I understand why everybody loves Tatjana. Belive me, I do too. She is a force of nature on stage with a brilliant vocal capability... But can we please give some respect and love to the guys too? They are some of the best at their individual crafts in the business. This breakdown is one of the sickest I know and they are all perfect. Jinjer is near musical perfection top to bottom.

The Wall of Death is a common enough event at concerts that many of the concert-goers know to expect it at some point. The singer divides the audience into two halves; and then the band and the audience go completely nuts at the same time. Circle pits are less organised : they actually happen spontaneously just as a result of the random motion of the audience. For more Jinjer, pretty nearly anything is good, but there are a few that particularly stand out : Judgement and Punishment (single-take vocal recording, in which the camera stays focused on Tati the whole time); Sit Stay Roll Over; Perennial (live at Wacken 2019. It's the last song of their set and demonstrates Tati's vocal stamina); and Home Back (just a great song with a very cool video. This was released in 2020, and I don't think they've yet had the opportunity to perform it live).

Tatiana loves all kinds of music and likes to bring all kinds of music into her singing and performances. The three long-time members of the band grew up in eastern Ukraine's Donetsk region, but the war there in 2014 after the Russian occupation of Crimea would have made it impossible to continue touring so they moved to western Ukraine and currently live in Kiev. Last year when lockdowns cancelled all their tours she spent the 6 months of her US visa in southern California with her beau Alex Lopez, drummer of Suicide Silence, and he's now in Ukraine hanging out with them as they record their new album. Vlad is from western Ukraine and joined in 2016 or 2017. In principle, the guys compose the music and send Tati demos, then she finds inspiration for lyrics and weaves her vocal performance into the music. They've said, or at least implied that there isn't any back-and-forth iteration in their composition. Eugene says they don't know what Tati is going to sing until she shows up to record her vocals, Tati says "they don't even ask me" about the music. Though Roman said Tati had been constantly asking for more reggae so when he came up with a riff that had a reggae vibe he went with it and that was the beginning of Judgement & Punishment - the other song with a bit of reggae is Who Is Gonna Be The One with the official live being the one to do. For the most incredible switching between growls and cleans, check out Sit Stay Roll Over live in Melbourne - the studio version has different growling and clean lines cut together in a very aggressive and chaotic combination, so seeing her replicate that live is a treat, and she injects a section with low growls in the Melbourne performance (she does her growls differently in every show to avoid boredom - in 2019 they did 152 shows). To hear more melodic stuff, Bad Water is all cleans and very bluesy (I think that's what it is, anyway). I Speak Astronomy is one of her few love songs and is mostly cleans, she did featured vocals on Suicide Silence's cover of AIC's Man In The Box which is great. Not really a reaction request but I doubt anyone would complain if you did, here is Tati with a side-project band doing 22 minutes of Latin-infused Nirvana covers kzbin.info/www/bejne/hInMYZqem5iYqbc

I'm a new Jinjer fan. What I've heard is that when Tatiana decided she likes the "growl" she went to the edge of town so as not to disturb her family, and screamed at cars passing by until she figured it out. I have also heard that the band writes the music and then Tatiana sings lyrics to the music. Things will mesh around that combination until the final song takes shape so, it is an unconventional collaboration. According to Tatiana, she has not studied much music other than appreciation. I think the band is fully Ukrainian but the band fled before the unrest. There are great interviews with the Tatiana and the band on KZbin but I don't have links right now, however, a search for Jinjer interview should pull up a bunch. If you like more lyrical music I would suggest checking out Home Free. Three songs that are good starters are Ring of Fire (featuring Avi), Folsom Prison Blues, and Man of Constant Sorrow. I would suggest picking one to watch and decide if you want to react to the others from that. It might not be your type of music exactly but I believe you will be fully impressed.

Great reaction Anastasia. The guys, Eugene (bass), Roman (guitar), and Vlad (drums) compose the music, they then hand it to Tatiana, she comes up with the lyrics, writes them in Russian, and then translates them into English. Jinjer is entirely from Ukraine, Tati, Eugene, and Roman are from Eastern Ukraine, Vlad is the only member who is not. They all currently live in Kiev/Kyiv from what I've read. As far as your next Jinjer reaction, I'm gonna suggest reacting to Perennial live at Wacken open Air 2019, you'll really get to see how amazing they are live, and Tati's vocals are just incredible. Peace and as always, stay Metal. 😊🤘🤘🤘🎶🎶🎶

That is one of the 3 basic styles of mosh pits called the Wall of Death. The other two are the more common, usually smaller versions being the Circle pit which you described which can pop up anywhere in the crowd, and the basic Stationary pit which is usually front and center of the stage with no defined direction or borders just a lot of jumping and pushing. Hopefully Jinjer's shows will go on as planned this year. There should be one down your way in Warsaw Brooklyn Nov 23. I'll be going to either that one or the one in New Haven CT Nov 20 which is a little closer to me. I should also be going to get my new ink done soon. Jinjer and Nightwish Tats are the perfect way to celebrate shit starting to get back to normal.

