Same here I daily carry my BBR but I installed a dove tail lock so I dont have to worry about pushing in the safety dove tail plus I purchased the pinky extension for the 10 rd mags so my huge hands grip it better. Also bought 3 p14 mags (higher capacity)with sleaves and runs flawlessly with 45acp +p Ammunition. rounds.

I repeat this way too much on Graham’s channel......sorry Graham......but if you’re a fan of 10mm, and would like 16+1 rounds of it, then check out the R.I Ultra FS HC. It’s got a lot of bells & whistles already out of the box, and the price has dropped from when I bought my own. I have a quick range video on my “channel,” and from 15+ yds the fiber optic front sight was wicked visible, and a solid ass (frame and slide) gun that just eats up recoil......even from the steroid juiced Underwood Ammo that I tried out! It’s also a series 70, which I prefer over the series 80. Give her a look if you have a minute. I am trying to find the time to do a tabletop on it, but my daughter says “no” LOL

I have a ParaOrd Warthog. I have medium sized hands and I love my Warthog. The recoil is manageable in 185 & 230 grain. I too experienced jams. At one point it was every two rounds before jamming, very frustrating. A friend told me to put some engine oil in the throat, so I went one better and put a dollop of grease on the throat. I went through the next ten rounds with no problem all rounds in the bulls eye at 20 feet. Then I fast fired 10+1 with no problems. In the Corps I had a 1911 but this lil Warthog is the best. Great vid.

I appreciate Rock Island's effort to bring new products to the market. Yes, I know this a redux of the Para Warthog. To me, the Glock 30s and the Smith and Wesson .45 Shield are the best, concealed carry .45's around. I hope that someone will do a size comparison between those excellent handguns, and this newcomer. I don't see any advantage to this gun over those, unless it is considerably more concealable. As always, thank you for your presentation.

Was it a true failure to feed, or was the slide stop engaging prematurely? It is a common enough issue in M1911 pattern pistols. The slide stop can be dimpled so that the plunger can add a little more friction.

The main problem with this 3.10 is the guide-rod recoil spring design! The guide rod itself will routinely loosen from it's retaining plate and you will lose it, pronto! Blue Loctite does not fix it! The entire guide-rod recoil spring needs a far better design!!! Initial FTF's were common, but, as the round count went up the failures went down.... polishing the feed-ramp did help a lot, I also installed a slightly stronger main recoil spring... I'm satisfied, but, still not comfortable enough with it to carry this weapon for protection.

Great little gun... all steel, but some flaws. The hammer needs to be a spur, and then the tang could move up a good 3/8" giving more purchase of the hand web on the grip safety. Also this would give more length to grasp of the grip. Second the slide vertical height needs reduction, and/or either like the Cosine COS11 tapered in to protect the fingers, or the with of the frame increased or slide made thinner. This would allow my favorite combat grip. That is to place the index finger along the frame of the gun just below the slide pointing parallel to the barrel, and the trigger to be operated by the middle finger. This moves the hand up on the gun, but more important it improves point-ability. At 7 yards I can snap shoot an orange size target without aiming reliably this way. It also improves gun retention and control in recoil giving faster follow-on shots.

Back in the days the premise was that if your 1911 could feed, cycle, and shoot semi-wadcutter then your piece would be considered as being able to feed just about anything, but with the constant issues with engaging the grip safety and not being able to fire, this may have to be a safe queen and one not to be trusted for self defense. I have this EXACT handgun and it used to jam almost every round. It became a serious problem and nobody I spoke to knew what to do. Rock Island Armory claims that there is a 500 round break-in period. But that does NOT mean "MALFUNCTION NON-STOP UNTIL THEN." All the break-in period is for is to make the tolerances ever so slightly looser to make the slide cycle easier. All other 1911s have the same break-in period but most can fire multiple entire magazines out of the box with absolutely no malfunctions. HERE'S THE SOLUTION: EVOLUTION GUN WORKS is a company that builds mid-priced but high quality Guide Rod Assemblies for Officer, Commander, and Government 1911s. Although, if you have a 1911 pistol and your Guide Rod Assembly is a fucked up, shitty design, chances are it's an Officer Frame. TBH, I'm surprised the dozen people I've spoken to in the past about my handgun repeatedly jamming just didn't know how to fix it. They kept saying it's the extractor. But they were wrong. I don't know why but for some reason, a lot of Officer 1911s are built with a horribly unreliable Guide Rod Assembly and let me tell you - EVOLUTION GUN WORKS is a saving grace for these guns and they honestly need more recognition.

