Very much enjoyed the video. I bought the most basic Rock Island model... the “M1911 A1-FS” about a week ago because I wanted one more like the ones I used in the navy 40 to 50 years ago. I’ve had a Ruger SR1911 for 4 or 5 years now. It has all those extra “bells & whistles” you speak of and it is a great piece, one of my most accurate “iron sight” guns. I did a test with the RIA vs the Ruger alternating 1 mag for the “Rock” and 1 for the SR until I’d put 50 230gr round noses through each. I was surprised that they were pretty much equal but I’d give a slight edge to the RIA... of course my results were only as accurate as my limited shooting ability allows... not at all scientific. I had been having a bit of buyer’s remorse for having bought a “cheap clone” when I’d been looking for a Colt Series 80 aka 1991 but after my little test I feel much better about my purchase. Thanks again for the great video! :)

I also have the Rock Island 1911...the same exact model featured in this video of yours, and right from the get-go, had multiple FTF/FTE with EVERY magazines....mag after mag. Disassembled it and only to find out that the recoil spring is a lot shorter than what a full size 5" barrel 1911 should be. So I bought an aftermarket Wilson Combat 18# spring (or maybe 20#? I can't remember), which is 1-1/2" or so longer compared to the spring it came with...needless to say, haven't had a problem ever since.

I have one of these, and I absolutely love it. I find myself carrying it more and more when I leave the house. Normally I stick with striker fired pistols for my cc's, but I love this thing so damn much that I don't want to leave the house without it.

I love mine! Only had 1 failure during breaking in the firearm and it was the original mag. No issues with Wilson combat mags ! Love your videos!! Always see you if you demo a gun that I’m interested buying 🙏🇺🇸

I have this same 1911 in 10mm and it is my favorite handgun by far outta all of the ones I own. It is so comfortable and just fits my hand perfectly, is very accurate and fun to shoot.

I live in nyc and I gotta tell you that I am a huge fan !! I am just praying the gun legislations work out so we can carry our guns like good law abiding citizens! God bless you and thank you for all the videos , it’s wonderful to watch you in your shooting gallery , FYI my fave will always be the video you did on the glock 26 gen 4 , that’s awesome !! .
@carminemurphy48362 жыл бұрын
Eddie Roman: NYPD and their pistol license division will have to change radically, before they issue regular people permits to carry handguns. There was a time when Glocks were not allowed on a regular target or carry permit, then word got out that Police Commissioner Benjamin Ward, a Civilian employee, was carrying a Glock (19?) and then The Pistol License Division back pedaled, then allowed regular permit holders to get Glocks too.

Picked up my Armscor 1911 a few years back. Very similar model, but also has a short rail and came with walnut wood grips branded as a Taylor's Tactical. Swapped out the grips for a nice black and red G10 and got rid of the junk KCI mags it came with for some Wilson Combat ones and it runs like an absolute dream. Got it on clearance from PSA for less than $500. Unbelievable value.

i have several... all Colts, but the price of the .45ACP's gives me the blues. i always though a 9mm 1911 might be fun. i don't know. thumbed up. thx! i love looking at all of the guns! so, thanks!

No doubt. 9mm 1911 is my next purchase. I need a 9mm I actually want to shoot a lot cause 45 and 357 is killing my wallet.

I purchased one on these in 9 mm, it is the best handgun I have ever shot out of the box after a quick cleaning. Smooth as butter and accurate.

It’s not an addiction so much as a disease. It’s also highly contagious. I’ve given the disease to several friends that weren’t shooters. One of them has more guns than I do now. Augh hell, it’s just plain fun.

Just bought this in 10mm, the trigger is excellent, the grips are comfortable and very secure, no rattles, sights are clear and easy to acquire, it is rock solid. If I had to be picky about anything it may be the magazine is difficult to load fully, not impossible tho, and that should break in. Mine is a bull barrel so no bushing, and has the full length guide rod like the one in the video, which may be a turn off for some, but it is no big deal really. Mine disassembles and reassembles easily.

Hickock is right! I recently got one of these RIAs and its awesome . I got a 4.25" barrel .22TCM and it shoots 9mm just swap the barrel. Its not very heavy and holds 17 +1 rounds! I had a few polymer 9 mm guns but nothing feels as right in your hand as a 1911 , Its hard to explain but it feels better and points better to me. Being 3/4" shorter it weighs less and can easily be your EDC. I NEVER feel out ammoed by a Glock style polymer gun since I have 18 rounds in it. Now that the stainless/alum cased ARX ammo is out my ammo weight just dropped in half too!

Great presentation. I have an Utlra FS RIA 1911 A2 in a 16rd 10MM and really handles well shooting full loads. Over 2000 rounds and only had one feed problem with Hornaby JHP. All others especially the Sigs are great. The only negative on the A2, the manual safety, flares out a little too much on both sides for my comfort.

That's the sexiest 1911 I've ever seen! (At least so far) Edit: SORRY for not being a 1911 expert, but it really is. I haven't seen EVERY model and variant obviously. -_-

This is a bone stock G.I. 1911. There is absolutely nothing special about it except the G10 grip panels. This is literally, a 1911 design, from 1911, without any of the modernization found on most 1911s.

Great vid. 1911 is my pistol of choice if my life depended on it. Additionally, it is one of our country's most recognized pieces when we are talking guns. It is comparable to Baseball. They were both invented an perfected in America and they are both truly American. I am very happy that you bring them out every once in a while. My brothers and I really appreciate it. Thank you. Keep up the great work.

I have the 10mm. Looks just like the one in the video, except it has a bull barrel. More reliable and just as accurate as my Kimber. Under $600 it's a hell of a value. I tend to take it on more adventures then the Kimber because it's cheap and I don't care if it gets a scratch or 3. Made me a believer in 10mm

I have a couple of 1911s, two of which are Rock Islands. The 45 is a double stack version of the one shown here and the other is the 22TCM/9mm in a double stack. I like them both and have had no problems with either one. Don't expect to be able to just drop in any Wilson Combat parts like the thumb safety without the aid of a good gunsmith, because they seem to take more fitting than with most 1911s. Still well worth the money and quite accurate.
