. Will kids these days remember clicking on something? Maybe. Probably not. It's not nearly the same experience. I'm happy I grew up when I did (I'm 52 now).

I used to do this on the fly using an Audio Technica Soundburger portable turntable and a Sony recording walkman when I went to a freinds house if I couldn't get the album when it just came out or it sold out. How's that for old school piracy. I eventually bought the LP later just for the cover artwork and lyrics.

Great, great album. Every track is good. I loved this album so much I was disappointed at their follow up albums for not rocking as hard as Dawn Patrol.

I discovered Night Ranger thru Mtv (this is back when the "M" stood for "Music"). I had just turned it on and the video for "Don't Tell Me You Love Me" was just before the guitar solo started. For me to like a band, they have to have a great guitarist, and to me, nobody was better than Eddie Van Halen. I was so into VH that I didn't really even bother to listen to other bands that much. But watching Brad playing the solo in that train car, when he did his signature "Flutter", it blew me away. So now Brad Gillis was my 2nd favorite guitarist in the world. (I wasn't even into Randy Rhoads until the "Tribute" album came out) I've wanted an electric guitar since I was 6 but my folks weren't very supportive of that so I didn't get one until I was 16. All I knew was, my guitar was going to be red and have a tremolo bar because I wanted to do the stuff Brad Gillis was doing. I ended up with a dark red Ibanez Roadstar II (RS440) and I beat the hell out of that tremolo. lol An interesting fact about Brad is, he was the 3rd person to get a Floyd Rose tremolo system when they were being made by Floyd in his garage. Eddie Van Halen and Neal Schon were the first two players to get them. Another interesting note: After leaving Night Ranger, "Fitz" became Eddie's keyboard tech. I still have my Dawn Patrol and Midnight Madness records. All other NR releases were purchased on cassettes or CDs. And I can swear I had a cassette of Dawn Patrol that had blue laser beams. I had to replace the original cassette due to the player eating the tape and I'm certain that cassette had blue laser beams on it. I wish I still had it but the same thing happened and I had to buy another replacement. But the new cassette had the red beams like the album.