Seems like a nice looking handgun , but you have to remember it's a compact design , you have to ,, squeeze into the grip ,, but make sure you can comfortably engage the lemon squeezer grip safety , and start off with fmj ball ammo first , then use Lucas synthetic gun oil and maybe new magazine that would possibly work better ?? It's a compact gun and you have to understand it's not gonna fall into your hand like a full size 1911 will ! I think it's pretty neat and yes it's gonna have a hefty recoil, but that should is expected from the beginning ! Oil it work it and get very familiar with it , make sure it's unloaded and put it in your hand and get use to it and how it feels , if you are gonna carry this every day , you better feel very comfortable with it always !!

You may have misunderstood our point. The gun was slipping in hand in a rotational manner while firing. Resisting that motion is a function of grip (traction) on the front strap and backstrap. That is where this pistol could use some help. The sides of the gun have very little impact on grip unless you shoot in an extreme iso-based position.

You think that digs into your palm. I've got a Bond Arms derringer in .45 acp. Kicks like a mule and actually hurts with factory ammo. I am a reloader so I loaded a bunch of 230 grain fmj's way down and that greatly improved my ability to shoot it. Not especially my ability to hit anything with it at any distance though. It's for sure a get the hell off of me gun. If that pistol had something like a fourteen round extended magazine in it so you could actually hold on to it I think it would be a heck of a gun and a lot more pleasant to shoot to boot.

Almost didn't get because of this review. After 200rnds, my take on is... 38 snubby has more recoil...... Super fat grips and being ported really tames recoil. First mag i had one failure to feed, mag didn't push it up completely (hasnt happened since) Had 2 stovepipes while shooting some Stealth ammo designed for suppressor use. 3 stovepipes while doing mag dumps about 7 rounds into it, but I also noticed that about 7 rounds i was adjusting my grip . Shooting black targets I hit a bit low , white target front sight is more visible and point of aim is correct, happy with accuracy. Front sight is rather small and everything is black . Ill be trying a white paint pen for better visibility. .45 out of a 3" barrel is a "get the f*** off me" gun . but pleasantly surprised with accuracy. Disassembly is easy if using a trim nail or small punch s fulcrum while removing spring. Fit and finish are nice, fun ,good looking little gun *** paint pen didn't work, second shot and it's sooted over. Lol Also learned shooting this gun only ... No problems Going between several different guns im having stovepipe issues . maybe muscle memory and limp wristing ????

@@mikes1172 For carry/primary weapon ... No For fun/cool gun .....YES!!!! I did not know that on some compact 1911's the recoil spring wears out quickly , mine it goes all at once. May or may not be a big deal to some . 2nd.. mag release isn't protected in a leather holster. So I don't carry it like I wanted to. But if you you don't mind ordering a few extra springs and can afford the $$ for a cool gun, its badass .

@@mamjack6134 Thank you for sharing. I'm full on cool guns right now, literally sitting here looking to sell stuff for a .45 easier to carry than all of the other .45s I have. Maybe, its time to think about letting go of the carry .45 idea and move into a .40 or back to a 9mm. Open carry, belt carry would make life way easier.

@@filemonyumul8168 this is why I use a revolver grip for all handguns. Tuck my thumb. Then my grip is the same for range trips with my revolver.

Very interesting :) Thank you for the video. If I were to carry a small 1911 like that, I think I would be inclined to pin the grip safety in the closed position somehow, and rely solely on the thumb safety. Even with a lot of training using that particular gun, you might not squeeze/hold it correctly in a stressful, self-defense scenario. Other than that, it seems like a fun little gun, especially if you wear shooting gloves to protect your hands ;)
