So many great songs and guitar on Rock n Roll Animal and Lou Reed Live. My faves are Intro, Rock n Roll, Heroin, Vicious, Satellite..: all given a classic metal sheen by these two geniuses. Thanks guys.

Darn. I used to say, "I wish I'd put in some 8 hour days when I was young", and now I have to revise it to "10 hour days". I'm not sure if I've ever actually done 4 hours in a day (not counting long band practices), but maybe a few times. That said, dear reader of KZbin comments, I have given both myself and others (including some much, much more accomplished players) goosebumps a few times. (One learns to tell obligatory compliments from expressions of genuine delight and astonishment.)

Two of THE best rock guitarists EVER! I was so looking foward to the movie about them... Kinda bummed it didn't come to pass. Instead we have Joan Jett and The Runaways who could barely play their instruments given a full blown movie. Jeez, they weren't even the first all female band that wrote/played themselves! The business is a joke. Thanks for these clips though. Met Dick in NYC in the late 80's when he was gigging @ Kenny's Castaways, great guy.

These guys are great but no need to bash Joan and the Runaways. Joan was and is a fantastic rhythm player and are you saying Lita can’t play?! Give me a break dude.

@@elvistheripper Art is subjective and music is art, so if Joan & Lita rank high in your book, Enjoy. I saw Lita at a Guitar Legends show many years ago. She was dating Tony Iommi at the time. He was on the bill and she came out unannounced and sat in with him. She was good for what she does. I guess I wish this movie got made instead of The Runaways, who incidentally aren't truly the first all female group who played their own instruments and wrote their own songs. That would be "She Trinity" from England, then of course "Fanny", "Birtha". But I digress.

@@GalaxyRover1020 who cares if they were the first to do that? So if they aren’t the first they don’t deserve a film? I don’t love them because they are a great female rock band, I love them because they are a great fuckin rock band, period. They played the hell out of their instruments. And yes, they wrote several of their own songs. You are wrong about that. Rock n roll isnt about virtuosity anyway. It’s great if you are proficient but completely unnecessary to play rock n roll. In fact, it often gets in the way.

@@elvistheripper My objective in pointing out there are other ( far superior imo) all female bands that predated The Runaways was that they truly didn't warrant the label "first". They really weren't. If you're one to appreciate and value facts in musical history. As I said if you like them, enjoy :D I don't even mind them actually, I have their debut alum. I remember very well when they came out, still have my old Circus mags. with them featured. And yes they wrote many original tunes. I never said they didn't. I said there were others who are really not getting their due as true pioneers. And btw I love all kinds of music, this is coming from a guy who must own at least 100 Johnny Thunders cds, & vinyl. In a final note, I think Dick Wagner & Steve Hunter ( see there was a point) IMO are much more deserving of a proper film retrospective. They're musician's musicians. Is there anybody who hasn't heard of Joan Jett & Lita Ford? Bored now. You can carry on if you like :D

@@GalaxyRover1020 who said they were the first? I son’t recall anyone really arguing that. Joan’s hero was Suzin Quattro who came from an all girl garage band (Pleasure Seekers). The idea that they weren’t the first is actually baked into their story. There is simply no need for the comparison or competition for the right to have their careers deemed worthy of documentation. I don’t know why there is in your mind. Probably the Runaways story was a bit more dramatic and interesting for the average punter than Wagner and Hunter (whose stories are probably most interesting to either musos or 70s rock aficionados). Both camps deserve documentation. No need to bash The Runaways to make the point that this duo deserves more respect. That is my point.
