I own this firearm. I've put 300 rounds through it so far and have nothing bad to say about it. Cleaning is a breeze and I carry it every day along with 3 extra mags. Yes, I did say 3. My only "complaint" is that tenth round is a bit hard to seat without a mag loader. The porting in the barrel and slide does indeed assist with recoil and makes this pocket sized 1911 manageable. I recommend it to any full sized 1911 owner as a great carry gun.

This is obviously a remake of the Para Ordinance Warthog, who made several models of the double-stack. I wanted to buy one 15 years ago, but with the $800 price tag, I had to be convinced of its build quality and reliability. After handling it at many different stores, not a single retailer had good things to say about it. Hopefully, RI has fixed all of the Para difficulties. BTW, with the short-barrel low velocities, hollow points are not likely to expand.

Exactly, warthog copy that holds 10instead of 12 or 14?,might be Great for somebody, but the lower velocity over the 5inch barrel, the sawed off chunky grip that prints, the 40 ounce loaded weight?and your only gaining 2 rounds ? Sig 365, over a lb. Lighter, holds, more,cheaper ammo,more reliable and easier to conceal.😂

The recoil spring doesn't need to be changed every 500 rounds, it simply should be changed after the first 500 rounds. I don't entirely know why, but I assume it's because they put a different spring in the gun initially for break-in purposes. Also a note: the gun was initially supposed to have a fiber optic front sight, but the hot gas coming out of the ports were melting the sight.

I don't actually own any guns, but if it cycles fine, don't touch that shit!!! Change to another spring, and it won't cycle/feed properly. Put the original back in and it STILL won't cycle and you'll go bananas trying to fix it for the next 6 months! Finally you sell it cheap out of sheer frustration, the guy that buys it loves it because it works perfectly for HIM, and the new gun you bought to replace it with won't cycle worth a fuk either :) Note that buying the other gun back from the other guy doesn't work. Once you buy it back, it's not going to cycle for you--just him. It's the gun's way of letting you know that it's pissed at you for fcuking around with the recoil spring, and now you're the proud owner of TWO guns that won't cycle

I threw a skog band on the grip safety, painted the front sight, and carry a spare 20 rd mag with it. Super awesome setup.

Not all of them have panned out or looked good, but I do believe Rock Island is onto something here. I was amazed at the positive reviews and comments on the BBR 3.10 .45 that I saw! I own several 1911's...5", 4.25", and this 3.1". I've had the BBR 3.10 to the range and shot approximately 100 rounds FMJ through it, as I never fire hollow-points until at minimum of 100 FMJ rounds go down the new 1911 pipe. I had no stovepipes or failure to feeds in the first 100. Amazingly, the little BBR 3.10 was very easily controlled and no brisker than a standard 5" barrel due to the weight of the weapon with a full double stack clip. And, it shot a 4" maximum group at 7 yards, most of which were within 3". All in all I was shocked at how well it performed in every way. I actually feel as confident as I would with my Glock 30. I'll follow up with my further impressions after another couple hundred rounds a various types of ammo, but so far, I'd give this firearm a 9.5 out of 10. A little heavy for normal concealed carry, but if you weigh that against the firepower and knock down ability of .45 ammo, it would seem to be a very good everyday carry.

That's awesome and u don't have to pay for colt defender 90 markups and still get a quality gun ... For me to fire 500 rounds will take years... I'm deadly accurate even with years in-between range visits, u either know how to aim or always need practice ... Maybe a mag grip extension for the pinkie

What are your thoughts on this a p938?
@TheJimminiShow2 жыл бұрын
I like the 938. It's a 9mm so different caliber, thus not a real competitor, but definitely worth looking at if you're looking for a micro 9 sized 1911
@Coolguy23882 жыл бұрын
@@TheJimminiShow awesome. yeah for sure on different calibers. I know RIA has one similar to the one you reviewed but chambered in 9mm just haven't found a dealer nearby that carries either on hand. Glad to hear your positive experiences with the 938, I am definitely looking to carry between these two.

Getting the magazines to reliably feed through a yoke style trigger is kinda difficult. STI is getting better at it.

@@TheJimminiShow never had feed problems with my 14-45, but I attribute that to the ramped barrel.

Cool offering, but I have to wonder what the muzzle velocity is on a barrel with ports an inch from the bolt face. Will the projectiles expand reliably? The .45 is still subsonic out of a 5” unported barrel, I’m a bit skeptical of the performance. I’m not a fan of a shorter pistol in a heavy caliber, all it does is spray unburnt powder and make fireballs. There’s a reason compact guns use smaller calibers, the recoil is less and the performance is the same, but without wasting powder and mag space. In 9mm, this would be a 13 rd mag, would still be supersonic at 7 yards, and your splits would be closer together with more rounds on target.

I have a full size Tisas 1911A1 service special 45acp and I've ran about 200 rounds through it and right out of the box without a break in period ran hollow point ammo and fmj ammo with no problems whatsoever and still runs. 100% accurate sights are dead on. Very happy with this purchase. It reliable and runs every time with all the ammo that I've put through it. Also runs good not only with the 2 mags it came with but other brands as well. I like Rock Island but I also love my Tisas it's very dependable.

I carry the BBR 3.10 during the summer. It's actually an awesome little gun. A LOT of snap to it, because it's the size of a G26, but chambered in .45, and for my winter EDC, a RIA M1911 A1 FS Tac, We the people holster, deep FBI cant at 430. Both have never failed me, the crappiest part of both is searching for the ammo. But I've gotten pretty known around my local Turner's, so I get the call whenever the loads arrive.
@richkidd126310 ай бұрын
If you don’t mind the grip ; to each his own, my concern is the 3” ported barrel. I’m curious what kind of velocity you’d get from it. From a defensive pistol standpoint that would be my concern

Para fixed the recoil spring issue with a dual captive spring, maybe one from a warthog or colt double agent would work. Only thing I don't like about them is the proprietary sights RIA fixed that.
@TheJimminiShow4 жыл бұрын
This one has two springs as well. One is captive and non replaceable, the bigger one is the one that should be changed every 500 rounds. I would assume that the warthog spring should work since the Rock island is basically a copy of the paral warthog
@TheJimminiShow4 жыл бұрын
But let's face it most people that buy this gun won't put a thousand rounds through it so the two springs it comes with should be plenty.
@freak60422 жыл бұрын
I put my hands on one of these a couple weeks ago, and first impressions are positive. I haven't fired one but I think could make a good option as a backup carry or option for a woman to carry in a purse. Rock Island makes a nice weapon that is very affordable.

The comp ports would black the front sight even if it was LED,. There's gonna be fire!
@tomservo53476 ай бұрын
This thing is a howitzer with a double stacked magazine that's pretty hefty. Don't let this give the wrong impression-it's weight makes it shoot the same with a full or nearly empty magazine and I was impressed with my accuracy the first time shooting mine. The ported barrel keeps you on target, recoil is tamed with it's heavy steel make, plus it's just plain cool seeing flames leap out of the ports in lower light. I chuckle every time I disassemble for cleaning and see the ridiculously short barrel in which the bore size is nearly a quarter of the barrel length.
