I've been using a rock climbing harness while bow hunting for the last 6 years. I like how lightweight they are when walking into my stand. This one stays tight and doesn't ride down like some saddles tend to. It's very comfortable, and I feel much more confident leaning away from the tree to take a shot at a deer when using it. #bowhunting #mobilestand #traditionalarchery When you click on links to various merchants on this site and make a purchase, this can result in this site earning a commission.

Here as well. Commercial saddles are over priced junk. You can make your own or go with alpine. I chose alpine as it is simply the best for my style of saddle hunting. Which, since I dont use a saddle, I should rename it..ELEVATED PREDATOR MODE.. Hahaha

Thanks for the video. I’ve been wanting to get in to saddle hunting for a few years but did not want to spend the money for a setup when I had old rock climbing kit. Your video helped me a lot!

I came across your channel about a year ago and really enjoy your content!!! I believe we are kindred spirits with the way we like our equipment and our mod ideas. I’m thinking about transitioning from compound to traditional this year. After 25yrs of contemplating I’ve gotten into the saddle game. However I still am a little bit uncomfortable shooting out of it so I run a hybrid system a lot with an old school WindWalker. When I use it with my saddle I find it to be a little redundant and takes minimalistic goal out of things and I find myself wanting to do what you’ve done here. Keep the saddle for the saddle setup and the rock climbing harness for the stand. Thanks for another good video!!!

I'm moving from a traditional harness to the TX5 minimalist this coming season. Great explanation!

I've been using the same rock climbing harness for years with a Lok-on Limit stand with sticks or drill and bolts and really like it. I like the way your lineman's belt works.

Do you have a link for the d loops you use for your lineman’s belt?

"O" for open (aka D for dead), gotta double back that buckle so it looks like a "C" for closed.

The 5/16 inch M8 size works great and has like an 880lb load limit.

How are you attaching the linesman loops onto the harness? Seems like any available climbing harness in my area has no D loops.

I use delta links, they're all over Amazon. They work great

@@hooversoutdoorsso do you just clip them on the waistband? How do they not slide around on ya?
@hooversoutdoors
@hooversoutdoors Жыл бұрын
@ealfea they can only go forward to your hips, see the thumbnail pic the nylon that leads down to the leg straps stops them from sliding forward. Your weight leaning from the tree keeps them from moving back.

@ealfea don't use a regular carabiner, most are too wide and will allow it to slide more because more material fits through. Those deltas are barely wide enough on one side to fit the belt and triangle shaped, so they stay pretty tight even with no load on. The triangle shape gives you room to clip in to.

Now all you need is 40-60 ft of rope, 2 carabiners, mad rock belay, hand ascender and you can limit noise to ascend tree, wont need sticks, only platform, rope doubles as gear ropes, using a canopy(apline) knot you use the rope for the fifth hitch allowing a simple pull of rope when back on ground. Entire kit(with saddle stand) is about 10 lbs. I use a recurve so there isnt any fatigue whatsoever. Important fpr me as I broke my back in a Blackhawk crash in 07. The fact the heaviest single item in my pack is a 1 qt canteen. I'm thinking about making a video, as I just seen dudes using sticks and lineman rope(not needed) and lock ons. My method was designed and tailored to me due to my disability. Added benefits are ease of deployment in dark conditions without use of any light, stealth, ease of exfil of tree while maintaining 100% noise discipline, equipment fits in a small ruck and single rope technique allows easy retrieval of items in dark.

Your supposed to double loop your belt buckle dude. Read the instructions. That belt is going to slip off of you. Always check your gear your harness. It'll hurt when you fall.

Dude you would slide straight down the tree if your stand fell, you are not tied to the tree, a tether tied with a hitch is totally safe, numerous hitches that are easy to tie