At the end, that was a Wall of Death. A couple other songs you should check out are Perennial (live at Wacken) and I Speak Astronomy. They both have a good mix of clean vocals and growls, but I think Perennial has more cleans. From what I understand, Vlad (drums), Eugene (bass) and Roman (guitar) write the music first. Then Tatiana (vocals) writes the lyrics to the music. I think Eugene has written some lyrics. Pretty sure that he wrote Dreadful Moments and I heard he wrote that last section in Pisces.

my first mosh pit was at a Ministry concert, I was young around 17 or so, so early 90s. I was also only 5'9" and 135 lbs and most the moshers were nordic 6'4" and 250lbs blonde hair and scary...they would knock me down but pick me right back up. You look out for each other in the pit. I did get seriously injured once at a local show in Denton Texas, a band called Brutal Juice, was in the pit and this one guy's head was coming up as mine was going down and we collided. Saw a white flash and blood was streaming down my face. Had to get stitches and that pretty much stopped my mosh pit adventures.

The ENERGY holy sh** yes! I love Jinjer and your two reactions to them, subbed when I saw your Pisces reaction, thank you for bringing Jinjer to more people! For most of their songs, the three guys write most of the instrument music, then Tatiana writes most of the lyrics and melodies. Roman the guitarist has written a lot of the instrument music in the past, but I heard that Vlad the drummer wrote more or most of it for the album about to drop. I'm not sure how much Eugene composes, but I know that apart from his amazing work on the bass, he adds riffs and writes some of the lyrics. The band (all members have been Ukrainian, with Russian their first language) started in eastern Ukraine in 2009 as a group of five with none of the current members (they consider the official start of the band as 2010 when Tatiana replaced the male vocalist and Roman joined as lead guitar) and Vlad is the fifth drummer (joined in 2016) and it's been a band of four since 2015. I think they're still friends with all the former members. One of the things I love most about Jinjer is the messages in Tatiana's lyrics and the growling being so powerful for expressing the anger and pain in those messages: the anti-war message in Home Back, the anti-greed in On The Top and No Hoard Of Value (also the horror of the coal mining industry in their home Ukraine), the protest song Who Is Gonna Be The One, the anti-fascism of Sit Stay Roll Over, the anger at people being narrow minded in Teacher Teacher (as you saw here) and Judgment & Punishment, the struggles with mental health in Pit Of Consciousness and Perennial, the giving voice to mother nature angry at humanity for destroying her in a bunch of songs like Ape, The Prophecy, Cloud Factory, Noah and Bad Water. Other favorites are I Speak Astronomy, Retrospection, Words of Wisdom, Just Another, Captain Clock, Scissors, Outlander, Exposed As A Liar, I Want It I'll Get It, A Plus Or A Minus, Dip A Sail, When Two Empires Collide, Beggar's Dance and lainnereP. I haven't found a Jinjer song I don't love, so I think you can't go wrong if you choose any of them, but a few good choices might be Perennial (live at Wacken), Judgement & Punishment (Tatiana's one take performance), Pit of Consciousness (live in Kiev/Kyiv) or the heartwrenching plea against war in Home Back (official video). Enjoy! ❤🤘

Ella Fitzgerald and Amy Winehouse are two of Tatiana's female singing references (before she got the Rock and Metal voice influences from Sandra Nasic and Otep). That's where she got those jazzy, bluesy vocal traits from. You should react to a video that has short clips of Tatiana "fooling around", singing Edit Piaf, Freddy Mercury (with a fake moustache and all), Adele, a traditional Mexican song, you name it! It's a good show of Tatiana's capabilities, since they're raw performances, on the spur of the moment, without any enhancements or studio "magic". : )

Another good one and an older song is Outlander. Back when Tati had dreads and there was an extra guitarist (Dmitriy- which was one of the original members of the band) and a different drummer before Vlad- which is their current.

Check out Judgement & Punishment - One Take performance - she does open her mouth quite a bit when she growls in that song.
