Echoes was the first track I heard from Pink Floyd but I didn’t know it was them. In 1971, I would leave the radio on all night. I was in the Air Force stationed at Nellis AFB outside of Las Vegas so I was 19 and I am dreaming about trucks climbing the Grapevine in California which was weird because I had never driven on it. I woke up for a second and realized these strange sounds were on the radio. So I went back to sleep and a few months later a friend asked me if I would like to listen to new music on headphones without saying anything until it was over? I agreed so I am really enjoying the song and about halfway through I heard that strange whirring sound and suddenly I started yelling The Trucks The Trucks! and he’s looking at me in astonishment so he stops the record and I explain about that dream. We both had a good lol over it. Years later I saw Live at Pompeii 2 nights in a row and finally learned how they made that sound using steel slides and the Binson Echorecs. There is no synthesizer on Meddle. That’s how I became a huge Pink Floyd fan. I also got to meet them in 1975, but that’s a story for another time. 1:Echoes 2:Dogs 3:Shine On You Crazy Diamond

So much knowledge on one screen,i'm in awe chaps (and chapesses) Being a Londoner,i've seen PF 7 times and my mind was blown each time,but God,i'd trade them all for a front row stone bench at pompeii for THAT gig. The quality on those sessions,both visually and sonically,are on a level not seen by any other band. But no crowd to feed and feed off was replaced by the ghostly,ethereal feel of the whole experience. Great show,could you do Led Zeppelin next,or the Who,or Sabbath or Queen or Purple or the Stones or the Beatles or Steely Dan or.....damn,so many.

Division Bell and Pulse were big albums for me at a key time and they opened my mind to go into the greatness of all Floyd. I honestly hadn't appreciated them enough before, as a metalhead.

Such an awesome podcast! My all time favorite band! As a “ millennial” people are always shocked when I tell them Pink Floyd is my favorite band. I remember being 6 or 7 listening to WPDH in my dads truck and Brain damage came on. I was mesmerized by the song. I turned to my dad and was like what band is that. Obviously his response was Pink Floyd. Ever since that day they have been my favorite band. My other two favorite songs have to be See Emily Play and Welcome to the Machine. I haven’t seen any of the original members live yet however my first concert my dad brought me to was the Machine at the Paramount theater in Middletown. Such an awesome experience

Pink Floyd Pompeji is great. I have seen Nick Mason's Saucerful of secrets in another Roman Theatre (Augusta Raurica in Switzerland). The atmosphere there is beyond compare

The Final Cut doesn't get enough respect. To me it's a haunting and introspective album. It is very moody and the lyrics are deep. For those who don't pay attention to lyrics it will go above their head, but it really is an overlooked album. It reminds me of Queensryche's Promised Land. The title song, The Final Cut is almost as good as Comfortably Numb, and songs like Your Possible Pasts and The Hero's Return are so heartfelt while being somewhat creepy.

The Final Cut is only bettered by the Wall and DSOM, despite what people will tell u bout the weaker efforts from barrett and gilmour

To me, The Final Cut album could be leftover songs from The Wall. It could have been a triple album with a long section about his dad in the war.
