Although I enjoyed the number of Heart's hits and the various songs they've output through the years, Dog & Butterfly is not only (by far) my favorite Heart song, but, in my opinion, is one of the greatest popular songs ever written and recorded. In history. Period.

Doesn’t matter what year I feel the emotion from them & I know they’ve been through it & I wish I understood then when I was that butterfly. Idk what I survived for yet. Thank you girls for giving some crazy understanding expression of innocent true love & a wild & careless dawg w no way to see the dream long gone- it’s just a fight to finish based on hope & faith. Timeless wisdom. We need you, Heart. We love love u! Thanks for the merciful sweet sorrow once again. 🤟❤️🙋♀️

Fan since my teens , saw them a few times in large halls. In 2007 they came to my northern Arizona 1200 seat auditorium and I don’t know what the hell was up with the audience.. I brought my 11 yr old daughter and we played it 1970s style, dressed proper 70s and went downstage and danced with a only a few 15 yr old girls.. there I was in my late 40s , and we rocked it. Nancy was really appreciative , bowing with her guitar as she played to me and Ann would wink at me and cheer me on. They look a bit disappointed that the audience didn’t rally after songs and I was truly embarrassed.. I thought , was I rude, no one said a thing not even security…. I’ll teach my daughter how it’s done, always have. We are both musicians and paying proper respect to the Queens of rock n roll was duly noted that night ! If you haven’t seen them sing Stairway to Heaven as Led Zeppelin received US Presidential Award. It’ll bring you to tears and the band cried too. So so beautiful!

The Wilson sisters co-authored this piece with Sue Ennis. Sue caught Ann’s attention by humming a Beatles song❕ Ann Wilson got the idea for the lyric of “Dog & Butterfly” (1978) one day when she looked out her window and saw a dog chasing a butterfly : “doggedly” determined, it wouldn’t give up❗️ Dixit Ann : “The chase took on another meaning for me. LIKE SO MUCH IN LIFE, THE SPIRIT IS UNDAUNTED, YOU KEEP GOING AFTER IT.” Nancy cites “Dog & Butterfly” as the one song that captures the essence of her sibling : “It really represents [Ann’s] curiosity with all things spiritual - in the Yoda sort of way. She’s always had this propensity […] to look for the wise old man or the wisdom of an elderly man. A humanitarian spiritual guide in your life. I think that’s exactly who Ann was and still is.” This FAN FAVORITE has made its way into most Heart concerts : a nice change of pace, truly intimate and zen, with Ann and Nancy both playing ACOUSTIC GUITARS. ONE MUST-LISTEN❕ 💜🦋💜

Why do acoustic guitars always sound so crappy plugged in compared to how they sound naturally? It’s like all the sustain and resonance is clipped off.
@schumi9xwdc Жыл бұрын
It’s the Electronic Pick ups, These are from Martin, Gibsons pick ups are better, once you use pick ups on an acoustic, your amp set up dictacts all sounds , so it’s up to the set up of the player.
